@@anabang1251 They still won't net any profit though selling their old PS5, So if they bought it retail before the price drop to $449, that means they spent already $534.99 after tax. They should be able to sell at a generous price of $300 right now if they sold. That makes it about $234.99 dollar loss. They then put that towards a new PS5 pro lets say it is priced at $599.99 that'll be $641.98 after tax. So if you go ahead and make that $341.98 because you sold your old ps5 at $300. You don't really end up paying any less on a PS5 pro you are just paying more money overall on a ps5 console. It is overall a net loss because you lose $234.99 on the original investment then pay out of Pocket $341.98. Which again doesn't save you any money really in the long run. You woulda been better waiting til the pro releases to buy a ps5 than to buy an original or slim at that point. Because it will just cost you more if you buy then sell then buy the new one a few years later.

True, the Xbox 360 did launch in December of 2005 but the original launch systems didn't come with an HDMI port. That came in later revisions of the system.

Exactly. It took around a year and a half until it got a revision with a hdmi output. I had a Feb 2006 manufactured one and it had the gigantic A/V connector with a SD and HD switch on the side of the cable.

I’m not paying $70 for no game ever. I never pay full price. BOTW and TOFK are the only games I’ve ever paid full price for and I had a coupon for $20 for each. So, technically I didn’t pay full price for them either. Greedy sob’s never gonna get me.

I used to get FOMO for new released videogames but seeing what's happening with the Star Wars Outlaws game, the price on it, content locked behind season passes and all the nonsensical shit with AAA game developers.... that FOMO is out the window! And you know what? That's why retro gaming is my comfort zone, and before anybody says anything, I'm aware retrogame prices are ridiculous and stupid, but still, still better to play a full game you own whenever and however you want.

Ubisoft will be fine, because when the company drops in value enough, Microsoft will swoop in and buy them, and the greedy Ubisoft executives that ran the company into the ground will make even more money on the sale. It's funny how gamers keep acting as if these corporate executives really care. They don't. Their salaries are contracts that have to be paid out even if the company goes bankrupt. They get their millions of dollars while walking away, and average employees get nothing.
Metroid Prime 4 is not going to release this year. Maybe in 2017, they planned to have it come out for the Switch, but it's pretty obvious that they're going to save it for the next system. Maybe they'll do a Breath of the Wild style release with a version on Switch, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if they just skip Switch altogether and go straight to the next system.

The PS4 pro was my first PS4 system. And I barely found any game that played at a proper 60fps that didn't already run at 60 on the base system.
Plus the game it would work best on the uncapped monster hunter world. Made it super inconsistent. It would jump from 40 fps to 60 for a few seconds then back to 40/mids 30s

As for emulators, one consideration apart from retro would be if the company can still profit from it, you can still get xbox games and 360 from the store until july of this year, but wii u and 3ds already closed eshop, and ps3/psp/vita games can still be purchased and there still no end date for that.

Square enix seems to have a type of game they WANT to be a big seller, and will ignore their smaller successes because it doesn't fit the idea of what they think should sell. I think the execs look at small projects like tactics ogre and octopath and just think, "why aren't you a bigger flashier title?"
They're stuck in a mindset of bigger is better and it's really not doing them any favors.
To me, ray tracing looks worse half the time. So, I'm not excited about better ray tracing on the PS5 Pro.

Indie Direct tomorrow
The jump from ps4 to ps4 pro was not worth it all, i feel like its gonna be the same deal for the ps5 pro, ill stick to my ps5 disc version.
Hopefully Evercade jumping into the CD era means more PS1/Sega CD hidden gems are coming to the platform soon.
The current Evercade carts are just a chip that is compatible with SD card pinout. You can find schematics online for creating adaptors that let you use a Gameboy cartridge slot and adapt it to an SD to USB card reader and connect the carts to your PC. That would be a great video!
Have yet to see any iOS emulator apps here in the Canadian App Store ever. lol. I tried looking may had already been taken down or never added for Canada. Heck cash app is not available here and I had to change my region to USA back in the day to start playing Pokemon go day one. I prob just missed it?

Nintendo is F’ing up. Seem completely ill prepared for 2024, even if they have a new system up ahead.
What's going on with the Switch right now feels exactly like when Nintendo started to phase out the 3DS. Support was reduced to a bare minimum with barely any first or second party games releasing on it. Except by that point in time, the Switch was already out on the market. I assume Nintendo's next console will be ready to go either this year or next, but it's strange that there's virtually no information on it. Normally console manufacturers like to build up hype for their next system _before_ they start winding down their current one.

I thought the giga cart was going to be a small fpga chip flash cart that you can put inside a set of larger adapters that would allow it to work in any game console. One expensive cartridge and a whole bunch of cheap shells with basic PCBs only. Imagine if you could have a flash cart that would work in every system for about $100-$200 with flashable firmware to work in even more consoles and computers
I am not getting tricked into buying a pro again. They promised 4k and I was hoping for better frames and in most games that was not the case. Ghost of Tsushima and last of us were 30 and didn’t run in true 4k. The u.i was even slow.

Final Fantasy Rebirth, PS5 Pro, don't care. This generation's difficulty with 60fps motivated me to move on to a PC. I'm currently playing Horizon Forbidden West again but on a PC. The best way to describe the quality is it looks like photo-mode on the PS5 except it is all the time.

I reiterate, any console that is no longer being built and sold on retail is Retro. Any videogame made for such consoles are retro too. However, in regards to emulation IMO, this applies only to videogames out of print that also can’t be played anymore in the new console, and Virtual Console doesn’t count. Per ex. back in the day, you could still buy new PS1 games and play them in PS 2 consoles when they no longer made PS1 consoles. Those disks can’t be played anymore, nor are they sold, save some special cases, hence, Retro. For now It’d say up to PS3 era counts.

About the emulators, "retro" should be consoles that are no longer manufactured by their companies, so the PS3 and 360 would still be considered retro and could be legally safe in court

I still don't have a PS5. I'm now waiting for the PS5 Pro, just like I did with the PS4 generation. PS largely doesn't have enough on it that's not also on Xbox Series X or Switch. And still, there's probably only 3 or 4 games I'm currently interested in on PS5. Just the use case for me is slim.

Releasing Metroid Prime 4 this year makes sense because launching a game with a new console will actually hurt sales of the game (at least in the first year), and with a franchise like Metroid that's not a good risk to take.
MP4 being the only big Switch game in fall 2024 gives it maximum reach.
I’m pretty sure I had a dos emulator on the IPhone close to 10 years ago. I can’t remember what it was called, but it played some text based adventures like Zark. I realize it’s not the same as console emulation, but I’m not surprised Apple doesn’t care about emulating dead systems.

I have a ps5, pc and xonex (not series no need since my pc is fairly beefy) if pssr is good, i wouldnt mind buying a pro since i dont exactly like waiting for sony games to come to pc. Keeping expectations low with pssr being somewhere between checkerboard rendering from ps4 and dlss 1.0
