Its so refreshing that Cait keeps it REAL eh. She isn't marketing where-as anything and everything the others do is 100% for profit, always. Stay safe This Is May.
I would start over with gopher resistant plants like oleander, lavender, sage. If you transport them it's likely more will just move into the area for your tasty snacks! What a lovely view you have!!
I agree this is exactly what I would do🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻. Really it’s the only thing to do. Or have nothing and put river rock all on hill beside steps in this area.
It doesn't work like that. Gophers are territory minded. There's ways to keep new Gophers from moving back in. Getting rid of the ones there first is where you start. I have relocated many prairie dogs and Gophers.
Hi Caitlyn, these are prickly cactus plants you have. I don't understand why they don't feel the prickles while eating. Anyways, on the base of the plants get a small paint brush and paint on something awful tasting like, tomato paste, garlic paste, or hot chilli paste. Something that's tastes awful. Or use house paint on the stems. Sprinkle manure round each plant or even crushed glass around base. Or wrap alfoil around the base of each plant. Or simply buy a pest spray and spray on base or rat poison pellets. Go out at night with a torch and see what is doing this to your plants. Choose plants that animals don't like to eat or are poisonous to animals. Lovely view in Santa Monica. Put fake plants in. Plant fruit trees?. Or Google it... lol Good luck.
Hi Cait! Beautiful property. I’m an animal lover big time , so I would go for a whole different type of plant that that don’t like ! Ask a landscaper and go from there . I think you need some color in your garden anyway ! Good luck ! Please update ! Ann from Massachusetts
As we encroach on nature, we need to respect the fact that they should not be forced to move. I suggest finding a way to live with it and them. I plant peppermint between my plants because they can't stand the smell ! Lavender and rosemary helps too. Coffee grounds sprinkled around your plants help too. Or, if all else fails...Google it? lol but, trying to trap them is like forcing them to move from home.
Hello Caitlyn, I would put in a beautiful rock garden With potted plants that The little pests can't get into!!. So many different colored rock to choose from and so many different styles and colors of planters and planter boxes to choose from . .I would go with ceramic pots ( can't be gnawed through) easy To care for.. I really enjoy your show and admire Your strength, courage , and the kindness of your heart.. blessings !!
I love how real and down to earth this video is. Like what a silly problem but as someone who has watched her entire garden get eaten by gophers and ground squirrels, I totally get it. I don’t really have a suggestion unfortunately, I just keep planting and hoping I’ll get at least 25% of the harvest. Worst case add some cameras and post some videos of the little buggers chowing down, might be rather entertaining. Best of luck from a new subscriber. Can’t wait to see what happens next! 💜
Hello my friend !!! Get rid of those plants and replace with something else maybe some roses 🌹 or some beautiful flowers 🌸 hope you find a solution !! So much love from Las Vegas 🥰❤️
Hey Caitlyn...They have gopher netting made out of metal ....Have to dig a bit to line the garden beds but it works wonders. And if you order some large urns with gorgeous tall plants it'll hide all the utility boxes on your home.....The electrical boxes ruin the view.....Happy gardening from sunny Florida🌞
Plants that repel gophers: Other plants can be used to repel gophers, such as gopher spurge (Euphorbia lathyris), crown imperials, lavender, rosemary, salvia, catmint, oleander and marigolds.
i use red pepper flakes on top of the soil when i plant tulip bulbs in my climate. it usually keeps squirrels from digging. deterring them is the best.
Hi Caytlene hope you are well.... The best natural way is to put coffee beans into the goafers túnel and cover them with soil and spread cooffee beans around your plants and garden....
Hi Caitlin, Try dried blood or liquid fence. Spray and sprinkle it over your plants. It consists of rotten eggs and blood that rodents and deer do not like. It smells horrible for humans too, but the smell doesn’t last long for humans. Good luck! You can find it on amazon.
This made me smile so much, so cute and nostalgic this video, the word gopher I’m sure none of us were expecting, thank you for making a jolly video that we all realized we needed. 🌈☺️
I can’t solve your dilemma but I just love love love your new CZcams videos I watch them over and over dozens of times. You are a joy to listen to and watch. We don’t have gophers in Australia. We have plenty of other animals that do similar damage to gardens. There is no magic solution. I have seen some plastic fibre plants that look so real even up close touching them. Especially the cacti style. Maybe you can mix those into garden. Btw you are so inspirational. Thanks for sharing your life. I know it helps so many. 💜
Wow you have a beautiful view! About the gophers, put some peppermint on cotton balls or paper towels and put them around the gopher holes, they don't like the smell of peppermint. :)

