- In this Guanajuato Mexico Vlog I will be giving you a tour of Guanajuato, Mexico to show you why this is the most BEAUTIFUL city in Mexico. Throughout this Guanajuato Mexico Vlog I will show you tons of colorful buildings, narrow streets, cozy cafes, and beautiful architecture. I traveled to Guanajuato Mexico in 2021 and I fell in love with this incredible city.
To start off the day, we visit Plaza de la Paz, which is the main plaza in Guanajuato, and translates to Plaza of Peace. The Plaza de la Paz is a beautiful plaza with a large yellow and red church, tons of colorful buildings, and quaint cafes. After roaming around the main city plaza in Guanajuato, we passed by a beautiful park and the famous Callejon del Beso, which translates to Kiss Alley. An alley that use to allow a young couple to spend time together in secret, has now become a tourist attraction where tons of people gather to take their obligatory photo.
Next, we walked through the main market in Guanajuato, called Mercado Hidalgo (Market Hidalgo). I really enjoyed walking through this market, and it truly has everything you could need. After a quick stop at a local bakery and a few parks and plazas, we walked to the University in Guanajuato (Universidad de Guanajuato), which is a large University with ~30,000 students.
Next, we walked to the famous Teatro Juarez (Juarez Theatre), which is a beautiful theatre right next to the main plaza. After a quick snack, I take you to a famous local event that only takes place in Guanajuato, called a Callejoneada. Callejoneadas are cultural night tours, where local guides take you through the narrow alleyways, playing music, telling jokes, and teaching you a bit about the city’s history.
The next morning, I explore the underground tunnels of Guanajuato before venturing up high for incredible views of the colorful city at Monumento Al Pipila.
I hope you guys enjoyed the video and can now understand why I think Guanajuato is the most beautiful city in all of Mexico.

Guanajuato is literally like going into a different dimension.
HAHAH, it really is a special place!
Delicious bread and baked goods, amazingly colorful architecture, and secret underground tunnels with bats and baths... what more could you ask for!!!
Agreed, Guanajuato really was incredible!
So much beauty in one video!!!

Thanks for the recommendation Maria, I’ve heard Taxco is really nice as well!
Beautiful colors. Nutella bread looked great!
It was delicious!
I married a girl from Guanajuato. We go every year and I love it!
10:17 is the best part of the video
Hahah, just trying to add a bit of humor to spice things up!
04:27 LOL! Loved the video 🤩
Hahah thanks Michelle!
Cool vid! I love how you got to see and record some of the car culture there. No wonder why this city is featured in the upcoming game Forza Horizon 5, it's so colourful and unique! Can't wait to drive around it in the game
It is a really colorful city so I’m sure it will look cool in the game too!
I agree, the most beautiful town !! 😍 🕍
Guanajuato is a true gem!
Come to Morelia in Michoacán, it is also a colonial city but built in a very distinctive way in the 1500's with most building dating to the 1700's, all buildings are baroque and made of bare pink stone in a grid pattern, it truly is one of the most spanish/southern european looking cities in Latin America, there is also another city nearby called Patzcuaro that is also colonial but all building follow a collor and design pattert very characteristic of the state of Michoacán.
Also both cities were founded just afther the spaniars arrived so they are some of the oldest in the country, so there is plenty to see and a lot of history, there are also a lot of archeological sites nearby too as well as pueblos mágicos.
Thanks so much for the recommendations! I’ve heard both of these cities are really nice. I am adding them to my list!
No thanks
Did you say they were built in the 1700s? How is that make them one of the oldest? If the colonizers came to Mexico in 1520. That’s 200 later wtf 😂😂
@@daniellozada3408 the city dates back to the early 1500, but obviously cities change and get built over, if nothing had changed since its founding it would be just a couple of old not to impresive buildings, whereas with its progressive change it is now one of the biggest colonial cities and one of the best preserved in the continent and a world heritage site, don't be an ignorant biggoted fool, Rome wasn't built in a day, neither was Morelia nor any other City.
Most of the building of Morelia today were finished in the 1700, even tho a lot of them started in the 1600, and its not like there arent any buildings from the 1500 either, the plaza were the city was founded has a church and convent from the 1500.
There are also prehispanic ruins in a part of the city that dates back to the 1300/1400.
Fuck you.
wow....this video is 2 years old...roughly 2022. At 3:33 I saw a combo plate of food for $70.....must have been a really good combo.
The food in Mexico is super delicious!

