Stick with that attitude and your right, practice, practice, practice! I have played trombone for 5 years now and it wasn't till like 2 and a half years of playing to understand that practicing is the key to success and now I've done pretty well for myself.
great tone man, from expirience though, I might recommend starting a solo at a more paced, softer point. It sounds nice if you have your solos go somewhere, the same with shaping music. But otherwise, you sound really great!
SoundFreak88 the best players are the best players regardless of instrument, I prefer using a professional grade trigger with a 4G large shank Vincent Bach Megatone mouthpiece, yeah it’s objectively a better setup but I could solo just the same on my old beginner straight Yamaha.
Solo was amazing but in the original version of Vehicle the trombones have the melody for almost the entire song so was kind of disappointed to see that this version they didn’t
Hey Chris King, tell the fartknocker 2 spots to your right to sit the crap still while he's playing. Who does he think he is.... a woodwind or string player? Cripes.
Not the point. You can love what you're doing without being a severe distraction (and doing NOTHING to enhance your technical skill or ability to play well, I might add. matter of fact, if anything it detracts.).
How cute. Our middle school band played the song better...however the solo was amazing. I recommend less looking down and more so to say "winging it". It's more exciting for the band and audience alike. Good job!
yeah, for some reason I was thinking "Vehicle" was the name of their school band... took me about 5 minutes to figure that out, but I had already posted the comment :(
You need to understand there's more than 1 way of soloing. A solo written down, whether it's by him or the arranger, it's still called a solo. If your just making it up then it's called improvisation, using either blues scales or chords.
RandomlyOriginal he did play parts that was already written. But Saying that to the rules old is Never looks down and is not Simply not true. A good solist actually have studied jazz Theory will follow his chords progressions written Down in the Note. So proffesional musicians also sometimes need to check their notes during the solo
A piece like that is composed to be a song, that is, sung - by a voice. Other than the "Great God..." part the melody is pretty monotonous. The bone solo doesn't do anything to save it.
I play trombone too, I dont know that I'll ever be that good though.
How good are you now?
jack peterson I guess we'll never know
Clint Wade me too
the song is actual really easy.
Clint Wade .
Man I never got to Learn all your secrets to being amazing, Chris.
0:38, OOF
I have the solo(s) in this and it's really fun to play. Challenging at First but that's what makes it fun.
Sure man! I'm from the Haughton School of Performing Arts.
this was a transcribed solo
Gage D how do u know?
@@theblackhawkcrew9584 I agree. I've played this arrangement and some of what is played here is the written solo.
Thomas Boniface Arrangements can u post a link?
@@theblackhawkcrew9584 czcams.com/video/tRTdJwPBwl0/video.html
still very well played though and great improvisation for the rest of it
Wow, that is an amazing solo. Your tone is just awesome and you're just overall on point. Awesome.
Stick with that attitude and your right, practice, practice, practice! I have played trombone for 5 years now and it wasn't till like 2 and a half years of playing to understand that practicing is the key to success and now I've done pretty well for myself.
that is friggen epic boi.
I plan on seeing you in more concerts.
Great to see all these youngs doing this great piece. My brother flirted with the trombone in grade school.
This is awesome!
f'in right chris congrats!!!!!! was youtubing stuff from haughton and got all homesick saw this and was like WOAHHHHHH!!!! Good job.
Awesome. and so much fun!
Props, this is unreal
This is an incredible performance, and I have heard plenty of high school jazz bands (from the NorthEast at least!)
Excellent trombone solo!
Let's show these guys what we trombones can do!! WOOOOOO!!
Wow that was well done. ur tone is by far some of the greatest stuff ive ever heard. well done and keep practicing
micah yaroch you must have really low standards for tone
True, better than some college bands.
AWESOME
Wonderful !
Beautifully done! Just added you!
Right on!
We’re learning this in my jazz class and since I transferred from tuba to trombone like 3 days ago without learning how to play I’m 4th trombone ;-;
I play trombone at haughton to and I a a freshman. Williams talks about you all the time
Awesone trombone performance! I was a good trombone player but he is a great player.
