What does your answer (pin) mean - am I going to find answers on either of the four links you pinned for me, related to military and retired expats using Tricare in Merida??
why are there so many crossing the US boarders if its so nice there?
o @doreenjohnston7672 the people coming to usa, are from other poor s. american countries, not mexico..
Mexico is my home and it’s been 3 years with no regrets!!! I have learned to just let life happen!! I have learned families still exist! I have learned that community is still alive and well!! I feel free, I feel peace, and I feel grateful
Thanks for sharing!
"I have learned to JUST LET LIFE HAPPEN"!!!! Thats BARZZZZZ and correct!
They are doing what most people dream about. Freedom, quiet and enjoying life - they discovered why Merida is special.
Amen! Well said! Viva Merida!
Beautiful home! I’ve never seen such a big, nice kitchen in a video like this. Wow.
@@GEN_X_ Rubbish. Go look at the crime in your own city you troll
@Gen X They moved to USA. Cartels.
@@GEN_X_there's always ignorant kids around. We understand you. 🤦🏻♂️
Greg and Kaytee are awesome for letting us into their home, so many amazing people choosing to escape and retire or live with freedom in Mexico.
Amen! They are totally awesome!
@@gustavoperez5480 Not everyone from the states has money, I don't show hate or animosity towards Mexicans who move here, who can fault anyone trying to live a better life?

