I love Athens 🇬🇷❤️
We love Athens too!
I really enjoyed the video .. very informative ..
and Athens is my bucket list ..
.. greetings from subscriber 🇮🇩 Indonesia ..
Just an amazing city fullstop!
Athens is an amazing city indeed.
Lots of good information about the rooftops of acropolis.
Wow guys, crazy crowds around the Acropolis 🙂 Great tip, but sometimes all this rush-rush takes away a little of the pleasure of visiting a place... Thank you for taking us with you, we visited Athens a while ago and can't wait to go back. Cheers from Toronto!
Very true. Everyone has to travel at their own pace. Our fun is trying to stay ahead of the crowds, but it’s not for everyone. Thanks for watching! We always love going back to Athen.
Well done, you did a very good job..
Thank you! We are going back to Greece this summer and can't wait.
My favourite city in the world, thank you for a great video it bought tears to my eyes and warmed my heart 🇬🇷❤️
Thank you so much for the kind words. We love Athens too!
Amazing video 💙 going in June, can’t wait!
The Zappeion was build by 2 rich businessmen/ philanthropists, Evangelos & his cousin, Konstantinos Zappas (hence the name) in preparation for the first modern Olympics, designed by the famous Danish architect Th. Hansen . Sadly, Evangelos Zappas passed away before this and his cousin finished the build.
The Zappas cousins financed with their massive fortune several schools, libraries, scholarships/ educational programs etc. not only in Greece but also in Romania & Albania ( they were born in N. Epirus which is part of Albania.)
Fun Fact: The famous US Rock musician, Frank Zappa was a descendant of them.
Thanks for the info. That is a fun fact!
Beautiful; I love it!
Thank you! Cheers!
Wonderful video, very well presented and very informative. I am very glad you liked my city! Keep on traveling!
Thank you very much, that means a lot coming from someone who lives in Athens.
Ahhh …The city I was born in and raised in the Athenian riviera of Glyfada ! I was 17 when I left and I’m finally going back after 38ys, in a couple of months! Although I remember everything, the highlights in this video are great pointers in planning what to see! Amazing video Thank You!
Nice and informative, thank you
Going to Greece for our 40th anniversary
Have and amazing time! And Happy 40th Anniversary, you are going to love it and what a place to celebrate!
Great VDO, very informative. I’m planning to visit Athen soon. Thanks for sharing ❤
Lovely people, lovely video, thank you!😊
Aw. thank you very much!
If you get to the Acropolis early enough you can watch them raise the flag. Also, the Olympics started in Olympia. Only the modern Olympics were presented in Athens. The ancient Athenians had the Pananthenaic Games in honor of Athena. It was not one of the four Sacred Games.
Thanks for that. You are correct, I should have specified the modern Olympics. And I am wondering if we can see them raise the flag at the Acropolis, because we were there for opening and had to stand and wait for the soldiers to come back down after the flag raising, they didn't let us in until that was done. I'd love to find out if it is possible to see them raise it. Cheers!
@@ThePlanetD The last time we were there we were able to watch the soldiers raise the flag. We got there early in the morning, as soon as they opened, and the soldiers came in and raised the flag and sang the national anthem (badly) and then marched out. We were able to watch it all.'
Fantastic content. Good editing, good mix of stuff for all types of visitors, thanks for uploading
Nice info. Planning to go there in october. What period did you visit during this video?
Very nice video ! I like it so much . Thank you for sharing . have a nice week my friend !
Enjoyed the video a lot. Lots of good information and well presented. Thank you.
great video
Really enjoyed your video. Just checking, changing of the guard is 10am or 11am on Sunday? I thought 11?
Well done video y'all. Thanks for all the tips!
Love love LOVE your videos. So much helpful information! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much! I hope you have a great time in Athens!
nice trip! wish i can visit athene someday . btw which camera did you use ?
Well done on the coverage, thorough and relaxing watch
thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Lovely Video Guys; enjoy your travels💯💯❤️❤️!!!!
(Advice from an Athens local) If you want to go for swimming in Athens (highly recommended), then the best pick is either in Vouliagmeni Area which is a very pretty place (Akti Vouliagmenis or Astir Beach) or at Voula District (Dot Beach Vibes). These sandy kids friendly beaches have very organized beach bars and restaurants, and very high end services. No need to go too far south to get a proper swim. Plus beach bars that far south are too crowded because they are cheap, and their services are subpar.
