- Using the Graco Ultra to spray this bare plaster. The electric had gone down so this came in handy to spray the mist coat in this room and 2 bathrooms.

Thinking of selling my gx21 and getting the ultra. I just dont get the use out of it that i was hoping for. I think the ultra would come in handy for those smaller jobs.
Yes it has for me. I have the extended cup aswel so i can have two cups ready to go . 2 cups usually got 1 coat on an average sized bedroom ceiling i found
The GX21 is an awful sprayer, had one and hated it, the 390 is far better
Hi Simon. I’m wanting to get a sprayer of some description and am hoping you could give me some advice.
I am a sprayer (been doing cars for 30+years. I need to decorate my house from top to bottom and I’m not looking forward to doing it with a roller or a brush. What machine and setup would you recommend for what I need to do.
As I said, I am a sprayer and very used to masking, prepping etc. I’m not looking to go into business, just decorate my own house in the most time efficient way.

Both with the budget sprayer from screwfix and bnq. I used a friends he bought for a renovation. I sprayed a 5 bed house and woodwork with it ha. So suprised it did everything from mistcoat top coats and woodwork, waterbased paints. Probably want to spend another £100 or so on accessories and youd be away. No miracle machine but it works for the money

So what I learned from that was .. get a 514 tip and I’d probably need an extension (I have high ceilings) is there anything else that you think would be a good addition?
Would that spray emulsion at the same sort of rate?
If I was happy to spend say £500 ish, would I get a noticeably better machine. If so, could you recommend something?
@900daysandcounting5 well for that paint the 514 worked ok as i was spraying woodwork.
A 517 is a general size for walls and ceilings and 210 or 310 for woodwork. A second hand graco gxff or gx21 or a qtech qt190 would be around 500 is on Facebook market place or ebay second hand. Both more accurate with pressure tuning in and better made. But all are just pumps that send the paint to the gun and its the tips that make the magic happen

@900daysandcounting5 ha ye for sure. Those units second hand are great. Plus a new pump is around 100quid and an easy fix
What sprayer do you recommend for new builds
Id be looking at a tritech t5, qtech qt290 or graco 495
If you start doing loads and loads then up the sprayer to a bad boy graco 695 or tritech T9 T11. They will run all day and have so much power
I believe your expert opinion and would like to add that Graco 360 w/variable speed is worth for no job! It does have only two tips you can use duh. It spits like a mad lama. I tried different products with different speeds and results are horrific. Amount of spit’age and overspray is beyond belief. My point is, if anyone is looking for a weekend warrior type of results get at least Ultra. Not 360 under any circumstances. 👊
The 360 wasnt a great unit but they did make improvements when they released the ultra

i use to own same machine i think i only had my for 3 weeks i only done 4 doors then pump went i thought bloody hell right money pit 🤦🏻♂️
Heard alot have issues. Ive still got the my original one from before they were released.

@Gareth Davies i did probably 300l with it. It still works, but its load ha. Ive got a pump ready but i dont use it too often. I also have the ultra max which i use too. I never really ran it harder than power 6
If you've got all these other machines, why would you buy this waste of money, why not just use a full size machine, it's takes just as long to set up and clean, I know so many tradesmen that have bought these little graco's and then regreted it, their really not design for longevity, better to put money into an entry level say qtech
To share experience with others and show how they work. I do recommend a gx unit over these but they had their money back 100× over. People had bad experiences and alot didnt clean it properly.
