Dollar or pesos mexicanos?🤔
random comment, here in CDMX i sometimes see the water guy come up with FOUR garrafones in his hands, yes holding them at the same time, no cart involved...he schleps them 2 flights of stairs...really inspires me to ramp up my Manly Man game lol
haha that's crazy! I can't wrap my head around carrying two in each hand. We were in CDMX a month ago and the elevator to our apt was broken - I thought I was tough lugging 1 garrafon up 6 flights 😂
MDMX?
What is this?
hello you two!! You do this so naturally and not fake like a lot of the folks doing videos in Mexico. I am in Canada, retired and moving south!!Soon. found you on Instagram and subscibed on here... Making a choice on a place to set up a base and then find where I want to be is tough and so much information. You have a new follower...keep the information coming !!!!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Good luck with the big move 🙏🏼 And yes, there are so many beautiful places to choose from in Mexico!
We live four hours south of the southern Mexican border, in a beautiful city called Xela, Guatemala. We have walmart, 3 modern malls, all the conveniences. Monthly we spend about $1100 with no budgeting. We are at almost 8000 square feet so temps are 70s for the highs and usually high 40s at night...never hot, which we love.
I know Xela - heard a lot of good things about it 🙂 I (Gordon) actually lived in Antigua & Guatemala City an separate occasions. I love Guatemala! Enjoy 🇬🇹
Wow! Where do you get information about Guatemala?
@@sarahs.6457
CZcams and Google.
Most info is on Antigua and Lake Atitlan, but we LOVE mountains and cool weather and that is Xela.
Great video guys! Thank you for sharing your experience in Guanajuato and thank you very much for all the detailed information in this video. Good luck and keep having fun while work!
The cost of living in Mexico all depends on where you live and your life style .The cost can be high low or in the middle somewhere.
Exactly. That's why we just shared our experience in Guanajuato ;)

Beautiful Guanajuato 😎
2:00 the way they have the hot sauce attached to the chips crack me up. I love it.
Great info! I was shocked to see the grocery prices were similar to California! 😢
Thanks! Are they really that similar? We are rarely in the US anymore so I lack perspective, but I still felt like our total spend was significantly less than when we shop back 'home' in Florida.
Guanajuato City is such a a unique city! May I ask, what do you guys do for work and what countries are you guys from? You guys have excellent camera and video editing skills!
Yea GTO is awesome! We do CZcams for work 🙃 along with having a couple of blogs. I (Gordon) and from the US, Aimara from Venezuela... thanks for the comment!
@@waysoftheworld_ Oh wow! Cool! I saw in your Netherlands video, you speak Dutch! That’s great!
Have been living in Mexico for 4 years now close to Puerto Vallarta in a small village. The few factors that contributed to the undeniable cost of living increase: 1) exchange rate went from 1US$ = MN$25 in 2021 to MN$17 in 2024. So if you are spending dollars off the bat this is a 47% cost increase. 2) USA and Canadian tourism and migrants (my wife and I are two of them... lol) who now live in Mexico can afford the prices, so the prices settle at what the demand can afford. 3) and of course COVID hurt businesses, so now they are trying to recover from suffering of 2021-2022. 4) actual inflationary forces in the economy. Where we do our groceries, the prices are higher for the same product after converting to US$ compared to the prices at Fry's in Phoenix. But guess what: we cough it up for the convenience and quality. 😊
Great video B. T. W. - thank you and please keep them coming!
thanks so much for the detailed comment! yea - just the change in the exchange rate is enough to notice how things have changed since we visited in 2022. We'll have some more cost of living videos coming later in the summer :)
Great video! Any chance you can share a link for the airbnb?

Gracias from Texas 👍
De nada from Florida 😎
It's so interesting watching these videos. We live in the small village of Bahia Asuncion, BCS. Because we don't have many options with big stores, we don't spend a lot of money on groceries. Instead, we have to get creative with our meals. We learned how to make great beer and wood fired pizzas along with granola, bread, and sourdough tortillas. As a result, our food budget is really inexensive. Our biggest expense is our CFE bill which runs about $2000 pesos for two months. Between Starlink and four people streaming videos and working online, our electricity use is a lot. Fortunately we don't need or have airconditioning where we live. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Thanks so much for watching! How cool that you guys have learned how to make all that stuff. One day I hope to have the time to do that, I love cooking!!
Miss this place every day ❤🩹
Thank you for another awesome video.
You're very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it 😎
Wow! So much more expensive than the last time I was in Mexico in 2017. We live in Oregon and almost all the items you priced we pay less for here...I'd say 75-80% of the prices you quoted.
