After watching your videos on this gun I bought one. I used it to paint my new garage addition. Worked awesome. Sprayed the entire inside and outside along with he roll up garage door. Did like you instructed, taped the gun up and taped off the areas not to be sprayed. Worked awesome, clean up a breeze, gun still looks brand new. Thats Idaho Painter. Great videos.
I’ve got the corded version and it is an absolute pleasure to run. I know they’re intended for smaller projects, which we started out just spraying doors and trim-work, but before we knew it we had painted our entire basement with no problems whatsoever.
Cleaning is also very simple compared to other handhelds. I’ve had 2 other handheld brands before and cleaning always was such a pain. These Graco’s require cleaning 3 main components and that’s it. Would highly recommend!
Chris
Bought today to spray some registers for our HVAC contractor. Absolutely love it. Works as advertised. This is what I wanted when I purchased the Titan Flexspray a couple offers ago - very disappointed with that Flexspray (but love my Titan 440 Impact) but really like the Graco quality and easy clean up. Great for smaller projects
Your videos are important because your review and input are invaluable based on your experience. Although I purchased before watching this I have considered your input on many things in the past.
Just want to say thanks
Im a painter as well, been watching your videos for bout a year now anytime i need any information and i usually find it on your site. Thanks man.
I bought one of these sprayers and love it. Easiest sprayer for small jobs I have ever used. A good tool and reasonably priced.
How much the price?
I'm a GC but I also do handyman work. I bought this sprayer 6 months ago for small projects. It's pretty cool. Easy to pack up and "go". I was working on a job with a high end professional painter and he told me he had one of these. He said make sure you keep this unit extremely clean as the unit cannot be taken apart for repairs like a regular sprayer can. Also, keep in mind FFLP stands for "fine finish low pressure". I found even with this gun and tip running at around 4-7 is plenty enough. More than that and I get a lot of dust. I start at lower pressure and turn up until the edges feather and the fingered edges are gone spraying on test surface. :)
Chris you are the godfather of painting pretty much every painter here in Melbourne Australia know about you!
i recently started up a painting business with my wife and we got a graco 360 and man i love this gun!
I really want a Greco handheld sprayer! Thanks so much! Great video Chris! Have a super day!!! Susan
My old boss bought this sprayer from either Sherwin Williams or Kelley Moore and used it on doors, base board, touch ups and small jobs, great sprayer, easy clean up, even sent out /registered it and got an extra spray tip.
I bought one yesterday. Hurrying to help my son...Restoring 4 wooden desks, as well as painting walls. We are restoring an older building my son is going to open as a addiction rehab...Sanded 2 wooden desks and sprayed a first coat of primer on both in 3 hours! Today the desks look so professionally done. I am SO in love with this tool!!! Thanks for the video. I washed and ran clear water through this to clean it. Very simple! I didn't know about the last step and need to go buy that product today. I threw away 2 bags last night. I will buy more and reuse them. Thank you very much for the video. I learned more and reassured myself in the fact I CAN DO THIS!
I bought one of the corded units to use on latticework on decks. I've only used it once so far, and love it. Planning to use it again next week for some stair stringers.
Just want to say thanks for all the info you give us viewers! I'm a new up and coming painter here in central California and I've learned a lot from your videos.
Glad to help, thanks for watching!
This man runs circles around any pro painter I have ever seen! His videos are awesome.
Check out zk painting
He’s a walking commercial these days.
Thanks Chris. After watching this video I went and got the Graco Truecoat 360 DSP electric. I can't afford the fancy cordless powered by Dewalt batteries. I had bought a Wagner Flexio 3000, which I don't know how I missed it, I thought it was airless, nope. After trying it out anyway I returned it. I had 0.31 mil plastic taped up over vanity, shower/tub insert and floor. When I started the Wagner it was blowing way too much air and the plastic and the masking tape started to come off. Graco Truecoat 360 DSP electric works great for a 36 sq ft bathroom and it actually sprayed paint unlike the Wagner which I never got to work properly anyway.
just bought this yesterday based on your review. We are renovating our home to sell after renting it out for 15 years. I'm painting the interior myself to help save costs. This is going to make ceilings so much better. im going to use it to paint our kitchen cabinets too. it was super easy to use even for a novice. using the 18inch Wooster roller on the walls was a huge time saver. thanks for the great videos!
