Such a shame she's so overshadowed by Phelps. They're both phenomenal but she deserves every bit of media coverage that he gets for the records she's broken and the lengths at which she's broken them at.
Phelps is an all around swimmer and Ledecky is only doing freestyle....big difference
@@belleepants4904 Phelps in short distance swimmer while Ledecky is only doing freestyle but in several type of distance
It's much easier to break a world record in 400m or 800m than in 100 and 200. So I think phelps deserves a bit better than her.
Also, she only swims freestyle while phelps was swimming butterfly, freestyle and medlay. So, yeah, that's a big difference

to Swimming all the middle distance 200m 400m and Long 800m at the Olympic Games itself is an amazing feat. One of the great swimmer of all times

I agree, and it may happen because Michael Phelps isn't in the mix anymore, and Ryan Lochte will win in anything BUT the Olympics. So I agree with you 100%.

Katie certainly deserves it but It probably won't happen because of the schedule. Katie had to skip Rio's opening ceremonies because she had competition the next day. The same issue will probably come up in Tokyo.

this is making me even more excited to see what she has in store for 2020 , i swim for my high school and her capabilities are insane and i am sure she is the greatest female freestyle swimmer on the planet .... i would die to have skills like her in the free

She did 400 in 800m freestyle at 4:01.98! That will be an amazing time in itself for 400m freestyle.
In 2020 her best event will be in, when she swims the 1500 the 2nd place person isn’t even swimming the same direction as Katie, and she laps the back end of the field

I dont think people understand how difficult swimming is. I ran track, played basketball, volleyball, and flag football. I thought I was in top shape. One day I jumped in a pool and swam 10 meters, and I was exhausted.
I run track , swim and play football and I get exhausted

I remember Katie & Missy came in 1st & 2nd in the 200M race at the trials. How is it that Missy didn't get to swim in the finals of 4 X 200?
she missed the 200 free final in rio, and coupled with the fact that she had been on the decline for the 2 years prior, they decided to pick based on form, giving maya dirado a berth by virtue of her IM performances
