    Here in Milan where I live, many bars offer something called "Happy-hour" aperitives. They charge you more for the drinks, but either they bring you loads of things to "nibble", or, in some bars, you can help yourself into a kind of "buffet" where you can help yourself with loads of little appetizers on an "all-you-can-eat" basis.
    It really depends on the place you pick for your drinks.

  • @fabiofabi4637
    @fabiofabi4637 Před 3 měsíci +12

    In Italy the aperitif changes depending on the place. There are bars where they only give you chips and olive and others where they are much more generous and bring you many more things such as salame and cheeses. You have to look inside a little first to see if there are trays or ask the waiter 😊

    • @waysoftheworld_
      @waysoftheworld_  Před 3 měsíci +1

      thanks for the tips! I guess it could have been easy to ask to waiters 🙃 we always just hoped for the best and assumed if the bar had meats and cheeses that the would give them to us 😂

    Aperitivo: you basically drink and eat some salty snacks and then you have your meal at home or in a restaurant
    Apericena: drinks + all you can eat buffet
    You went to Fabrik bar for aperitivo and just missed Naera lounge bar above the street that offers apericena .
    Many bars just offer aperitivo and then you can ordered "un tagliere" to eat salame, mortadella, cheese etc
    I prefer going to prosciutteria in via Oberdan or tamburini and have whine+ tagliere

    16:50 - Ciao, a first difference is between "aperitivo" and "apericena", the second is generally done from 6.30 pm onwards and you can have more things to eat even small samples of pizza. Then it depends a lot on the bar and the price.

    Yeah the quantity and quality of the free food during an "aperitivo" depends a lot on which bar do you choose, in some places if you want something more special or tastier it's not for free; it's just about discovering which bar has the best offer 🙌 (however just subscribed 😊)

      Thanks for the comment! 48 hours is probably enough if you just want to focus on the city itself and eat lots of yummy food. But there's a lot of cool stuff in the area like Prosciutto/Parmigiano/Balsamico factory tours in nearby Parma & Modena. There are the Ferrari/Lamborghini museums (if you're interested. We were not 😉). So you can also use it as a base to explore some cool stuff. Long story short, it depends 🙃 You will love Bologna!

I suggest for the first day to go around the city and give a piece of papaer to some old people i there, they will write down all the nicest things u can sample and try. I really like these "reports" of yours on the various Italian cities. I think you have realized that the prices of bars and restaurants can vary a lot from the South, to the Center, to the North. Generally the South is cheaper, but prices can vary even in the same city: an "apericena" (i.e. an aperitif with various plates of delicacies) in Milan (where I live) can cost up to 20/30 euros, while a "Negroni" (for me the TOP, try it!) with some olives and various pretzels costs between 7 and 10 euros. Ciao!

  • @marcomanto1350
    @marcomanto1350 Před 3 měsíci +3

    The kibnd of aperitivo changes from city to city...in some place (likely the price is big higher) you get quite lot of food. In the South they tend to be more generous with food.

    Depends on the time, and the kind of place. If you read "Happy Hour" or "Apericena" (it means aperitivo + cena, cena means dinner) with just one drink you can eat a lot of food, probably from a buffet, better probably after 7,30pm. In Milan you can do it at Navigli and Arco della Pace for sure and probably everywhere in the center of the city. But the traditional aperitivo at the bar, at 6:00-6:30pm is just with olives, chips, little pizzas, focaccia.

    Hi, speaking of aperitif there is only one place where you can find many snacks with an aperitif, in Milan! In fact it is called 'Apericena' which means aperitif and dinner precisely because of the quantity of food they bring you with the aperitif and the prices range from 7 to 15 euros maximum! There are many places that serve it! Check it out 😜😜

    You had the typical Italian "aperitivo". Once a time most bars offered you that, because an aperitif is an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink that is drunk before meals only for stimulate the appetite.
    When it became a "fad", that is..., it was already a fad but not a full-blown trend, some bars started to offer a lot of food to attract customers.

    La Rossa is not only called that because of the red houses, but also because of its political orientation. Bologna is the most liberal city next to Florence, i.e. left-wing

    Translate this: " sanno un cazzo a Bologna di cucinare".
    Il piatto più conosciuto è "la bolognese" che è il PEGGIOR ragù che ti possa trovare in Italia, è la versione STRONZA e senza senso al pari delle fettuccine Alfredo e spaghetti and meatballs.
    Hanno Millemila cose buone? Si, come in tutta.italia, ma come in tutti i luoghi ormai turistici, cucinano solo cose che piacciono a voi turisti, di vero non c'è niente.
    Vai in Toscana e riprova.
    Saluti.

    if you want to eat with an aperitif, you have to ask for an "apericena". A phrase composed of aperitif+dinner. Then they will bring you platters of various cured meats, together with the aperitif.of course the price will be a little highert.the "aperice dinner" is usually consumed at seven in the evening.

      Thank you so much for sharing! We never tried apericena and it sounds amazing. I guess that's one more reason to go back to Italy and experience it. Thanks again for taking the time to share this ❤️

      @@waysoftheworld_ and when you return to America, tell your friends, that those rubbish with Italian names that pass off as Italian foods, are actually industrially produced in America with components such as thickeners, unsaturated fats, which in addition to having no taste, are also bad for your health. health. let's take parmesan, it is colorless, tasteless, filled with thickeners. parmigiano reggiano is a patented brand, and can only be produced in the territories of Emilia, with local cattle. aged 12-24-36 months. unfortunately the Quality costs money, and when you compare the price of Parmesan and Parmigiano-Reggiano DOP (Protected Origin), we have a difference of at least double. And this price difference should immediately raise suspicions. Many American brands use misleading Utalian names. , and many Americans think they are eating foods produced in Italy, when in fact they are produced in America. Every year Italian companies sue companies all over the world because they advertise cured meats, cheeses, wines, etc. for Italian products, but instead they are fakes. and the cases almost always win. upon your return to Italy. I live in Pistoia, a medieval city 30km from Florence. bye bye

    Conflict of Generations + Inflation = Recession on Manners and its originally afferent generosity. The least we forget--and this is a commentary that should include for me to underline that I will turn 70 toward the end of this very year- when I was a kid, Italy practiced its own 'Tapas' culture, where, if you were a regular in 'starred' establishments, your habits being known, during aperitivo time the cart of 'antipasti' was rolled to your table-side, and service would ensue accordingly... When I was an adolescent young man, and you were invited for dinner by family, which included local aristocracy, which today has been replaced with what is called A-listers, several dishes would also appear, yet --depending of spending patterns, the 'host' in your party would have to 'awaken' this generosity pattern by ordering not so much the 'antipasti', but the hors d'oeuvres' dishes--most often a series of pasta samplers, which would have the effect to see a restaurant owner offer the antipasti, making the 'aperitivo' time way more exciting. P.S.: also the presence of very well dressed [or extremely elegant ladies in your party, would further dynamize the enthusiasm of a restaurant management to reach an almost celebratory mood around your party, which in turn would create a sort of 'advertising' force influencing tables around to spend more and --often- gain the same attention you benefitted from... But, remember' times have changed, and ... OK... I leave to your imagination to fill the blanks... Enjoy... Italy, no matter what, remains an idyllic place were surprises can still be very elegant!

    Its not that difficult, the guy working at that bar has told you already actually... There isn't a "fixed" way about the Aperitivo and foods which comes with it, it just depends from bar to bar...
    and for the love of god, its not SALAMI, ITS SALAME! salami is when you got many of them, more than one "salami", only one "salamE" (porcodeddio)
