    This brings back the feeling of what "Made in America" really means. Although, $4 - 6k might be above many people's price range for vinyl.

      Lol. Is Stevenage in America?

      Its a British turntable, not American. Why do you assume everything of any quality is made in the US ?

    What does this bird cost with tonearm?

    Follow directions.

    Is it just me, or does that tonearm look way too basic (like a Rega RB220) for such an advanced suspended turntable?
    Could do with a nice Reed tonearm if you'd ask me.

      @jdm-uk-yank Před 6 měsíci +1

      It is a modified Rega arm. Never underestimate the brilliance of this tried and true simple arm. Hundreds of tables have used this arm as it's hard to beat anywhere near its price point.

      @@jdm-uk-yank was just listening to an interview with the owner/head engineer at rega. he said , without naming SME , that the performance equaled the acknowledged best arm on the market when it was designed. he didn't talk much about the arm, it was far from the main topic , and also stressed that price has no relation to performance in many instances in hi fi.
      I bought the arm because of the price and the fact that it was developed with the gyro, hoping to benefit for symbiosis between two designs. I am very happy.

      @@richardelliott8352 When the Rega RB300 was introduced in 1983, SME only made the Series III, and 3009R tonearms. The Series V was still a couple of years off.

      ...until you get an armboard and put an aftermarket tonearm onto it, like they did with this Orbe.

    I have never seen so many greasy fingermarks put on a deck like this. I suggest wearing cotton gloves to set this up (in my opinion)

    • @gotham61
      @gotham61 Před 2 měsíci +1

      I disagree. Finger marks are easy to wipe off after the work is complete. With cotton gloves you are more likely to lose your grip and drop a fragile part.

    If you believe you can hear more than is on the record, you obviously have a record player that makes its own music.
    It is absolute no wonder people believe in god, people hear things that just can't be there.