Hope it turns out good, thanks for watching!
The Ultra comes with a 32 oz cup. You can purchase a 42 oz cup system to use on it. That helps a little with coverage between refills. You can also buy several cup systems and fill them up ahead of time to speed things up on larger jobs. Having an extra cup system or two ready with water for cleaning is also something to think about. I found the extra large cup systems for around $24. I purchased several. Having said that I am sure my roller will still get some use. For a large room I could see myself using the roller for a coat or two and then using the Ultra for touch ups and trim.
I have the corded version. I love it! I've sprayed SW multi surface primer, Pro Classic and Resilience through a 310 fflp tip and all worked great. Even at low speed setting I could move fairly quickly and not see pulses or stripes in the finish.
Thanks for sharing Shawn!
Nailed some small ceilings and 2 doors so far with this gun. The results for both were fantastic and I'm looking forward to trying out my new FFLP 410 tip on some trim at the next job.
Glad you like it too! Thanks for watching!
Have had one since the came out , Mines the corded model , Did have a few issue with it , However every time I emailed Graco the responded and took care of the problems, excellent customer service , have used it to paint cabinets quite often.
thanks for the thoughts
I have one too love it for small jobs or when I have no power hookup. On cleanup you can hold gun upside down and don’t have to squeeze air out.
Works pretty good. Not only are you getting fine results, your getting a good workout lol. It gets heavy after a while. Just did some doors, crown, chair rails, and baseboard. I find that 514 tip puts out too much paint and begins to run. 310 and 510 worked out great on 4-5 setting shooting SW proclassic.
Orlando Almonte That "Pro-Classic" by Sherwin Williams is the 💣! I'd used other SW brands as per the job but tried Pro-Classic on the last house we flipped and it's super high quality paint.
Great video! You will find it cleans better if you turn the machine upside-down when you have water in it. You don't have to prime/get air out either that way. I give it a good shake whilst upside-down. You can also only use waterbased with the ultra, ultra max is the one for solvent based paints. I love mine so much I bought a second one!
Thanks for watching!
Brad Ritchie you can use oil based with the ultra
I purchased the Ultra cordless and yes, you can spray oil based paints with it. Just not flammable solvents. Works great for small projects.
water or mineral spirit thinnable paint is compatible.
@Paint Life Great video! I use the ultra for all of my cabinet and trim work. I have upgraded the batteries to the 5 Amp hour ones and also do a fresh battery change at paint refill. This helps to ensure good battery power and fine finish to the end of the project. Low battery + low pressure setting = paint spatter.
lol and he was complaining about the toys r us batteries they come with.
What do you use for cabinets? I just used Ben Moore Advance with this sprayer and put it on too heavy on a few doors and had to sand and respray the next day. First time spraying cabinets as well as using this gun. Tried to put on a light coat at around 5 setting but tried moving up and down a couple notches. Not sure what I did wrong.. Cheers
I picked one of these up about a year ago. Its take a lot time and waste out of doing small spray outs. Working for a college as there in house facilities painter I get alot of small jobs and being able to spray without having to prime and clean one of my larger pumps is awsome. Also maintenance is a breeze. I really recommend it but as always make sure u keep it clean.
Thanks for sharing Joseph!
I tried with chalky paint with 10% water , works great !!! Amazing even finish !!! With 310 fflp tip , just needs practice on scrap material ,
Thanks for sharing Roman!
