      Good for him but I am a similar weight and build. Why can't he just lose weight and lift weights? Why is it either skinny fat or weightlifting and morbidly obese?

    Lunatics giving grief on the Internet as they sit on their couch probably wishing they did something.
    I don't agree with all of starting strength but the premise of getting strong first is 100 percent correct.
    I would throw a walk every day if you can manage it building up from 10/15 mins to 30/45 then after a month or two 1 tabata on the bike once a week. That'll keep the weight in check for most people.

      clearly the point of the SS gym is to also train you. Yes the physical training equipment, being free weights primarily, can be found anywhere but thats...um...kind of not the point.

    Ok. I understand getting “big” to get strong. But at some point you need to get “healthy” also. And I can’t be healthy being 60# overweight. This is my battle.

      Build some muscle mass first, then lose the fat. If you’re fat, you don’t have to eat a caloric surplus, or not much of one anyway.

      Lbs as a measure if one is healthy or not. You didn’t consider fat versus muscle tissue proportions. In fact, you are only assuming what you assert. You don’t have any data to backup your assertion.

    His weight should probably be in the 250ish range, close to natural potential plus a good amount of fat. Everything past that is unnecessary fat. People greatly over estimate how much muscle they actually have.

      Hey, do you dislike him for being a fat slob still and bragging or being a fat slob bragging and not lifting that much? I feel ike he is on the right track with his idea's, but he would be able to increase the amount of weight he lifts and lose weight at the same time given he's not lifting that heavy in the first place.

      I work in healthcare in the USA. I know plenty of doctors and nurses and technicians who are overweight and I’ve known a few who smoke.
      At least this guys is 30 lbs lighter than when he started lifting weights. And considering that he’s been lifting weights, he probably gained some muscle so his fat loss if greater than 30 lbs