Thanks for the tip. The next time we are in Athens we will follow your advice!
@@ThePlanetD Keep this list of food places close!
(Advice from an Athenian) If you want food in Athens please go here:
Koutouki Kalypso (Traditional Greek food) - Faliron District (dont miss this taverna, get lamb chops, zuchini balls, tzatziki, krasomezes and try many other appertizers)
Fidel Asador (Greek Food Gourmet) - Glyfada District
Base Grill (Meat Restaurant) - Glyfada District & Perister District (get the picania steak, and the potatoes with the eggs)
Thanassis (Best Kebab in the World) - City Center Monastiraki
Mpampis (Traditional Greek Fish Restaurant) - Vari District (order the octopus, skordalia, and for fish get the barbequed lavraki)
Mparmpa Xaralampos (Traditional Greek Meat Restaurant) - Vari District (Try kokoretsi, kontosouvli, lamb, lamb chops)
Brutus (High end Meat Restaurant) - Kolonaki area city center
Ok, and here are some Italian cuisine restaurants which offer far better Italian food than that you'll have in Italy.
Ovio (Italian Restaurant) - Near Syntagma Square (Try pizza best dough you've ever had, this place is owned by a famous chef in Greece)
Mario & Luigi Eataliants (Italian Restaurant) - ilioupoli District (Try pizza again and past, everythign is great)
Fancy Dining with a Fantastic View (Expensive)
Top: Ithaki (Greek Gourmet Food) - Vouliagmeni District (Book in advance, a table outside preferably during sunset)
Top: Beef Bar (High end Meat Restaurant) - Vouliagmeni District (Book in advance, a table outside preferably during sunset)
Crabo (Greek Cuisine a little bit of everything) - Vouliagmeni District (This place is actually on a beach, and ups the music later on so you can eat and party right afterwards, great food)
I really enjoyed your video. Great info and you packed so much into one video.
Thank you so much ,we had a lot of fun exploring Athens.
well made, thanks!
Thank you very much!
Very informative! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Cheers! Thanks for watching.
Great video. Just not sure how one could possibly fit that much in 3 days. It seems to me that you either need more time, a lot more or have to rush through things.
I always thought the parthenon was the acropolis 😅 Only when I got there I realised the mistake
Acropolis is the entire fortress complex. Parthenon is the main temple.
Great video and list - speaking from experience!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing nice video and great tips. Chaos
Thanks for watching! Glad we could help.
Excellent video - can't believe how much ground you covered in such a short time! Thanks so much, very informative!
Thank you very much! It was easy to see a lot with the museum pass. But we did stay out from sunrise to sunset and ran around a lot :D. Glad you enjoyed it!
The is the best tour of Athens Ive seen, well done !!!
Wow! Thank you very much, I appreciate you letting me know and I am glad you enjoyed the video.
❤❤❤❤
This was a great video, thank you! Me and my boyfriend have just booked Athens, Naxos, Santorini and Rhodes for our birthdays next year, his 30th and my 28th, I'm super excited and your video has made me even more so! Can't wait to check out the places you mentioned, we are also staying at the Astor Hotel as well so it was nice seeing that on the video!
Amazing! You are going to love Greece. You've created an excellent itinerary! So cool you are staying at the Astor, it's a great location and a good price which is nice. The view from breakfast is out of this world.
Very informative, we're going 1st time in October😊 Well done!
Thank you very much. Have a great time! Make sure to get the 6 museum pass, it's the best!
All great except the first Olympic/ original Olympics were in Olympia.
First modern Olympics :D
Hi there love your video, was wondering what the name of the hotel you stayed on the Athens Riviera? thanks
Great video, thanks! Amazed that you did all this in 3 days. It will help me with planning my itinerary for my visit next year. Do you feel like you were rushed to do it all in 3 days or was it just at a steady pace?
We didn't feel rushed as Athens is quite easy to get around. However, we do enjoy a full day, you don't have to do everything and can spend more time enjoying a long lunch or cocktails on the terrace. But if you want to see it all, it's definitely doable.
😍😍😍😍👍👍😍😍😍😍
Thank you very much for watching!
What’s the name of the multi pass you purchased? Great video, thank you
It was the six museum pass.
I wish I knew the rooftop bar when I was there :)
They are the best. Next time you go, make sure to seek out a few, the views are awesome.
Great video, how much was the taxi to the hotel on the beach, the one that was 30 minutes away from Athens?
