I have a convincing canon that every role Kurtwood Smith has played are all tied together. After Eric left he went back to his army ways (Rambo 3) for excitement now that his home was boring. He then lost Kitty somehow and became a jaded criminal (21 Jump Street) eventually changing his name and becomeing the super criminal Clarence Bodicker (Robocop). There are more connections, this is just the gist of it.
Over 30 years later, that nut shot through the dress still holds up.
If you can't pull off trick shots like that in the new Robocop game coming out, Imma be pissed.

I was born in 1984, and I grew up watching R-rated action movies like this. My parents didn't have a problem with it. I guess they figured, since these movies (Robocop, Aliens, The Terminator, Predator, Rambo, etc...) had their own toys, videogames, McDonalds Happy Meal collectibles, Halloween costumes, and even Saturday morning cartoons, then they can't be that bad, right? I'd say that watching these films and setting the bar that high for film violence when my young mind was still developing is the reason I simply cannot watch modern day, watered down, PG-13 action movies. And get this, in spite of all that, I have NEVER once in my life even casually considered (let alone seriously considered) getting a gun permit, buying a gun, and going out to the range. Guess that settles the "violent movies/music/videogames makes people violent" theory, doesn't it?

While I agree that someone can be raised in a violent atmosphere and not be violent- thus believing the atmosphere is the sole condition for violent behavior.... Absolutely hilarious! On another note, when I worked IT for a bank I was blown away by their backup system. When I asked why such an old, antiquated piece of tech was used for backups, they said it’s so old nobody knows about it and it predates networking so it can’t be accessed from the outside. Yeah, it is one of my favorite movies of all time.
It's up there with Predator, imo. Its a pretty deep movie tbh. While entertaining on the surface, it raises questions on what it means to be human, and its also serves as a social commentary on the violence found in a lot of 80's action movies and the corporate world of that time. Which is why I find 2014 Robocop disappointing.
