Had my Gyro MkI for a quarter of a century, been through parties, drunken aunties, inquisitive kids and generally used as the main house music source all that time. Just now I'm updating a few things - power supply, suspension springs, belts etc so it'll keep going for another 25 years, but get some relief now we have streamable muzak on tap. But for real listening, stick my mums old copy of Pastel Blues on and there are tears in your eyes, wonderful.

The entire rebranding with the classical cabinets is absolutely stunning. PM7 8ohm , silver is my end game dream for its great linearity . Hope to visit the factory showroom one day.

I well remember the old dual corner Acoustas and had friend who owned a pair. I have had of Acoustas now for 50 years original cabinets but new units.

I am very pleased to own a gyro se, so much so I am considering upgrading from the techno arm, which was Mr. Michell's last design project, and voiced to sound like a top SME arm when installed on the gyro. Just a couple of things stuck out from the presentation, first, AR was using a hanging suspension long before Michell was in the turntable business. second, I think the presenter mischaracterizes the deep turntable design grasp Mr. Michell had achieved, when he says Michell was doing things just to be different . the attempt to claim a low output moving coil cartridge is the result of some kind of unique Michell insight is, well it makes me worry about the management of the company. That sales pitch would be appropriate if children were buying a turntable that doesn't come with an arm , then buying a separate arm , plus selecting a cartridge. Adults at this price point and level of sophistication of equipment already know how cartridges work , and claiming the product development team had some kind of design epiphany to slap the brand onto is an insult to intelligence, undermining the credibility of a great product, the Gyro SE.

I’m so glad that Michell is being taken forward so well done, Johnathan. John, was a true gentleman and in turn so was Steve. I have the fondest memories of the Borehamwood factory and office. John even hand delivered an Alecto power amp to my house! I stupidly sold them on but the Gyro and tecno arm remain and I will never part with them. All the best.

Mr Thornton, wholeheartedly, thank you for saving Lowther. Although other imitators/ competitors have made progress over the years, there are some unique advantages of the Lowther drivers that I would not drop, in favor of theirs. The double-sided voice coil and the beautiful shape of the basket rim for instance. That said and being a Lowther lover for sure, I do believe the drivers need to progress. Ugly cone (sound) colorations should be taken care of and damped. Foam quality of surrounds and spiders should be improved. Voice coil centering can be perfect down to 8Hz or even finger-push. It CAN! It's a pitty to hear it rubbing and find out that the HiFerric is partially abbrased! Perhaps you should strive to improve the last, highest octave with a more puristic approach than a separate super-tweeter. All these are possible and I believe, should the great, ingenious, initial inventor Paul Voigt still live, or even if, merely, his spirit of invention and innovation would live on and followed by a newer team, the Lowther driver would be amazingly good and unsurpassed today. A DX5, with a bigger neodymium magnet than the DX4, would catch-up with some serious competition from Poland. Other loudspeaker designs (like transmission lines) less colored and messy than horns should be tried and developed. The Lowther driver, I say this by experience, can really, really shine but, as is, it's just a raw diamond! I admit the folded back whizzer-cone was an improvement, as was also the HiFerric. But it's rather too little over many decades, isn't it? Anyway, thank you again for keeping the legend alive, this alone is already a lot!

I have never seen so many greasy fingermarks put on a deck like this. I suggest wearing cotton gloves to set this up (in my opinion)

I'm so very glad to see someone pumping up such a critical component within the hi-fi industry. Some of the most jaw dropping speakers I ever heard were the glorious Lowthers in the 1990s.

I have the ae509 for front left and right, i have the ae307 as a center. I want to timbre match , would i benefit getting a ae500 and use that as a center?

I have heard these at the last two Munich High-End shows - they are absolutely brilliant. The more people that hear these loudspeakers, the more success Alare will have. Once you hear them, you can't forget them. Stunning!