We stayed at the hotel and they charged us 45 Euro. We might have got a deal because we stayed at the hotel and then we used the same guy for Poseidon €60 for the trip and sightseeing and then waiting for us as we explored Poseidon on our own. It was then €45 Euro back to Athens.
@@ThePlanetD thanks for the into
YOU MAKE A VERY GOOD VIDEO ABOUT A PLACE WHICH IS A TRUE WONDER, BUT YOU FORGOT TO MENTIONED THAT THE PARTHENON AND ATHENS IT IS THE CRADLE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION, IS WHERE DEMOCRACY WAS FOUND ARCHITECTURE SCIENCE THEATRE MUSIC AND SO ON.....ITS GOOD TO MENTIONED I THINK, SO YOU CAN MAKE IT MORE INTERESTING FOR THE VIEWERS...BESIDES THAT YOU HAVE DONE A GOOD JOB AND WE THANK YOU !!!!
Thanks, you are correct. It is the cradle of civilization. We talk about that in our blog post on ThePlanetD.com. It's difficult to fit so much into one video, but we can go into more depth when we write about it. Cheers!
Love Dave’s shirts! Where are they from? Thanks!
I believe we got them at The Bay, it’s a department store chain here in Canada.
I found this a confusing video. The fast showing of the. Names of places made it impossible to not keep stopping the video and going back to get it right.
Also i was confused by the back and forth of the acropolis. Mentioned at beginning and then at end as well. Trying to figure out how many days we need there and want to see all the highlights. Not sure i feel a flow of where to go when.
Thanks for the feedback, we'll make sure to keep the names up longer in the future. And as far as the Acropolis, we just mentioned the museum at the end. It's pretty easy to figure out, but good feedback. We'll make sure to keep it together in the next one. If you want to go to the Museum while visiting the Acropolis you can. If you check the description you'll also see every place we stopped as well.

When were you there? I'm hoping for good weather end of Oct😅.
We were there in July/August. October should be good. Middle of summer is very hot, so it might be more comfortable in October.
Hello! Would you be so kind and shared the information for your ticket. I heard you said one ticket for all the entrance. Thank you
We purchased the 6 museum / archeological site pass. It was great!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🥂
"free of people" - you are amongst them
Haha! Yes, we were there. So people were there. But there wewre less.
how do you buy your tickets in advance? we are going for only 30 hours and need to manage our time there. Would you suggest a tour or ? just go your own pace
We bought the Athens 6 Archeological site pass and it worked great. You can get it here in advance theplanetd.com/recommends/athens/archaeologicalsites It gets you into 6 of the top Athens attractions and you can see a lot of them in one day. Start at the Acropolis in the morning and then head to the Ancient Agora, then Roman Agora, Hadrian's Library and then Temple of Zeuss. You can pop into Kerameikos Ancient Cemetery on your way to the Ancient Agora from the Acropolis as well.
@@ThePlanetD If I go to the link above and try to book it for a date in May it's not available. Just available for the 27th (today)-31st March then unavailable beyond that. Any reason?
@@donwilson8376 I'm not sure, I just checked myself, it looks like I can only do up to March 31 as well. I'll do some digging. I hope they are not discontinuing this pass because it is amazing. I'll get back to you.
🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷♥️♥️♥️
At what time of the year did you visit?
This was in July.
In average 60.000 people visit Acropolis every day.Early, or late visit is a more clever idea.
Yep, great tip! Thanks for sharing.
Lycabettus Hill is not the highest point in Athens.
Well, it is the highest point in Central Athens and in the city. www.lycabettushill.com/ Sure there are higher mountains outside of Athens proper.
True ! It's Tourkovounia
The highest point of Athens is Tourkovounia
Leekaveetos
bro your pronunciations are crazy
Athens is just okay. It is a very bland city with no colour.
Too much of your faces not the places
i think it was the perfect mix. you can look at the places by just googeling it lol
At least they’re making a video for those planning on A visit so you get ideas of what times to check out the Historic sites. Everybody’s vlogging style is different; you shouldn’t criticize but instead Appreciate 💯💯💯.
how did you guys get the six site pass. Thanks guys
HAY REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE IF YOU MENTION THE PRICES EN DE HOTEL TRANSPORTATION AN MORE
It's difficult to put in the prices of hotels etc because they change regularly. It's pretty easy to look up prices online at the actual websites when booking your trip. Good luck with your bookings.
