Specifically YOU guys should go with Ataman because YOU predicted at the beginning of season that Pao can hardly make it to the play in. So you believed around 10th place. He got 2nd. I rest my case.
It plays itself. Adding stuff like new club, new country, new players, 12 transfers, only 7 foreign players,most efficient defense in the league (yes that takes work) combined with decent offense capable of winning at even 90+ game etc are impressive as well.
It is impressive how you guys feel so uncomfortable having to admit that Pana and Ataman had so far an amazing regular season (regardless the final result in May) managing to finish 2nd starting from the 17th place last year. Makes us really wonder what is really the reason you feel that kind of detest against the greens.

I mean, Real are the defending champions, the roster didn't change that much and arguably improved, and they were the absolute favorites before the season started. Mateo did a great job, but what Panathinaikos did with Ataman as far as season to season change and impact, is actually historic. Considering most people had them as barely a play-in team before the season started, it doesn't get much more impressive.
To me it's clear it should be Ataman.
Clearly Ataman. If you compare previous year team standings, team performance, players consistancy in each game and crunch time tactics. He stands out.

Its not even about the winning... ataman presents a defense that is top for almost the whole regular season all that without even having 1 player that upon joining you could describe as defensive.He can hide sloukas (no ..he can make sloukas shine even on defense)....he took a "team" with nothing not a single thing that was already there and came up second....im sorry but if having good players is a minus to taking coty then Mateo with a champion team and the addition of a top 3 player should be out of the talk
To sum up panathinaikos should get at least one of the coty mvp or dpoy....or else they should put at least 3 greens in the first team of the year.....or else it doesn't make sense to have any success
I have never seen this much concentrated effort in order to deny how much Ergin Ataman deserves to be the Euroleague coach of the year.
Bartzokas? He took last year's Euroleague first place finisher and eventual finalist to 5th place. Roger Grimau? With a much better roster than Pana, his team finished at 4th place. Mateo? His record this year is impressive, but the difference he made this year vs 2023 Mateo isn't even that big. Plus, he commands arguably the best roster in the Euroleague.
Probably, Bartzokas could also be the coach of the year. He lost Vezenkov and Sloukas and many people in December were saying that Olympiacos couldn't qualify not only in the play offs but even in the play-in. The Greek team had also so many injuries but managed to qualify.
Also, if Baskonia qualify to the play offs tonight in my opinion Dusko Ivanovic could be the coach of the year. In the beginning of this current Euroleague campaign many people were saying that this team will finish in the last position of the standings and also that belongs to Euro Cup with its current squad.
The war from the media and all the Panathinaikos team, president and fans that Bartzokas is receiving is unbelievable. That's why he is the best coach. Also, Olympiacos doesn't have a big budget all those years.

Another reason Bartzokas is NOT coach of the year. He decided not to renew sloukas this summer, letting him join Pao. Now ataman uses him to lead his team and finishes 2nd.

For me Bartzokas is the COTY because:
-Lost the MVP Euroleague
-Had 7 new players
-Along with Pana i think were the teams with the most injuries this season
-He managed through his offball basketball to win 22 games without any superstar (first time in Euroleague a team with 22 wins is not in top4 all other years 22 wins were a guaranteed 3rd-4th place)
2nd place is Ataman and 3rd place Matteo
First of all after the postseason Pana was expected to be a final four team because of the expectations of the roster. Ataman has a very big budget of players he didn't overachieved.

Nunn, Sloukas, Lessort or Grigonis are star players and would be leaders on others teams. If Ataman would make it with Alba team to Final 4, conversation would be different from bakstnews guys for sure. See Šaras with one of lowest budget team Žalgiris made it to Final 4. Can Ataman do the same?

To vote for a "COACH OF THE YEAR", i guess, is about "how the coach has affected a team, considering the roster he has". I cannot accept Ataman as coach of the year, since the budget of the roster is the 2nd bigger of all Euroleague!!! With these players i can take any team in 2nd place! i just leave them alone to play what they know! The talent is so high, that the players have put themselves alone in the 2nd place, without any kind of coatching intelligence needed. On the other hand, coach Bartzokas, with half team (almost all season), with additional players midseason and not knowing if they are going to addapt (newcomers), has achived best def. in Euroleague, a fearless fearing team at the same time that none want to have as an opponent at this stage!