I love her art how much is the Japanese picture??? You know that your art will sell,.to the art galleries places like san miguel de allende,n cerretaro n so on ! I didn't get to see all her beautiful work.,your home is beautiful, most homes have a bathroom in the entrance of a home ,so they don't use the other bathroom.unless it's o k with you.
@@JoseArteagaTravels what are decent months weather wise to live in Merida? Nov to March? Or are those months as hot as Miami????
Wow! This was a great interview! Such a fantastic couple and they seem so down to earth!! No politics! Hallelujah 😎
They are truly awesome and one of a kind! Thanks for sharing!
I live in Mérida, I've lived here for 1 year and it's amazing. The people are amazing and friendly. My neighbors are super respectful and I just love living here.❤💯
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I love this! People that are smart enough to know what they need to do to enjoy retirement!
Amen! Well said! Viva Mexico!
Oh man, these people are living the dream for sure! I am glad you're showing my beautiful Merida.
Yes they are! Glad you enjoyed it!
@@JoseArteagaTravels How much does a house like that cost now a days in Merida in that neighborhood? They seem VERY well to do. I dont think I would ever be able to realize their dream, unfortunately. And how hot does it get there in the "summer"?
I love their home. The walls make it that much more private and surprising to see once you enter.
They have bathtubs 😍
Lovely neighborhood too.
I agree! Amazing home! Thanks for sharing!
I want to find a place with a tub but I hear it’s rare. I’m curious to find out why no tubs in most homes…does anyone know? Just a curious question.
@@nessundorma2000 Ive traveled throughout central and South America and it’s not common. I’m guessing it has to do with cost and temperature. A lot of places don’t have water heaters esp on the coast.
@@nessundorma2000 Water scarcity. I know, I live in Mexico.
H tubs in Mexico ...like freezers in Santa's barn
This was an AWESOME video! Greg and Katie are living the dream! And you can tell they are good people. But what I noticed the most is how stress-free and relaxed they are. I’m still living a stressful life but not much longer. I can’t wait to get to Merida.
Thank you! I totally agree! Much less stressful life out here in Merida! Thanks for sharing!
Me alegra ver gente, que sabe apreciar las ciudades de Mèxico,su clima y su gente y cultura, gran video Josè.
Muchas Gracias! Viva Mexico!
There’s the anecdote of a gringo who finds a Mexican man sitting by a lakeshore, under a tree shade. Gringo asked what he did for a living. Mexican man told the gringo that he was a fisherman and he earned his living with a fishing canoe. Gringo asks why he wasn’t in the water fishing. Mexican tells gringo weather wasn’t good and best fishing season was only 3 months out of the year. Gringo tells Mexican he should work harder and get himself more boats and hire more fishermen. Mexican asks “why.” Gringo explains: “so you can make more money, fish more and maybe in a few more years of hard work you can make enough money to retire in this beautiful lake, sit by the lakeshore under the shades of these beautiful trees and enjoy life.” This might sound exaggerated but I know it’s a close depiction of our cultural approaches to life and living. Most Mexican get busy living and most Gringos get busy dying (quoting Shawshank Redemption).
Love that quote! Thanks for sharing!
Mmm... I think it's way too expensive for the gringo to live like that in the US. Sounds relaxing 😍
100% and Families fill parks on weekends like it used to be long long ago in USa
@@putheflamesoutyahoo1503 Yep. That’s a huge part of the appeal.
❤
I've lived in Mexico and people worry about Cartels and trust me they do not bother Americans or Europeans to do so is sets a group back. Ive actually never saw them while in Mexico. The people in Mexico are so respectful and made so many friends.
Thanks for sharing!
This is so far the best neighborhood you have shown in your videos... wide streets many Parks.. I'm envious!!!
Glad you liked it!
Those bathrooms look like a sauna's 😳 They're gigantic!
I know! I thought so too! With the heat out here they might as well be for parts of the year! 😅
You're videos are great. My wife and I are moving to Merida next month for a lot of the same reasons as these folks. We're packing now, selling stuff and getting really nervous. Your videos help! Thanks.
Thank you! Good luck with everything!
@@gustavoperez5480 What are you talking about? Most of the gentrification is being done by middle class Mexicans. Please educate yourself on the subject further
Congratulations on your move! Wish you the best!
Don’t!! Merida has changed sooo much because of people like you. It’s so expensive now and way too crowded. Please stay where you are
@@Monninaq1 coming from another mexican dont be like that relax buddy..
Such a nice couple, they look healthy and happy.
They are the best!
How gracious of Greg and Katie to share their home and colonial with us.
These are my absolute favorite type of videos to take a peek inside the homes and tour the neighborhoods.
I liked the area they live in La Brisa. Will check it out.
It seems harder to find single story homes (una planta) which is what we need.
I hope you make many more of these.
Awesome! Glad you like them I got many more coming! Thanks for sharing!
Love your channel! Fans in BC Canada
We purchased a one story home in SE Centro. It was renovated and its a combo of modern/historical.
I like how they intentionally place themselves in situations that force them to learn the language. It’s probably the best way to learn it. Smart couple!
I agree! They are totally awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Más vídeos como este José por favor, 👍
Vale ahi vienen! Saludos y gracias!
This house is beyond spacious and very special.
Nice couple too. Kind of them to show it.
Yes truly amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Bruhhhhh that house is SUPER DOPE!!!!! They are killin it!!!!
Facts!
great episode. i love that they mentioned that they specifically chose a non-expat neighborhood and life. it's a pleasant surprise from other retirement interviewees who emphasize expat neighborhood as a requirement. i know it's a personal preference, but it's cool to see it. because it's also how i'd prefer to live; among the people of the country. now-- just need to convince my husband that it's a great country choice.
Wow really!? I had no idea other interviews emphasized that so much! That explains a lot now come to think of it! I really should see other peoples content more so i can have even more context to where many viewers are coming from. So sad to hear so many people say that in order for you to live in Mexico that "You Have to" Be in expat only communities. The reality couldn't be any further from that statement. Thank you so much for sharing! Glad this video was so valuable to you and so many!
They have a beautiful home, and they seems very humble nice people God Bless them 🙏🏽❤
Amen! Amazing home!
It was nice of this couple to show their house and show you around.
Glad you enjoyed the tour and the video!
Thank Greg and Kate for their hospitality allowing us to tour their lovely home. Hope we didn't bug their cat while we watch the video. Thanks.
Nah he loves the attention! Meow!
That was a nice walk I miss that . They are very smart to move to local colonias not ex pats or touristic , I’m trying to convince my kids to do that specially because I’m from Mexico. Thanks for the update Jose .
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for sharing!
She is a fabulous artist! Those paintings are great.
Yes they are!
What a beautiful home. I love the kitchen 🥰. Thanks for sharing this lovely home. All the best to the couple in their retirement years. 🙏
I totally agree! Viva Greg and Kaytee!
Wow! Excellent video. I loved the interview. Very nice couple. I agree that it's so much more culturally rich being around and immersing oneself around the local people. That what I did when I went to study in Mexico. I lived with a Mexican family and my only friends were Mexican. I was forced to only speak Spanish. Pues, como ven, soy totalmente bilingüe y tengo la facilidad de hablar inglés y español. Mi esposa es de El Salvador. Utilicé mi español para conocer muchachas hispanohablantes hasta conocer mi esposa salvadoreña. Gracias. 😊
Muchas gracias! Saludos!
This is an awesome video. Nice folks...
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
That is an astonishing house! 👀👍👍👍👋🇲🇽
I totally agree!
I like the interview and my wife and I are considering where we might move to in a few years. The thing that I enjoy the most about the life in Mexico at least what we have experienced on our vacations is you are out of the rat race. Everybody in the states is in a hurry and so you just get caught up in that rush and you do worry about politics and the future but in Mexico you can absolutely leave that pace and worries behind. I love America but I am ready for a Mexican lifestyle.
Very well said! Thanks for sharing! Viva Mexico!
Thank you both for graciously showing us your home and neighborhood!!! Beautiful home and wish you all the best!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
We have met this lovely couple at a meet up at the beach and I was curious about her art. We live in SE Centro and we feel the same about Merida. We moved from Canada and we did sell everything and moved during covid in Oct 2020. 🥰
That is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing! btw if you would like to share your story with us and perhaps do a similar video please feel free to reach out to me and we can set something up! Saludos y Viva Mexico!

