  • When I signed up for the #openRoadsRally I knew I wanted to put my #ARX Rally Tower to good use. So rather than use a boring mobile phone app, I make myself a roadbook reader and used a paper roadbook throughout the rally!
In this episode I explain how to read a roadbook and I talk through the experience of building a roadbook reader and installing it on my bike! Let me know what you think!

Good choice! It's hard to explain but there's a certain thrill in rolling through a roadbook while on the bike. I guess it's the OG feel. But if someone were to give me a Garmin, I won't say no!

    Great video!
I have an idea that might fix the vibrations unspooling the road book.
If you take two rubber bands. Put them round both pipes fitted with rubber handles. One inside the box and one on the outside.
The friction against the plastic might stop it from moving. At least from moving a lot. On the plus side it should help the top roller to move the bottom roller and the other way around.
I have no ider if it works but In theary it should. Might need more rubber bands to ad friction.
Love your video on the rally tower!

The rubber band idea is def a good one! I think I should try that!!! My next navigation rally I know how I'll be doing it!

A side load road book holder is $29. I it wouldn’t be worth the time or money savings to me but it’s a great job.

Nice work. I also buy too many things from Bunnings for my crazy projects. I’ve got those same alu tubes sitting in the garage that I didn’t end up using on my rally tower! 😆 Maybe they’ll be a road book for next year?
