BAY AREA!!! I love this content! It's nice to hear from people who have settled in neighborhoods that AREN'T the typical "expat destinations". I don't need to see any more videos about people living in Roma Norte or La Condesa in Mexico City, lol.
I lived in the town of Sonoma for about 6 years before relocating to Berkeley about 15years ago, so it's nice to see a fellow Bay area person living in Mexico. My wife and I are thinking about how we can make early retirement financially viable and relocation to Mexico is one of the ways we are considering that would make that possible. We are city people (and expect to be for the foreseeable future), so Guadalajara and Mexico City are at the top of our list of possible landing spots.
Don't forgett Monterrey, Querétaro, Puebla or Tijuana but specially Monterrey.

I should check your area out, next time I’m in Guadalajara. I’ve been there twice, and haven’t yet fallen in love with it. I love all the trees, like you mentioned. I think that’s one of my favorite things about CDMX.
Guadalajara Is not Cancún, puerto Vallarta, los Cabos or San Miguel Allende, darling.

This is - in my opinion - the BEST YT Travel video I have ever seen. The fact that its about Guadalajara is irrelevant (although Im planning to go very soon). This guy really knows his stuff. He's honest, calm, balanced, and knows what he is talking about (both the good and bad stuff). He should get a job as a tour guide or planner.

I have wanted to immigrant to Mexico (Guadalajara) for about a year now. I am getting a ticket next month and stay there for a week to see how it is and then I plan to find me a small apartment and start living. Soooooo tired of the states. I will be living on social security disability of $1500 a month. I think about it every day and watching CZcams videos all day. Yours was great as well.
Hola Lucian! Just a heads up. A lot of people get SSDI and SSI confused. With SSDI you can live overseas full time whereas with SSI you can only leave the US for up to six months before they stop your benefits. If you don't already have a resident visa be prepared to do border runs every 180 days to get a new tourist permit. I have friends who have been here for a couple years that couldn't qualify financially for a Resident Visa and stay here legally by doing six month border runs. I think after a few years of doing that you could probably qualify through the regularization program without having to prove economic solvency. I live like a Rey (King) in Ensenada on less than $1200us per month. Buena suerte!

My family is from Jamay and I’ve been thinking of moving back. My mom came up here in the 80s and we’d go through Guadalajara to get to Jamay. I miss the beauty and hope I can be back soon

Just to clarify, there are not less trees in Providencia than in Ladrón de Guevara. It's actually the opposite. Providencia has 8 important parks and two linear parks in Pablo Neruda and Montevideo, and it's next to the biggest urban forrest, Los Colomos. Ladrón de Guevara has none. And both have tall trees in the sidewalks. If he was hotter in his Providencia apartment it's not Providencia's fault. It's the apartment situation in relation to the sun.
is it a good city for someone 65 ...single but active and some Spanish....daughter will be near PV...could take the toll road easily to see her is the advantage...

@@MexicoRelocationGuide Some reason my Bluetooth speaker would not play forests voice when he spoke. My BT speaker is a JBL Pulse 5 and my laptop is a windows 11. I was able to hear him just fine through my laptop speakers.

@@MexicoRelocationGuide thanks for all your efforts, I really don’t understand why but even with the reloaded video I hear everything except when he speaks. If I am the only one who has this issue then don’t worry about it, I’ll watch the next one.
@@MexicoRelocationGuide my dear I found out why I wasn’t hearing him talk. I usually use one earpiece, the left one to watch a CZcams video on my phone. For some reason, when he speaks the sound only comes on the right earphone, not the left. I couldn’t hear it because of that.
Turns out it’s just because of how the sound was recorded and me not using both earphones.

I thought Guadalajara was the State dept. Do not travel list.
Did the State department become a credible, trustworthy source of info?
The state department also lists about 70% of the world as do not travel or extreme caution. They like to fear monger
It seems like he's fooling himself when he's saying that Guadalajara is not more dangerous than big American cities. He also mentioned that he had a "run in" with crooked cops at night and his bike was stolen twice. Someone I know had a gun pulled at him in Guadalajara while walking back to his place from a restaurant.