Chris after watching your video on the graco handheld sprayer I went out and purchased the 360 VSP Handheld Paint Sprayer. I used it to spray the trim and doors in the Master Bedroom and Master Bathroom, I used the smallest of the two tips that come with this and after experimenting with the different speed control found that 5 was a good speed and delivered a good spray pattern. There was quite a bit of overspray which I didn't expect. I wish they had a smaller tip size to avoid the overspray because the trim isn't very wide. I sprayed the doors and cranked up the speed to maximum and it worked very well, only problem is the paint runs out very quickly, but very easy to refill, so I can deal with that. Overall, I love this sprayer and works very good. My next project is spaying my oak cabinets white, I really have to mask very carefully for this project, your videos helped me a lot in all aspects of painting. I used to hate painting and was very sloppy at it, but after watching your videos I learned so much and can now say I enjoy painting now and am very neat. Thanks Chris, your the best..
Glad to hear, thanks for watching!
Robert James there are a lot of different size tips for the Ultra.
I have that gun as well. What annoys me most about it, is that it pulsates too much, and I can tell in the final finish. Setting the speed higher, and it put way too much material on the door that it ran. I am not impressed with the VSP.
I do have the X18 Pro stand model. I have the blue guard which lets me use some of the newer FFLP tips, but the downside is you use a 1/4 of a gallon just to fill the hose (okay maybe not that much, but still a lot)
Thanks for your response. It does pulsate too much at the lower settings so I had to use the highest settings for a good flow. I had the same problems with the paint running on my doors, finally I figured out that if I moved the gun faster while spraying I did not get the runs, problem was it was my last door. Your right on about the X18, it's good for big jobs but not small ones......
Robert James you can buy a 110 tip now.
Wow. This thing is amazing. Definitely going to grab a portable sprayer.
Been thinking about getting one of these for a while now and this has convinced me to go for it. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Regards from a decorator in the UK 👍
Good luck
*@Jody Legg* I’m a new build house basher for Brum 🏴 & I’ve had the Ultra-Max version since it came out as our gaffer brought them for the lads for around 700 notes, I only use it for the doors on new builds had to replace the pump a few times, they’re not really designed for most jobs in my opinion, I just find it ideal for doors. 👍🏻
Hey Chris, I flip houses & do a lot of painting. I watch just about all of your videos & have referred a lot of people to your channel. I think as far as professional painters go you're pretty much The Man! Please keep the videos coming.
Also, I sure could use one of those sprayers so are they on the market yet? I know you give these items away after you review them sometimes so hook a brother up!
You can enter to win a sprayer on my website at www.theidahopainter.com
Can that spray use for old best paint
@@Idahopainter Can that spray used old best paint? Just let me know please I am from Jamaica Always watch your channel I learn a lot from you Keep on doing the good work

Great video. Just bought one. Can't wait to give it a run.
Planning to buy it for painting my home and project race car 🏎. Thank you for the video!
aha your trying so hard not to smile at how happy u are with it lol, i want one now!
We have some history w/ these, mostly with poor results. It looks like Graco addressed many of our problems with this version. Better battery, better feed cup, standard tips (this is huge) and better pressure/rate control. Build quality looks (maybe?) better. We spray thick materials (firestop, intumescent paint) and use these handhelds for touch ups and tiny jobs. Makes a great mate to a bigger rig. Definitely going to purchase one.
Yes, I would recommend it!
Tiny jobs ? I sprayed 4x10 feet panels with this sprayer. Works like a charm.
Thanks for the videos. I had a graco x7 some years back. I loaned it out, and never got it back. I’m watching your painting videos because I have a lot of painting to do on my house, so I just bought a graco proX19. I was really thinking about getting one of the handhelds, but they have a some bad reviews, and it scared me off.
Thanks for your videos. I’ll try to be here Monday 👍🏼👍🏼
It's great for smaller projects!
Paint Life TV
It definitely looks awesome, and I like the fact that you don’t have to load the so much paint into it like the big sprayers, but I have a big deck that’s 8’ off the ground that’s enclosed, plus I want to spray my foundation. I probably would have blown the handheld up with that much paint and stain.
I also need to paint my kitchen cabinets according to my wife, that’s why I almost got the light guy. Who knows, maybe down the road. I’m just glad I came to my senses and got the proX19.
