  • After months of eagerly awaiting, we finally got a chance to hit the Dirt. On this chilled Sunday ride with a cracking group of riders we explored the less travelled roads from Healesville, through Alexandra to Marysville. It was meant to be an easy ride suitable for all, but we managed to make it a bit more adventurous than planned! Thanks Ian for putting this together!

    The tower set up looks really practical

      It absolutely is mate! And The updated one looks even more stunning and has a few 'practicality' issues sorted in the design too! I'll be fitting it on mine and doing a review soon!

      Glad you enjoyed this Video!! I'm yet to ride with Davin actually! And he was on the other weekend Camping trip in the high country this weekend. Hopefully after the Christmas rush is over we can go on a ride together! I can't wait!

    Fantastic vid, great to see you all got out to ride finely,looks like it was a great day :)

      It was! The biggest realization for most of us was how out of shape we all were! In fact it took me a while to "get into" that mental state of sliding around the gravel! But once that sets it was a blast!!!

    Have just removed a D606 rear after 5500km on my DRZ doing around 50/50 riding. I still had 1000 km left on the tyre but wanted to try a MT21 rear. The D606 is a good long lasting tyre but I am looking for a little more grip off road. The MT21 front now has 5000 km and I have reversed the direction to even out the wear. Also running 2 rim locks to off set the weight.

    • @OnTwoWheels
      @OnTwoWheels  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for sharing. I don't think I've heard of anyone using a MT21 rear. By the looks of it it lasts as long. But how's the grip on it? Ever found yourself loosing traction with it?

      @@OnTwoWheels I have just mounted the MT21 rear last week and yet to ride the bike. It is a slightly softer compound then the D606 so would expect less road Km's. I will let you know once I have a few Km's under my belt.

    So awesome. I WISH we had hills in Florida, that riding looks like so much fun. Thanks for the vid, pleasure to watch as always

    • @OnTwoWheels

      Thanks for watching! I agree, hill climbs have a certain thrill factor. That brief moment of uncertainly followed by the sense of conquering the mountain!
      I reckon Florida has a lot of beach riding?

    • @gonadiator
      @gonadiator Před 3 lety

      @@OnTwoWheels I always have a blast climbing hills at construction sites (until I get kicked out usually XD). Riding on the public beach is definitely not allowed. There are some private beaches, but not too many people ride on those. We have lots of flat-ish trails here.

      @OnTwoWheels  Před 3 lety +1

      @@gonadiator oh that's a shame! Our state (Victoria) doesn't allow driving/riding on beaches either. But 500km away is the state of South Australia where it IS allowed. I've done it once, and had a blast. hope to do it again soon!!

    It was great to meet you mate, enjoyed the video, I love seeing a ride from other peoples perspective. The side track you guys took looked good, I want to check out Devastation track that comes of SEC track next time I'm up there.

    Hi mate, thank you for making this video. It was very nice to see the route as I just started with ADV riding. I live in Melbourne too and want to explore off road. Are there any specific groups that I can see what people are planning for the off-road trips? Do you mind sharing this route? I saw from the video it’s from Healesville to Marysville but I don’t know how to find the off-road route from the maps. I can only see the regular paved road. Thanks for the help.

    • @OnTwoWheels
      @OnTwoWheels  Před 3 lety +1

      This particular ride was organized by Ian, so I don't really remember the path. But there's a few nice routes you can start with like Acacon's way to Paradise Plains Road (Warburton to Marysville). Frankly I just browse around google maps and find roads myself... nothing too fancy.
      But keep an eye out on my FB page; next time I'm out on a ride I'll share the info there, and you can come along!!!

    Don't know about those action cams tbh.. wavy video and low resolution. You can buy GoPro sessions easily for $100 each secondhand and they shoot really clear good video.

    • @OnTwoWheels
      @OnTwoWheels  Před 3 lety

      yeah, the electronic image stabilization and colour balancing isn't as good as the big brands in situations where there's vibrations and there's a lot of light change happening. But i also blame it on myself trying to manually fiddle with settings. The last video I did, they performed MUCH better.

    What type of camera are you using?

    • @OnTwoWheels
      @OnTwoWheels  Před 3 lety

      It's a generic brand-less camera I took a chance on.
      this is the camera you see mounted on the dash and on the swing arm.
