She was housekeeper on McMillan and Wife, probably when she was also Ida. Joe was cute. I can't recall what their problem was, to cause the divorce. Those jean purses and shoulder bags were popular during most of the 1970s. They were of various styles. Jeans handbags were very popular during 1973-76, I was a teenager then, and never used a purse then, but remember other females having them. Mom had one, too. That plastic on everything! Imagine sitting on it in July with no a/c. Rhoda is even insecure about Joe's parents. Joe is very cute, looks like Tom Jones, but he reminds me of Curt Willard on The Waltons, who married Mary Ellen. Ida is hilarious on this. I bet the way Ida and Rhoda acted in this ep made him feel as though he was in the twilight zone. He always seemed to like Ida though, despite her snoopy behavior. While single, Rhoda often seemed to be after Joe, to the point of smothering him.

Wow, Alan Alda's dad playing Joe's father - and this is the only time (I think) that we saw Joe's parents. Joe's mother was at the wedding but that was the last we saw of her. I guess no one was a match for Ma Morgenstern!

I had a jeans handbag in high school during 1976 and 1977. Nancy Walker is hilarious. I love her sharp wit. I never knew anyone who had plastic on furniture. Mom had 5 kids and never did that.

I wish I had a nice mother like the character played by Nancy Walker. Rhoda was sort of the attractive aunty I wished I had in my family as a teenager in 1970s. The actor who plays Joe's father was Alan Alda's father Robert Alda.

I didn't start watching shows like Mary Tyler Moore and Rhoda till they had re-runs in the 1980's. Loved M.T.M show, Rhoda, Mary and Phyllis, oh my gosh they made me laugh when they were together! How cool to have an apt. in a huge Victorian home. Valerie Harper was so pretty, but I never liked the guy they paired her up with as her husband. Loved her mother, what a kick. lol
I miss shows like Mary Tyler Moore and Rhoda...funny and great characters. Haven't watched T.V. in years, nothing but ugly bilge. I go to You tube and watch reruns.

Thank you for uploading! I really appreciate it. I'm not from the US and I'm just starting to discover 70's sitcoms such as the Golden Girls, Mary Tyler Moore, Maude, Rhoda, etc. I'm amazed to see and identify some actors who played different characters in different sitcoms. For instance, Nancy Walker also played Angela, Sopia Petrillo's sister (The Golden Girls) Harold Gould as Miles (The Golden Girls).

Not as many fat people them....
      Nor were they as BIG.
I saw very few fat people growing up in the 60s and 70s.
