Column of Russian tanks destroyed by Ukrainian missile squad

  • This is the moment Ukrainian soldiers destroy a column of Russian tanks and armoured vehicles on a rural road.
    The battle group K2 of the 54th Mechanized Brigade, part of the Ukrainian Ground Forces and Operational Command East, joked that the “tourists” came to the country in “heavy equipment” instead of visiting “to relax”.
    The K2 Battle Group said on 10th May: “We want to tell and show you a story, dear Ukrainians. It was one spring morning in the territory of our native Ukraine. ‘Tourists’ came to our country, but not to relax, instead to trample on our roads with heavy equipment.
    “However, the ‘tourists’ did not know that the road was made by members of the K2 group with the help of other highly skilled workers.
    "The road was not good quality and the equipment broke down, and in our state there are no service stations for such vehicles.
    “This happens when you visit us without an invitation. Glory to Ukraine!”
    Local reports said the attack took place in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk Oblast, adding that K2 soldiers “punished the occupiers for their impudence”
    During the attack, Ukrainian anti-tank sharpshooters seem to be able to pick off the tanks and armoured cars at will.
    At one point, one tank can be seen in flames as it tried to get off the road.

      Its not the terrain that is the problem. It’s not securing the area with infantry first and having the tanks supported by artillery and aircraft.
      Weird thing is that the Russians know this and still they don’t seem to learn. I think they simply don’t have the people and the equipment.

      They probably don't know the real situation in the field, the official statement in Russia is that the operation is going well according to plan, it's very likely they are keeping the real number of deaths and vehicles destroyed from one unit to another, so they can go to the field with a little bit more confidence, even if that costs their lives, propaganda always comes first.

      Not only that, Ukrainians knows the terrain. They could be up the hill, mines everywhere especially those narrow roads to cause the tanks to get stuck. The Russian invaders can't spot where the attack is coming from. @frankkolton1780 Před 2 lety +26

      The average soldier in the green Russian units (new forces coming over the border) don't realize they're outgunned on a tech basis until they start taking fire. Unfortunately, Russia has vast numbers of outdated armor and reserve troops and conscripts that they can just keep pushing in, as the old military adage goes, quantity is it's own quality. Putain doesn't care about how many of his own troops die, as long as the goals are eventually reached.
      The Russians have been slowly but steadily gaining ground, there is a chance that they can completely close off what is now the Donbass pocket, cutting off Ukraine forces. Hopefully Ukraine forces can hold. Slava Ukraini.

      @luchacefox259 Před 2 lety +27

      Pretty sure that was a mine. You put them in the road ahead of an ambush to trap enemy armor and force them into a one way in one way out situation. • @paoloadam
      @paoloadam Před 2 lety +17

      @@luchacefox259 Those were missiles. Mines don't take out stationary targets in the rear end of a column, and a mine explosion is very different, lifting a tank upwards as they detonate underneath it. Javelins on the other hand always hit on top unless the secondary fire mode is activated which makes only sense when there's overhead cover.

      With modern anti-tank weapons if you can see it, you can destroy it. War has always been brutal, but with the technology available now killing people has become almost like playing a video game. Thermal imaging also makes it easy to see which tanks have been hit and which ones are just playing dead, so whether you stop or run you will be the next target. Any tank leaving the column would immediately draw attention to itself. The tank crews have probably been brainwashed into believing that they are invincible and are fighting for the glory of Russia.