It is all about the same pricing for food as here in Asheville, NC (a tourist city) . However, during leaf changing season, the AirBnB costs would be about four times as expensive.YMCA is about $79 / month. Hot yoga is $149 / month.
When I link to the Airbnb, and choose a one month stay, it comes out to a lot more than what you paid ($2139 CDN or approx. $1600 USD). Did you negotiate the rate down from what was posted? Thanks.
Hello - yea it seems like they did raise the prices. But it also seems that the host uses seasonal rates. So when I look at next year January it's quite similar to what we paid. Any chance you are looking at October? They have several huge festivals during that period and I'm sure they raise the prices for that month (and maybe November, too).
Try Louisiana hotsauce from La Comer. It tastes likes the USA hotsauce. I order groceries online for home delivery. My apartment includes everything. My apartment has a YORK AC and heat combo.
Im currently living in Brazil a small city called Alto Paraiso beautiful nature but the city’s infrastructure leaves plenty to desire. The cost of living here is high compared to most Mexico videos I’ve seen. A place to live like yours furnished and with cleaning and good Wi-Fi is around 850-900 usd per month.
Supermarket prices are extremely high in Mexico considering local average wages. I found that most things cost around the same as they do in the UK (where the minimum wage is 7-8 times higher than it is in Mexico), and that some things cost more, e.g. yoghurt, wine, non-Mexican cheese and non-Mexican ham. I doubt that the Mexican working class can afford to shop in these places, and TBF I'm not sure how they manage to survive at all.
I think the same thing! The prices are like the same as in the U.S and cost more if imported but their wages are much less than in the U.S. You can’t go to the little stores because they don’t have everything 😳
Not everyone go to the supermarket for groceries, mercados and tianguis are very common as well as little convenience stores
Yea - what Luis said ^ also, street food is very common and affordable. the 'working class' often eat at the little food carts found all around the cities.
I give you a great recommendation so that no one abuses you and you spend your money better. If you came to Mexico, investigate how much it costs to rent a home in the area that you like, ask the people of that area, remember each area and each city and town changes the price, do not pay more because over time you will only harm yourself and others and that in Mexico is frowned upon if people are friendly and do not act like a local you will be rejected from that community.
Not exactly related but do you know anyone who could help us find a small farm maybe 30 to 50 hectares with or without a house.
No, I'm sorry 🤷🏻♂️
Where do you want it, in wich state, I do that for a living.
😊Brand new studio apt. Including utilities, cable, internet close to downtown.
$200.00 monthly!
Nice!

How do you prevent getting diarrhea which I get every time I go to Mexico no matter the precaution I take.
haha I don't know how to help you there. we always eat in the streets/markets and never get sick. just look for places that are busy so you know the food is fresh, and if you're sensitive then maybe avoid things with fresh greens 🤷🏻♂️
Take probiotics, yogourt 1 week before and continuing there(probio capsules).
keep eating the food, eventually your body will adapt.
Cuánto cuesta la renta de un departamento de dos recámaras?
Fantastic video.
Thanks so much!! Happy to hear you enjoyed it :)
Bohemia is easily the best beer brand in Mexico. If I’m on the beach, Bohemia Clara, if not, Bohemia oscura.
Bohemia Clara 🙌 an ice cold XX in a random little cantina also hits the spot 😎
🙏🙏❤️
🤗❤️
What is the temperature?
High around 80 F and low around 45 F - when we were there in January (average). And dry...
Awebo Bohemia is the best beer
That's pretty inexpensive living. Thanks for the information.
You're welcome ☺️
Are the locals able to drink the water?
I guess some do, but big bottles of drinking water are sold in every mini market and they have regular delivery service through the neighborhoods selling the same giant bottles (garrafones). So I think they try not to if they can...
haahaa!...my spanish Lesson for today Is: Lavanderia/Laudry you need to remember Lavanda hhhm smell good, is Laudry.... Hahaa!🙃🙃😜
hahaha love this! This is a GREAT way to remember!! 👏
Mexico's getting pricier, huh? Compared to the US, you'd think everywhere else is a bargain, but the prices in your video didn't seem all that low. Back in Brazil, my wife and I are spending just about half of what you guys are. Still, cool video!
Hi :) It's been kind of shocking to hear from so many people that these prices are so similar than the US. Crazy! This tells us 2 things: 1. We eat WAY TOO MUCH! 2. Publix in Boca Raton, FL is so freaking expensive! 🙈 PS: I want to go to where you are in Brazil hahaha after Guanajuato we went to Queretaro, which was even more expensive and I think you will be shocked with the prices in Mexico City which is where we are right now 💸 Anyways... maybe Brazil is next for us? 😂
I know that Airbnb!
haha did you recognize the forks that fall apart while eating?
