I didn't watch when it first came on but my dad liked the show and had taped them ,when I borrowed some tapes I fell in love with it, especially the opening music and scenery

I couldn't see the credits after the first episode but I could swear that the woman who lead the Daughters of the Fight for Independence was the same actress who played Mrs. Richards from the classic Fawlty Towers episode Communication Problems.

It is a farce comedy. Details hardly matter. Winter of 1775 Concord was 8 months in the past anyway. It is just joke setup and punchlines. You don't question a joke...just laugh or haruumph.
Thank goodness, they revamped the show after season two or itbprobably wouldn’t have survived. The Devane character wasn’t funny and bringing in Michael and Stephanie was a stroke of brilliance.
Bob Newhart, a true comedic genius. I first saw Newhart on The Dean Martin Show doing the now classic toupee in the cheese dip skit with Dean Martin. He had Dean, the entire audience and I laughing our heads off. Dean Martin was one of the great straight men of comedy, and he is and was a true comedic genius himself, but he could not keep from falling apart laughing while Bob Newhart was going through the skit.