Phew, I probably would have wanted shoot my self with that little spray gun after trying to run 15 gallons through it in a day. It does look sexy though.
Thanks for the videos. I have a lot of catching up to do.
That is so awesome. If my job wasn't so big, I'd go for one of those. Plus, I noticed that it takes the same batteries as my DeWalt tools. That's awesome!
Great tool to have!
I bought one. I use it for doors and it works great!
Glad you like it to!
How many doors can it do before you need to refill it?
Can u please tell me where did you buy it?? And where??Im in Austin Texas...thank you
You you recommend it for small bedrooms?
Please am from Nigeria, Lagos state. Where can I get one
I use mine constantly. When I bought mine I bought the larger cups that come with the Max version...lessens the need for refilling.
Yes! Thanks for watching!
Always like these vids . Very good reviews and tips, triks of the trade etc. Very helpful shout out to the Idaho Painter.
great video Chris, you always do a great job on demo and explanation of products.
Thank you for watching Rick!
I need this in my life
Can you attach a graco extension to it?
Purchased the corded model. The pulsating from the pump left lines. That model looks much better than the one I’ve got
Man your awesome, i started painting 2 years back, i wish i could go work with you!! so i can learn faster
Works Great!!
Only clogs every 30 seconds!!!
I am no professional, but I would guess that's due to the paint itself having some clumps. I strain my older paint before putting it in and haven't had issues
Clogs happen if you don't filter your paint before putting it into the cup. Also, try to thin your paint a little.
It's a Graco, they are very high quality products and made for pro's. Did you expect anything less?
True
Great video! I just got the corded version and would really appreciate future video on tips for using the Graco handheld for small indoor room. I keep getting a little over spray on the ceiling and door trim. Thanks for the good work! God bless.
Good idea for a video, thanks for watching. Watch my videos on controlling overspray to help with that!
I want one of these for doing Cabinets and small touch ups! Thanks for the review. Ive been wondering how good it was. Seems like a small cup. Have to refill often. But, handy gadget for small things! Awesome.
Do you still have to work around spits with this unit?
No you do not
This guy is my hero
Thanks for watching!
I have been using their cordless for years. Love it.
Can we use this product for exterior emulsion paints
How much does it cost?
@@devarajanvenu1309 yes
I bought the the ultra max so I can spray oil based as well, however the ultra max has a different size thread so you can't use extension pole or the regular rac x tip guard , I did use it to spray water based enamel on trim , at a friends place it worked extremely well, I think it has a bit more overspray than the diaphragm airless, great videos mate!
Thank you!
Now that it’s been a couple years, would you still recommend? I’m mostly wanting it for trim work in my own home and various projects, including doors and maybe even some cabinets.
I was hoping he would respond to this question
Definately spend the money for a Graco Sprayer! I used the basic model years ago and was hooked! So I bought another one for my self. Especially after trying a Wagner sprayer first. That was utter garbage and returned it within 20 minutes for a full refund and complaint to the company.
Mine is stil going strong after a few years. I would purchase a graco gxff or i think its a gx19 outside of yhe uk. Its a fantastic machine great for woodwork
Graco makes commercial sprayers. They put their quality and knowledge into the small handheld sprayers. I would buysecond a third one and fourth. But I've never broken one either. So I recomend buying the cordless one that takes DeWalt 20VLiPo batteries. I have the corded one so eventually I'll want the upgrade too. Your best bet is to Shop it on Amazon and wait for a price drop or a sale usually in the Fall then install the Honey Browser adon to get the lowest price and any possible cupons.I've done all my doors, new trim, whole rooms and even my whole house. I swear I could paint an old beater car and it'd look brand new again. Just dont use old or cheap paint. The #1 thing is to follow the Mfg. Cleaning instructions to the letter and do not deviate from it.
Adam Rudd I would that’s exactly the work I do !! It’s easy tonuseb
I didn't know John Cena was a painter. 😁 Good vid
Well I'm convinced. Tip selection is critical. I only need to decide between corded and battery. I was going to buy the larger hosed unit but as a novice part time painter this will do the trick. My biggest concern is overspray.....proper selection of parts is the answer. Thanks for a fabulous video.
