I'm printing the back of a hoody for the 1st time tomorrow, thank you for the tips especially the back.
You'll crush it, so glad we could help. Happy pressing!
Dave, I love all of your how-to videos! I have learned so much from you and I want you to know how much you've helped me to grow my print-on-demand apparel business using a Hotronix 16x20 Auto Clam press and Transfer Express' awesome transfers. Come to Detroit and sign my heat press! I'm right down the street from Stahl's in St. Clair Shores! (Dated a girl in high school who lived in Mentor on Johnnycake Ridge, too, haha!)
Steve! Thanks for the kind words, I'm so happy I can help out- I love being able to help decorators, entrepreneurs and creatives just like you! Next time I'm up in Michigan visiting our headquarters I'll pop on by with a sharpie ;)
Even your placement tips are appreciated! Thanks!
We’re so happy we could help out!
To prevent pressing on the zipper when affixing on the back of the hoodie, unzip the hoodie, which will give you the flat surface you need for pressing on the back.
That's a fantastic tip! That zipper will definitely show up in that back print. Thanks David!
Great tutorial, thanks! 😊
You're welcome! We're always happy to help!
Amazing video, very well explained. Thank you
Thanks Gee! We're so happy we could help out!
AWESOME VIDEO SO IMFORMATIVE.

Love it
Thanks Deon Clothing, glad we could help! :)
Without a threadable press, I use a large pressing pillow inside of the hoodie when doing the back.
That's a good tip- But we recommend using caution: Depending on what transfer type you're using, pillows sometimes dissipate too much pressure for those heat transfers that require a firm pressure (Like the Goof Proof screen printed transfers we used here). They may press ok but won't last the full 50+ wash cycles if not applied correctly.
@@transferexpress What would you suggest for those of us without a threadable platen when doing them otherwise?
@@transferexpress What would the suggested method be to do this prints, withouth a threadable platen then?
Would you happen to know why my vinyl does not stick to hoddie, it’s a polyester/cotton hoddie
Hey Jessica, for any heat transfer application, there's 3 elements you need: Time, Temperature & Pressure. Double check the application instructions for the specific vinyl that you're using to ensure your settings are correct. Pressure is often overlooked and too little pressure is the cause for many transfers not applying correctly.
If that doesn't solve the issue, there may be something wrong with your heat press. Using a thermometer or heat press test strips ( www.transferexpress.com/heat-press-accessories/heat-press-test-kit ) to ensure your press is actually at what you have it set to.
Most heat transfer vinyl works on all cotton, polyester or cotton poly blends, so it shouldn't be the vinyl itself.
Did you use basic mouse pads?
Yep! These are the blank mousepads made for sublimation: www.transferexpress.com/heat-press-accessories/mouse-pads
