When I was a kid in the seventies we had "sweet cigarettes" you could buy in the sweet shop. Just tubes of sugar in a fake cigarette box.

You can still get sweet cigarettes but they're called candy sticks now to stop kids from associating them with real cigarettes

they did get creative back in the day.. in the mid 80s to early 90s they had candy(gum) that was wrapped like cigs. it had a powder between the paper and gum so you could blow out a time or two on it and it would look like smoke

Oh, I remember the Knives-on-the-Go guy, and Slugworth, if that's who you mean by "Nazi Illuminati." That kind of collective manipulation of memory is known as "The Mandela Effect," named after when people thought that Nelson Mandela died in jail. I think it may also be known as "The Berenstain Effect" since a lot of people misremember Stan Berenstain's last name being spelled with three e's instead of two e's and an a. My jury's out, but I do remember pronouncing it "stain" instead of "stein" or "steen."

I feel like some people don't get the whole guy with knifes, being a brit we had them a lot growing up. People would go round with trolleys looking for spare iron and metal to sell on - they'd literally shout 'any old iron!' I remember hearing that as a kid randomly in the streets in the day.
I think most channels edited out the tinkerer scene
the knife salesman bit i think was always edited out of tv viewings for time and becasue it was considered unneeded for the plot.
I know it's an old video. But the river was actual chocolate, on the commentary the actors said it smelled putrid due to the hot temperature and spoiled milk.

If you watch the original there is a hard note in the music that hits just as he opens the flap. I'm sure that was timed but not the girls chin being there. Very funny and never noticed it until now.

Whenever I watch a good Gene Wilder movie, I always get that "aww" feeling. He's done such great work, played some lovable characters, seemed like a great guy and it makes me retroactively extra sad that he died.
Truth. There was something about that guy that was special. One of my favorites is Silver Streak along with this one.
Watch *Woman In Red* . His acting in that movie would be considered creepy, and not charming by today's standards.

Fun fact, they used some sort of harsh fire extinguisher foam for that scene that fucked up everyone's skin pretty badly. A few of them required days of medical treatment and shooting had to be delayed while they healed.

Nah that's a half truth, some of the oompa loompas were from Turkey or Germany but others like Rusty Goff for instance, were from the UK