Excellent video, interview & content! Great job, Jose.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Many thanks for the insights from Kaytee and Greg!
Glad you enjoyed it!
These are great people!! You can really tell that they are proud of their neighborhood. These are the kind of foreigners that we want in Mexico; people who can contribute, who are not taking advantage, criticizing or laughing.
Yes I totally agree they are super awesome!
Thank you for letting us view their home. We are looking to retire in Mexico, but are unsure of the area to retire. So interesting...

Greg and Kaytee seem to be such a nice couple. I also live in Florida and I will be ready to retire in 2 years but in another country. Since 2016 this once great country has become intolerable and it will get only worse. Mexico is beautiful and a great option for retirement.
Yes they are great! Thanks for sharing!
Isn't Florida great state for retirement?
@@peaceandlove544 I would say it’s the worst - incredibly high cost, rampant violence, and political insanity every day.
Love you Jose', Merida looks like a great area. I ended up retiring permanently to a small area near Cabo San Lucas. I have followed you for a longtime and glad I did bro!!
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing! Viva Mexico!
Kaytee I absolutely love your art. Your sense of color is amazing. It exudes positivity and energy. Love it!

I love that the master bedroom is on the first floor. Stairs are awful as you age.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes. An elevator would be a requirement for me if living in a multistory house. I'm 68 and healthy but there are no guarantees on staying healthy.
Love their home and neighborhood. I’m happy for them. ❤ Hope they enjoy many years of peace and happiness.
Thank you for the kind words
I love the tiled bathrooms. The pool area. That's a lot of house keeping. It's lovely!❤
I think so too! Great place!
Absolutely love your artwork!

Lovely couple! Thanks for sharing your story.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you guys.....loved it
Glad you enjoyed it!
the town seems so safe and clean
Merida is the safest city in all of Mexico and second safest in all of the Americas!
Really? Every window has bars on it and they went through two locked doors to get into the interior of their home. We do not have bars on our windows where I live.
@@mzm4245 , all over México is like that. So, its not for you to live there. Its "extremely" dangerous!
It was great to see Kaytee and Greg's lovely, amazingly spacious home! Just to see the range of options -- depending on one's financial resources -- is very helpful to those of us considering the move from the U.S. Thanks to all of you for the house and neighborhood tour and all the info. 🙏🌟✔
Glad you enjoyed it! Stay tuned for more!
Great choice great decision to move there , this is super motivation to do this , great videos Jose , cheers
Glad you liked it! Cheers!
So nice of the couple to share their wonderful place as it shows us how beautiful it really is, very nice people, so thanks Jose!!! Bernie from Canada,,, I’ll be there one day,,,
Thanks for sharing! Good luck on your journey!
This was great, Jose. Thank you! And I can't wait to get there. I'd love to see more of this kind of video, and especially more where you look at rentals as that's what I'll be doing. But seeing how happy these two are after two years of living there is wonderful. Love her hair color 💙
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
wonder if renting vs owning changes the income requirements for citizenship.
All the Americans appear to be happier. I am AA and I watch a lot of videos of black Americans living there and they appear to be more at peace and less stressed. I want that for myself and family but probably won't be Merida because I hate heat but most definitely out of the US..
@@angeebb3080 I'm not surprised. I've watched how my AA friends have been treated for decades. For all of my pale and pasty brethren, I am ashamed and hope you find your way to Mexico and a better life. And as Shreveport has been hotter than Merida this year, I think I'll be fine there. Just spend time at the beach. Maybe I'll see you there if you change your mind. Best of luck.
I really enjoyed this video! Hopefully my husband and I can do this one day.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jose. What a great couple! That is such a beautiful home and having an incredible artist filling the home with the warmth of her works is an added bonus. Great to have a big studio to work in Kaytee, and after your move I'm sure you have some added inspiration. I could also do some good work manning that kitchen and BBQ if I don't say so myself. Have Henckels and wasabi will travel! Everyday a mini pool party and cookout! Thanks for sharing your home and your love with us Greg and Kaytee. BTW-I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, FL and after college in '79 I moved to just outside of LA. After surfing and beach camping along Baja for over 40 years I jumped off the hamster wheel and moved to Ensenada last year. My only regret is not retiring and pulling the plug sooner. I love living here! Don't get me started on the friendly people and the food! Buena suerte ustedes dos. Viviendo tu sueno!