Hella good
You have a gift from jesus my friend fr fr
I think maybe you got a little too cute with the lower partial stuff but this is an amazing solo. Nice job.
2:39 this guy just starts playing scales before the last solo...
Alaric Lacey he might have been improvising
homerles ik it's improv telling you he just staying playing scales in his solo :)
My trombone came from my school and it sounds like a dying elephant
We are playing this and we have a trombone wall
great tone man, from expirience though, I might recommend starting a solo at a more paced, softer point. It sounds nice if you have your solos go somewhere, the same with shaping music. But otherwise, you sound really great!
Kristopher Ring dang what a buzz kill dude lol
SuperMaDBrothers he’s just trying to give some advice
God damn bro
Nice
wow
This awesome! What are the keys of the solo section
Fricking how?!?!?!
holy shit
I play beginner trombone for the paragould pride I know I will never be as good as them
Great Job man. Where are you from? Can you give me lessons?
Is this Haughton in Louisiana or somewhere else?
theres nothing more fun then that rubato at 2:40
Not bad!!!!:D
it seems like the best trombone player always has the better trombone.............
SoundFreak88 Not in my band. In my band, our third trombone has the nicest one lol (Technically he plays the second part but we have 5 players)
SoundFreak88 the best players are the best players regardless of instrument, I prefer using a professional grade trigger with a 4G large shank Vincent Bach Megatone mouthpiece, yeah it’s objectively a better setup but I could solo just the same on my old beginner straight Yamaha.
lil' to jazzi
You did start just playing scales though haha
Would I not make sense to put the stands lower so the notes are actually projected out like the trumpets
Solo was amazing but in the original version of Vehicle the trombones have the melody for almost the entire song so was kind of disappointed to see that this version they didn’t
in the original version of vecicle, the melody goes to the vocalist. your "original version" is an arrangement (paul jennings I'd assume)
Bro where’s the saxophone section
Can someone give me the name of the song, please?
vehicle lol?
There trombone section sits that’s weird
Shae colean lmao u kidding
Ikr. Those trombones are weak
*their
bruddah why would a trombone section stand
Zach Kaufman they usually sit on stools not on just chairs, but I agree they usually don’t stand.
i wonder if it was a written solo ... probably not.
C blues scale
why isnt he conducting?
No tubas need to play the melody if they have them the trumpets were good but if you have heard the song the voice is deep so TUBA
Charlie Koenig it’s a jazz band dude
I bet he's from Louisiana
This is an ensemble
Never mind there's a solo too
Kevingamingpantz this is why we watch to the end before commenting
Hey Chris King, tell the fartknocker 2 spots to your right to sit the crap still while he's playing. Who does he think he is.... a woodwind or string player? Cripes.
He was just into the music, give him a break! I wish more people loved the music they played as much as this kid apparently does
Not the point. You can love what you're doing without being a severe distraction (and doing NOTHING to enhance your technical skill or ability to play well, I might add. matter of fact, if anything it detracts.).
A distraction to who, exactly?
Christ man, calm down.
Jesus shit
If you want to play better,
avoid doing stuff like going up and down notes like that.
How cute. Our middle school band played the song better...however the solo was amazing. I recommend less looking down and more so to say "winging it". It's more exciting for the band and audience alike. Good job!
What song is this called?
Look at the title.
lel
yeah, for some reason I was thinking "Vehicle" was the name of their school band... took me about 5 minutes to figure that out, but I had already posted the comment :(
Are you in the jazz band at your school?
Solo rythem didn't go along with the main rythem so it was all over the plate and sounded sloppy
in the last part there is a thing called rubato which means a free time for the soloist
I could see he's looking at a sheet of notes. A real soloist makes it up on the spot, just like we do in my school.
No, this was completely Improv. Not one part of it was written. Looking down was a way to avoid the crowd.
christopher king the first half was written
christopher king The first half was written. I played this solo in my school jazz band
