- A Russian soldier who was fighting in the trenches outside Bakhmut surrendered to Ukrainian forces and was led to safety by a drone piloted by the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Yurii Fedorenko, who commands the 92nd’s Achilles drone company, wrote on his Telegram channel that one Russian soldier signalled to a hovering surveillance drone that he wanted to surrender but that his comrades would kill him.

That's incredible. Obviously I know I have no understanding of what it would be like to be fighting enemy soldiers on the ground like they did in WW1 & WW2, but whenever I see anything war-related it makes me sad that regardless of what's going on, the soldiers on the front line are just brave men (and women in modern war) who are fighting for their country. They're doing what they believe is right, or just doing what they're told by their leaders. I was so glad when the recent 'All Quiet on the Western Front' was released, because the world needs to understand this idea more. War is a shocking waste of human life.
I bet your grandfather was faced with some people who were very angry that he showed mercy to the Japanese soldiers, but it makes my heart happy to know that he just saw fellow humans in an incredibly horrific situation. Exactly, just look at the Christmas Truce of World War 1 for a perfect exampleon Christmas Eve Allies could hear Carols being sung from the German side, slowly people start poking their heads up from trenches, and soon, hundreds of troops from both sides were in No Man's Land sharing cigarettes, food, and laughs even though they didn't know each other's language. But this made the higher ups furious, and they put laws up to prevent another incident happening the next Christmas
I firmly disagree, not with what i think you meant by this comment but the comment itself. without the men on the ground the ones giving the orders are useless right or wrong? I understand what you mean tho it is crazy to think how people can sit in a nice protected room while sending their fellow countrymen to die. But this video and all others like it should show that these men truly have hearts even in the heart of war. And that at war the more you have to fight for the harder you will fight.
