  • How to install the Magnum Headache rack.
    Why is it called a Headache Rack?
    1. Truck racks SAVE YOU from a headache
    One of the big safety advantages of using a truck rack is the fact that they secure heavy equipment and material that you are transporting in your pickup truck. Heavy objects are not only prevented from sliding around in your truck, but should you come to a sudden stop, objects are prevented from launching forward through the rear cab window. If something were actually to come through the window and hit someone, then to call the resulting blow a “headache” would be an understatement!
    Truck racks help to keep everyone inside the cab protected in the event of a sudden stop.

    You know this is one of the few videos I’ve found where someone actually shows the install for lighting. Thank you so much! Idk if I’ll get a magnum but a headache rack with brake and reverse lights is something I’ve contemplated for some time. Truck looks great, good job!

    Is the harnest that runs from the trailer hookup to the harnest out of the rack included when they send you the rack or do you have to buy it. The one that runs under the whole bed?

    Hoping you'll see this since it's been awhile since you created this video... Which rack model did you go with? The low pro or high pro Magnum rack. Looks like it's the low pro /sports rack. Why did you choose the style you did? Would the high pro rack reveal the lights on the back of the cab? Thank you for a great video. I am looking at a Magnum headache rack for my '15 Silverado and this makes my decision a bit easier. Thank you for your input on the toolbox as well.

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  Před 2 lety

      It's the low pro. I don't carry a ton on the rack and I thought it looked less like a work truck than the high pro. You may see the 3rd break light through the high pro but I'm not entirely sure.

  • @commonsense7924
    @commonsense7924 Před 2 lety +3

    Why didn't you leave the bedliner in and just custom fit the rack and tool box that way your bed and rails are still protected. I did this to three of my trucks looks great and gives bed protection???

      @TheSundaeDrive  Před 7 lety

      skibumy206 I read a lot of reviews before purchasing mine and weatherguard seemed to the highest quality toolbox available. I love it so far. I bought it a few years used and I've had it for about 8 months It has held up great. I never have to worry about my tools getting wet. The only negative is really a negative against every type of truck tool box, that being that the locks can be picked easily. But any lock is really only a deterrent anyways. I would definitely recommend a weatherguard.

      If the low profile has a thinner lid, it would be able to sit closer to the Headache Rack so you won't lose as much bed space. I'm not sure if it has a thinner lid or not but just something to keep in mind.

    • @skibumy206
      @skibumy206 Před 7 lety

      The low profile has a thinner top piece that sits on the truck rails, all in all its about a three inch difference in height from the rail to top of box. 15 inch overall height. Only difference is in the Low profile is that the locks/release buttons are located on the front of the box basically inside the bed, see attached www.weatherguard.com/en/view/Products/Truck%20Tool%20Boxes%20%20Equipment/Boxes/Saddle%20Box/121-52-01

    The Rack seems to block your 3rd Brake light and cargo/bed light. I see the fix for the brake lamp but what about the cargo lamp?

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  Před 5 lety

      The rack includes reverse and brake lights. The only annoying thing is when I activate my bed lights, only the lights in the rails are visible. I am planning to add a light bar to the rack that faces the bed which taps into my light controller for the bed lights or I am going to tap the headache rack reverse lights into my light controller. There are a lot of solutions.
