I am back in Texas and don’t even want to go outside 90 some percent of the time! I am tossed in going to keep some appointments for doctors and dentist here or just packing up and going back South of the border in Mexico ❤ Money is not my strong suit but in the USA I feel naked! I would go to Lagos De Moreno, Jalisco, Nice weather in the middle of everything.....or if You like the beach, there Xalapa, Veracruz or ciudad Guzmán, both are Nice weather...not too expensive compare with Guadalajara .... Los Mochis, Sinaloa is not Bad....
Just watching Wendy’s interview. Instant connection: #1 when she mentioned the “cloud” covering the U.S. and #2 that when she arrived in GDL she could BREATHE! Oh my goodness. I feel and felt the same way when I first went to Merida. Being able to just breathe was an awakening for me too!

Loved this, Jose! I’m following in this lovely woman’s footsteps for most of the same reasons. I’ll be doing a “recon” visit to Guadalajara in August to explore neighborhoods. Thank you for sharing your story. I am a teaching in the Chicagoland area and have decided to leave teaching, at least in the U.S. At first I was looking at smaller cities in Mexico but I did love living in Chicago and Guadalajara seems a bit smaller but still a good size city. It seems easier to meet people in the city, at least from my experience, not everyones. I am looking at different job opportunities, including teaching. After thinking things through I am thinking more about looking at Guadalajara in more depth. Thanks!

This is a great interview with Wendy.I absolutely loved her willingness to express her view on life in the US right now. It brought tears to my eyes. I do wish you had let her talk a bit about the neighborhood some while doing the neighborhood tour. I am planning to move to Jalisco in June. But now I'm interested in this neighborhood in particular. I noticed the roads are wider, sidewalks appear to be paved, and I didn't see cobblestone like I do in Ajijic. It would've been nice to learn a little bit more about this area from Wendy. I noticed she would point things out while walking, and you would just continue with your voice over. I would've liked to know some of the things she was pointing out. Now, I am going to do some research on the area and look at available rentals. Thank you, Wendy. Your authenticity is extremely refreshing.
Sorry to disappoint. The reason I had to do a voice over is because that was filmed on our first day in Guadalajara and there was something wrong with the audio and I had no choice but to do a voice over

I see every day everything you mentioned about having to live in the US...I am a grandma who has rescue cats and have been trying over a year to get to Mexico: just haven't found a way to travel with pets! I feel like a caged animal here, afraid of all the toxicity, everyone openly carrying guns, the outrageous costs and the hatefulness here. How can seniors survive in this environment? Family & friends have berated me again and again 😒
I know we would have a wonderful, peaceful life there without this constant stress... I would also be an immigrant!
Please, anyone who would be willing to share a drive to Mexico with us, it would go more quickly, cost less, and my kitties and I would be most grateful for any help 🙏
Check on Facebook in some of the Expat living in various parts of Mexico Facebook groups. You can find many reputable drivers/movers to help you and your kitties cross the border and find your new home. Good luck with everything!

Jose! Hopefully, you'll have time to visit the Baratillo market, it's the largest in Latin America. Or to go for breakfast and buy very cheap clothes at the Tianguis del Sol, to get to know the San Juan market, the zoo, Andares, etc. Many places to visit downtown and more! I miss Guadalajara a lot! Enjoy yourselves! Great video!
We didnt get to see those places while we there for a a week, but we did get to see a bunch of other amazing places! Guadalajara is huge! Looking forward to our next visit so we can check out some of the spots you mentioned. Thanks for sharing!

I am considering retiring in Mexico in the near future. My mom and dad were born in Mexico and I was told that I may be able to apply for Mexican citizenship because of this fact. It still seems like it is going to be hard because my mom passed away in 2020 and I haven't seen my dad in over 45 years. I have my mom's Mexican birth certificate and other documents but none of my dad's. I will be going to the Mexican Consulate in Seattle to see if I can become a Mexican citizen with my mom's information. Thanks for making these videos it motivates me to look for properties to buy in Mexico. So far I am interested in Ajijic, Chapala, Guadalajara or Mexico City. I'm not much of a beach fan so I am not interested in any of the coastal cities. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

En fin, en el fondo México siempre ha sido un país abierto a la migración, por lo que se acepta a ciudadanos de todo tipo sin distinción, siempre y cuando se adapten a los usos y costumbres de la región donde lleguen.