You were living it up!that’s a rich budget
So the prices sound about the same as in the United States.
A lot of people said that. But in our experience with the US lately, we thought Mexico was a lot cheaper. We cannot afford to live in a US city right now. South Florida is certainly more expensive than this. But I guess it really all depends on where you live :)
Supermarket prices are not that cheap
Can u help me fi d a place for an month
Hello - we always look for apartments on Airbnb. There should be plenty of options there 👍
The prices listed are very similar to the US. Problem is you were shopping in a gringo oriented supermarket due to all the expats in the area.
hmmm, we shopped at the only major super market in the historic center and rarely saw any gringos inside. it was 99% local. i don't think the expat population in Guanajuato is big enough to have an enormous 'gringo' supermarket.
@@waysoftheworld_ Hmm, you need to shop where the locals shop. Those prices aren’t sustainable for folks that actually live and work there. BTW, surprised you haven’t seen them but Guanajuato is full of tourists and expats with more buying power.
Yeah I too was thinking that these are the same prices I’m paying in the US. Some things even seemed more expensive.
There are very few expats in all of Guanajuato City. All over Mexico when I go to a supermarket the majority of shoppers are still locals, even in areas that do have a substantial expat community.
Indid not find Mexico cheap you got whst you pay for. Hostels ok but roasting hot no air or aircon.. There s no wsy could cook in that heat... I was amazed most at how costly buses were...
If you get tired of Mexican food? WHAT?
Imposible Bro!
Get your self a telcel card amigo plan 200 peso per month
I wish they wouldn't say support the local business. Like people from other countries support our local businesses. So don't feel obligated.
That's what you got from the video? Cool ✌🏼
Where are you on the map
Central Mexico, a few hours north of Mexico City. Or an hour west of San Miguel de Allende.
$540 for groceries thats high...js
We learned thanks to other people's comments that we eat a lot LOL (and we really do!). So for sure it can be less than this!
Buy local. Much healthier the $5.50US peanut butter. Js
I am single, eat a lot of the best foods and I spend about $250us per month on groceries. I'm a great cook so I make and eat dinners mostly at home. I also rarely shop at Soriano and shop where the locals shop. Buena suerte!
Yes the food in this video was expensive.
Why is your hat on Backwards? Is that a Requirement?
Why are you concerned with how people dress? Is that worth your energy?
El problema es que los gringos van subir mas esos precios, gente que sufrio la gentrificacion gentrificando, y una cosa mas por favor respeten y aprendan de la cultura y el idioma si van ir a vivir aqui en mexico no por tener dolares se crean la gran cosa.
Please gringo Vlogs crack me up. Decades of videos about how much it cost to live in Mexico as if somebody could tell someone else that..
at least you know how to amuse yourself :) good job!
Y qué hay con la seguridad?
Tengo entendido que el estado de Guanajuato está muy mal administrado y hay mucho crímen e inseguridad.
What about security? I was told that Guanajuato state is very dangerous because of the bad governor and lots of crime and cartels 😢
We felt perfectly safe the entire time. We can only vouch about Guanajuato City, not the state. But it was extremely safe!
cartel is pretty dangerous now in MEXICO
Pork is deadly.
Ignorance more so...
LOL 👏
That kitchen is so not good!
it worked great for us 🤷🏻♂️
Not really cheaper then USA I would say the exactly the same
Don't think you can compare broadly with the US. Also, I don't know many places in the US where you can get a furnished 2 bedroom apt with utilities and internet included for $800.
Those poor donkeys. Don't post animal abuse unless you are going to call it out
Who are we to judge someone who clearly is using the donkey for work? He has no other choice. We try not to look at what other people do through our privileged eyes. Maybe next time you see something like this instead of judging, go buy them a truck 🤪
The donkeys looked fine to me! Just doing a normal day's work.
The entire country is an animal abuse machine, nothing you can do about it. Either accept it or stay out of the country. Mexicans sure as shit don't care, with very few exceptions...very few.
They like going out and spending time with their humans. They would be grumpy if you tried to ignore them. I love my neighbors donkeys and they love it when I visit them. Just saying.....
Did you actually purchase all the items you priced in your video? The Cheetos, the donuts etc.? You guys need to see a nutritionist … you diet is awful 🤣
We were just showing the prices for certain items...
@@waysoftheworld_ thank goodness! It pains me to see people eat this kind of garbage. Glad you’re not. You will undoubtedly have long healthy lives. ☺️