Look into pump life, they only have a limited life. They can be changed.
@@rossmcgowan4776 ya...for $400 or so......The larger unit was my first choice but it sucks up so much paint just to get it primed. I don;t see how you could use just a quart with that unit where you could with the hand held. well....confused again....Hey thanks for replying, your advice and videos are extremely helpful....kudos.
Using this to spray a staircase railing right now. Really love not having to worry about a cord that will hit my finish.
Yes, awesome way to use it! Glad you like it!
Who's the 1 douche rocket who disliked this awesome video? Chris is one of the best and most knowledgeable painter/ construction guys around. And he makes the best videos. For free! Thank you Chris you have helped me so much!!!
Lol, thank you for the support!
no man it was me.. i liked this video so much i came back turned my tablet upside down so i could like the video twice! haha....no but seriously this tool rocks!
kinda pricy
You get what you pay for
Haha it was me...
Just want to say that the particular model he’s working with is NOT the sprayer to use with flammable products. These handheld sprayers have open motors that spark, if you add that with flammable you go from sprayer to flamethrower very quickly. Graco does however have a handheld model that can be grounded to spray flammable products. Also, you can use either FFLP or LP tips on these sprayer as they are both the same thing. They are labeled differently because of the sizing but since they both use the same low pressure technology they will work the same way, so if you are looking for a FFLP tip and can’t find the size but it is available as a LP tip you can use that as well. Lastly, always strain your paint before loading into any sprayer to reduce tip clogging.
I got one of those but is the cord one not cordless, and I love it paint my condo with that but realize will work best for small project, I love it!!!
I'm about to buy one. Bought a Graco cordless sprayer back in 2013 and it worked great. But now having issues since it's been a couple years since I used it, and misplaced the center hanging tube and even if anyone sold the replacement tube online (they don't), I need to paint my cabinet doors outside TODAY before it rains on Sunday, and no other time the rest of the month to do it, SO, off to HomeDepot to pick up this later model.
Still recovering from sticker shock, several years later...
I have the ultra and the ultra max. Love them. amazing sprayer. Yes graco had problem with them on their first batch. They recalled a bunch. but what im commenting about is. The ultra can spray oil based products but you will get a shock. they dont recommend it. that is the difference between the ultra and ultra max. the ultra max can spray oil based products. just my 2 cents
Thanks for sharing!
CHRONIC MARYJANE I just received the UtraMax. Going just by the manual the use of the tips included are very limited. The chart says 014 should be used for interior paint and 016 is needed for exterior. Most my paint is interior or exterior paint. The paint cans recommend 015, 016, and 017 on the ones I have. The largest tip included with the gun is 014. Has the small tip worked well for you? Have you purchased larger tips or thinned the paint?
I am new at this so I wonder what problems using a smaller than recommended tip could cause. I would guess clogs and maybe tips needing replaced more often. Hopefully it will not wear other gun parts out faster than normal.
Thanks for any information you can provide.
I was told the same thing by a rep, but I looked at replacement pumps and it seems the parts and pumps are the same, only in the ultra and ultra max that's why I went with the ultra and saved some money, I'd like to research this a little more but it seams to be the case
The UltraMax has a ground cord to use when spraying oil based paint. Not sure, but you might catch on fire 🔥 using the Ultra instead of the UltraMax when using flammable paint.
Also because the ultramax is a brushless motor.
Always wondered about these things passing em by a million times at HomeDepot -hope i get an excuse to play with one some time -nice video
Awesome video. Currently shoping for a graco sprayer for small projects
Would this be good to spray iron handrails?
Kenny Tobin sontoibheyban answer?
You need to strain the paint before loading the sprayer it helps from clogging.
Steve Pfister true...
If you are using fresh un-opened paint that is not the case. If you're cheap and reuse old paint then it would be recomended. But if you're that cheap, you deserve clogs.
Unreliable trash...repairs arent worth it.