There will be a lot of Canadians moving to Mexico and other countries too, in the next few years.
Conditions in Canada have taken a sharp turn downwards in the past few years. The cost of living is wildly out of control, and wages are not keeping pace. People cannot afford rent, which has more or less doubled, house ownership, especially for younger people, is almost impossible. There are issues of government "encroachment" on our lives, as in the case of there being more and more censorship. (For quite a while there, I couldn't even access CNN online or on CZcams. I still cannot access RT - Russian Television - on CZcams). The taxes are incredibly high. The Healthcare, while paid for through our taxes, is difficult to access and not exactly comprehensive. A huge portion of the population doesn't have a family doctor. And you would think that the many "drop-in" clinics might be useful for those people, but in order to make use of them, you need to have a family doctor. (WTF?). I think that for a lot of lower income Canadians, the cost of groceries has increased so much that food is almost unaffordable, and healthy food is almost out of reach. Most cities are built in a way that necessitates a vehicle, which adds the expenses of gas, (outrageous), insurance, and upkeep. It's next to impossible to get the things you need to live without a vehicle. The exception might be is if you live in a metropolitan area. But then the rents are even more obscene.
Crime is increasing. Drug use is increasing. Homelessness is sadly, on a huge increase. There are homeless encampments all over the country. There are at least 2 in the 4 block walk between my house and the downtown area of my small (30,000 population) town. There is a massive housing shortage, and immigration has been out of control for the past few years. Canadians have generally been accepting of immigrants, (we are a country of immigrants), but many people are wondering why Canada's government continues to promote immigration in such huge numbers when there is nowhere for people to live.
Long story short: Canada has become, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future, a bad place to live.
And I haven't even mentioned the 5-7 months of crappy weather affecting everyone's moods.
Hell, even recent immigrants are moving back home. Can you imagine how terrible it must be here, when people who have uprooted their lives and oftentimes spent a huge portion of their savings to get here, are turning around and going home again.
It's pretty bad.

Near that area there are many restaurants, bars and cafes. The commercial areas and the housing areas are separated so that they can coexist without problems with each other. But there is a lot of nighttime activity nearby!

Expat is short for expatriate from the Latin expatriatus. It is not from "expatriot". It does not mean or have anything to do with being a former patriot. Expatriate just means someone who lives outside of their native country. If you live outside of your native country for a limited period of time with the intention of returning to your native country you are an expat not an immigrant. If you live outside of your native country for an indefinite period of time with no intention of returning you are an immigrant not an expat. Another way of looking at it is that expats are migrant workers.

It depends on the area. But yes of course people go out at night and things are open late. It's not the USA so there are no 24 hour Walmarts but yes there is a very vibrant night life. Stay tuned to see videos of Guadalajara at night
Very close to that area there are gastronomic corridors with excellent restaurants, as well as bars and cafes. There are also several supermarkets very close for shopping.

jose , can you write down the name of the area your showing I'm not sure how you would spell it. The neighborhood looks good for retired people specifically because the streets look well maintained so it is easy to walk around. It also looks like a safer area as well. Thanks

The neighborhood is called "Colomos Providencia" and it is not in Zapopan, it is in Guadalajara (very close to Zapopan)
People in hot countries have bars on their windows because it's hot , they need to leave windows open at night and when they are not home , same in any hot country.😊😊😊
Most of Mexico is not Hot. Only certain areas like in the North where it is mostly desert and in the south which is mostly low lying jungles. But most of Mexico is actually high up in the mountains at a higher elevation than even Denver Colorado. Guadalajara has amazing year round temps which feel like spring most of the year. In other parts of the Mexican highlands it is extremely cold with snow covering everything. The reality is that the bars on the windows are more than just to let the air in, as I explained in the video it is also for protection and in some areas simply to keep animals out. Yeah, I live in Merida, have for years.. no bars and it would be a robbery free for all. People here won't shoot you, but many will steal your shit at the first opportunity.

I totally understand. I felt that way before I finally left and made it out here to Mexico. Since then I have had a new lease on life and more optimistic outlook on my life and will forever be grateful. I know it won't be easy to leave, but it will be even harder to stay. Good luck with everything!

I have no idea, but that is not really my concern anymore. Living in Mexico i don't have to deal with arrogant and horrible people on a daily basis anymore.
I think most americans are arrogant because since america has high wages they brainwash themselfs to thinking that material is happiness. That is what I think.
