The thing is Viserys didn't know about it, he could have jumped in when Renly died, he would have Dorn a scattered Stormlands and the Lannisters fight Rob Stark. From then on if he didn't marry his sister for a Dothraki army he could have married her to a Tyrell or had the Martells arrange one of theirs to marry a Tyrell. So he could have potentially had Dorn, The Reach and easy occupation of the Stormlands with a chance to absorb parts of Renly's army and his main enemies fighting in the Riverlands. He could have even gotten an alliance with Rob give him the Lannisters and in return he bends the knee and recognizes Viserys as his king.

I feel like Vis'es character was wasted, we could have an interesting psycho emotional development on many levels (for better or worse or neutral) + an interesting character to comapare and bounce off Dany as she reigns on her own and then slips into cruelty/madness herself. Could be marvelously flashed out. We can still remove/banish him as a plot point and maybe explore the other lands also a bit where he stalks around. Maybe even in his desperation he'd go and show readers a bit of Old Valyria? His trauma and twisted psychology make a scary but captivating blend especially with targaryen temper and expressivness. He also seemed to be less delusional than his sister in terms of brutal reality. That clash of perspectives would also be interesting.
So the dude who made the Dothraki language obviously knew George pronounced it that way, but presumably decided that in-world this was akin to how an english speaking person pronounces "magi" or "alibi", despite their languages of origin pronouncing them with more of a "long-e" or close front unrounded vowel (like how it's pronounced on the show). The only thing the show messed up was not having the people from Westeros pronounce it George's way
He and Patrick Rothfuss has taught all readers to never buy a book in a series unless the series is 90% complete. If you look at everything in the books, GOT was not even 30% done due to being incredibly overwritten. A character can't take a bath in these books without a full chapter being written alluding to three prophecies and an assassination attempt.