I agree with you 100%... been painting all my life...
100% true.
Thanks I always wondered if it was good I trust you definitely buying one
Great video dude! I’ve watched this several times. You’re the man. Looking to purchase this and something equivalent for nice hvlp finish. Hope this is good enough.

Great review. I just bought one, can't wait to try it out!
Hope it works well for you, thanks for watching!
How much it's prise ..?
I agree it's a great sprayer, had mine a few months now. It takes a little bit to clean Im gonna try the upside down shake it way next. I've tried the normal racX tips they work but I believe the point of this sprayer is Fine finish low pressure so it's best to use the FFLP. I shot some aluminum frames used a FFLP 210, Thumbed
motor speed down to 1 and shot Pro Industrial urethane enamel like I knew what I was doing, No spitting No orange peel No hose and smooth as glass.also like the fact I don't have to buy entire gal. just to shoot 1 door that cuts back cost and storage. I've been spraying many years and I'm thoroughly impressed with the ultra hand held Graco is the only pump I'll ever buy my 23 yo gas 3500 still sprays and tested @ 3000psi last re-pack. Great video thanks for taking your time to show us something new.
Thanks for sharing Jason!
Imagine when they make a backpack with hose attachment.
Yeah
For the price of some Graco sprayers I could pay someone to paint what I needed painting. 🤣
yeah it's probably more useful for a painter than joe blogs painting his house
But you would pay me less to come paint it as it takes me less time , doing trim takes hours by hand with this i have a whole room done in mins
thanks for the tips I get to play with one tomorrow
Been using mine at least 4x a month for about a year for Cabinets, Doors, and Trim I run the 42oz Cups and 6ah Battery so everything sits flat and I can get about 3 gallons of product sprayed before changing batteries (Most times I only use it for a gallon or so per use) I also keep an extra cup full of PumpArmor for After Cleaning and before I put it away I'll Prime it for about 5 seconds with the cup upside down then also spray it for a second or two. Super Easy!
Glad to hear
its not the lightest thing but chris have muskles like terminator. all easy :))))))
Lol
Com4nd3r666 lol...
For him is like holding a brush!
can you put gun extenions on this? Or would you even try to haha?
Yes, you can. I have not yet though
Thanks for the detailed review. Will try it out for lattice.
Thanks for watching!
Update. Got the graco vsp wired. Omg its the besssst!! There are a few kinks in the learning curve (clogs easily, pressure gets reduced, pain to clean). But once I got the hang of it. Mann I was hitting the lattice with the sprayer in minutes. Before it took 2-3 hours to do ONE side of lattice by hand. Thanks again!! Ps: Amazon has the plastic cups for 4 bucks cheaper than home depot.
wait $570 for that wow. yeah i'll pass.
I agree!!!his the BEST!!!! Thank you Chris for all all your videos!!
You are welcome!
This is on my short list. Looks awesome.
2nd video I've watched and I'm hooked. Subscribed!
Getting one!!! Thanks for your professional advice.💪🏿💪🏿
Right on!
Keep some water in a 5 gal bucket for spray tip clogs, I use a one gal can for reloading the cup, I purchased 2-42oz paint cups and bags, tighten the cup to lid well. When I refill the cups I clean out the pickup screen to remove paint impurities, I use a 5ah battery it brings a balance between the paint cup and back of the gun, this helps when up on a ladder and using both hands...
Thanks soo much for the educational vids great tips and tricks in each video I plan to do my garage door and the kitchen cabinets do you think this unit would be a good choice for that size job, we dont much planed to paint after that thanks again

Great video! I got one of these a while ago and have been dying to play with it. I saw some plastic bag liners you can drop into those liners even... I'm half wondering if I can find plastic bags somewhere and use them for this. Heck even big ziploc bags could work possibly.... Just thinking for the long term, i'm paranoid one day you might not be able to find the liners that come with it so I stocked up on them. Lol
I do construction work and we do a lot of painting and I got one of these and I use it on every job cause it's a lot faster than rolling it
And they burn out in about 20 gallons
