Clint Howard, "The Ice cream man", is the guy from The Andy Griffith Show, Ron Howard's brother. He's played in well over 200 parts in movies, and TV, pretty amazing career imo. Jan Michael Vincent (The Cop in the beige jacket, star of "Airwolf"), went downhill pretty fast not to long after this was made. That dude just has a string of bad luck like few have ever seen, 3 car wrecks in the 90's, jail time in the 00's, leg amputation, infection, alcoholism, blindness...just horrible relative to how healthy and well he was in earlier films. One of the last thing's he was quoted "I'm an alcoholic, and that's all I ever want to be".
He had an alcohol problem even when he was in Airwolf.

Three fun facts I know about the movie, 1: Some of the extra's in the movie are people mainly known from the adult industry at the time because the director mostly made porn. 2: they only had one of each dismembered head you see on screen, so they were pretty much treated like glass statues. Well, except for Clint Howard (The Ice Cream man). He went on record stating that he would dick around with them and would toss them at the guy who made the heads. And 3: most of the "Ice cream" we see on screen is actually mashed potatoes they dyed in different colors to make it look like ice cream.