Beautiful view Cait. My grandmother use 2 put bottles of water and vinegar slightly buried in the ground and she used to wipe around the outside of the bottle with vinegar and that will keep them away and it won't harm them they can't stand the smell. Good luck love you Cait.

Hi Caitlyn, I have had lots of gopher problems, but usually solve it by taking a hose and filling up each hole with as much water as possible. Actually, it’s kind of fun, because if you wait, you can see them stick their little heads up because they have to get out of there because I’m flooding them out of their home. If you keep doing that, they’ll eventually go down the hill because they know that you’re the master, let me know. Don’t let rich contractors come up and give you an estimate when all it takes is a garden hose.
There is a channel on here on the Chunks. It’s a family of groundhogs who live under the owner’s backyard shed. The owner had a garden and they were eating his veggies he was growing. So, he set up a spot with cameras where he puts out veggies for them each day to eat. They now leave his garden alone. You may not want to do that but groundhogs are getting ready for hibernation so they ate trying to fatten up.
There are some ultrasonic stakes you can use. They use batteries and you just put them in the ground as instructed on the package! I live in the Pacific Northwest and we have moles.(Ick!) They have worked for me, however, my neighbors weren't so happy because the moles migrated to their yard!🤣 Good luck!
Not sure if someone gave you this advice already but I looked up a couple non-poison methods that are supposed to work for getting rid of gophers. 1. Place castor oil pellets, peppermint oil and fabric softener sheets in the gopher burrows. Apparently pet waste and fish scraps might also work but this will most likely drive the gophers to your neighbors yards. Sorry to hear about the gopher troubles but I hope this helps :)
Hello,I have heard of flooding thier dens with water.DE,Diametateous Earth is ground up shells, but this will harm them.I would plant different plants or put big wooden planters with a mix of flowers in them. They may not like peppermint and spearmint plants. The deer are leaving mine alone.Good luck.Beautiful view there.🥰🙏

You rock , Cait! Sorry, about your gopher problem. I live in Colorado (lots of gophers). I am going to ask my co-workers at lunch! Will get back to you!
Although I can't help, since this kind of climate is not what I know about plantwise, but I absolutely ADORE this kind of content, Caitlyn! I'm sure there's plenty of great ideas coming for you! All the best to you.
I had a whole garden eaten this year and someone sent me 40 Dahlia bulbs, that had beautiful flowers. I live in Southern California and they all got sucked into the ground by the gophers, they were very hungry this year, lol! I decided to put my garden and the Dahlias into planters instead and I watch the gophers come up, look around and they still dig holes, but very few now. I agree about how fun it is to plant your own yard, it is like meditation
You should consider plants that repel gophers in the outskirt of your yard, such as rosemary, lavender, catmint...etc. Or use one of those solar powered sonic repellent device that creates ultrasonic tones from Home Depot (cannot be heard by human) to drive them away. That way you could solve the problem without using dangerous toxins or traps. Hope this helps
I do not know anything about gophers but I did a quick search on Google and it came up with many suggestions at a specific store being HomeDepot. Aside from that, if I had your problem I would not plant exactly your gophers favorite 🤩 meal. I wish you luck with your problem. Sending you a big hug from San Juan, Puerto Rico. 🇵🇷
I think a rock garden with different varieties of cactus will give some green colors you want without having to worry about anything. Im sure these unwanted creatures will never munch your plants again. A beautiful fountain will be great too for such a beautiful space.
Start over with a Japanese style rock garden. Water fountain, rocks, sand, few bushes.... Create a Zen area. 🐲🐉🍁

Omg like in the cartoons ! 🤣😂👍🏻
Whack a mole!
It’s a solution but youll be drowning their babies so this way is not considered animal friendly hehe just so you know ;)
Thats not a good idea. Flooding the ground causes more problems than helps...
