I think something not mentioned here that has more nuance to it than it seems is the PROPER lubricating of the guide pins. More is not better, often causing issues with either suck down, where the caliper can't fully release, or having having air trapped inside the guide pin channel which also effects brake operation.

I've seen some mechanics only clean the guide pins and re-install dry because the lube just picks up dirt as well