For some reason your video was on my feed. Such a beautiful place. Enjoy Guanajuato 👍🏼
Thank you, it’s such a nice city!
Great video guys.
Thanks Patrick!
Hey Matt
Really liked the vid on guanajuato. Im taking an early retirement in Mexico ( im moving from New Mexico to Old Mexico, ha ha). I was going to move to San Miguel de Allende but decided in Guanajuato instead. Is that you Hawaiian BF traveling with you, ha ha.
You have to go grutas de tolantolongo you can Google???
Thank you for the recommendation, I will add it to my travel list!
Retiring in 2 years and 10 months. We love cool weather, speak Spanish, and don’t care about being around expats. Our short list is Queretaro, Morelia, Guanajuato, Puebla, Oaxaca, San Cristobal, and Zacatecas. We may live in each for a few months but if you had to pick one for us…..
Which city would you pick for us ? Thx !
Oh, we are Vegan if that makes any difference and a bonus would be a city with a jiu jitsu school.
Of those you mentioned, I only went to Guanajuato and San Cristobal. I LOVED Guanajuato. It's big enough with everything you need and super colorful. San Cris is also really nice with more outdoor markets and a bit smaller. I'm sure you will like wherever you chose! Enjoy!
Donde aorediste Spanish nice video cuindese???
Muchas gracias!
Awesome editing, great guided tour!! Can you tell me what time of the year you went ? The weather looked perfect.
Thank you! I was in Guanajuato in the Spring around April/May
I recommend you visit Morelia Michoacan
It’s on my list of places to visit, thank you!
The tunnels date back to when Spain colonized Mexico and the tunnels were used to transport silver; I love Guanajuato, I can't wait to go back to visit again.
Thanks for sharing! Guanajuato is incredible and I hope you get the chance to go back soon!
OK good i many times, next time I go Mexico City
Both Mexico City and Guanajuato are great!
@@MattKramerTravels OK go
you got the Alley of the kiss story a little wrong .They lived there the girl on one side the guy on the other side .They would kiss there since the balconies were so close together .The girl's father didn't want her seeing this boy and was very angry that she continued to see him ,he was so angry that he killed her .After her death I think the boy committed suicide .If you kiss on the 3rd step you will have 7 years of good luck.something like that. It's not alley of the kisses It's alley of the Kiss .
Thanks for sharing this information!
I know you were joking but there is actually a big rally competion that happens in Guanajuato, Leon and Silao, is part of the FIA world rally championship, is called Rally Guanajuato Mexico :) very cool video :) nice shoots and you are very nice and relatable :) suscribed!
Thanks for sharing this, I didn't know about the competition, how cool!
Yeah, I'm currently 8nvestigating for a video about the whole state that I'm making, would you mind if I use a few seconds of your video? I would of course leave a link to your video in the description :)
@@TequilaPrincessMx No problem, good luck with your project
Thanks, it should be up in 3 or 4 days, you can check it out in my channel if you want :)
Nice vid Can't wait to visit! Heading there at the end of the month! Would you do 3 nights in Guanajuato and 2 nights San Miguel, or the other way around?
Thanks Kasia! I would personally spend more time in Guanajuato than in San Miguel. I think there is a bit more to do in Guanajuato, but both places are really nice!
@@MattKramerTravels That's what we started leaning towards! Thank you!!
@@kasiainwonderland Anytime!
Where did you stay while visiting Guanajuto? Hotel or Airbnb?
I stayed in a hostel in Guanajuato
Next time try to go to montaña de Cristo rey silao Guanajuato
Thanks for the tip Carlos!
Love your videos but it would be way more interesting if it were a couples blog! Your boyfriend just stands there being cute in the back! 🤣
We are just friends haha, but I'm glad you like the video George!
Where you are from?
I'm from the USA
@@MattKramerTravels Texas, border with Mexico?
@@laudemara.b.1736 haha I don't live close to Mexico unfortunately
@@MattKramerTravels You didn't understand me, I asked you if you were from the state of Texas, but it seems you weren't!!!!😆😅
Guanajuanto is not the most beautiful city in Mexico, I think that the most beautful city is Taxco Guerrero.
I have heard nice things about Taxco as well, I will have to visit one day!
Guanajuato is a lot more pretty Imo.
He aquí el de comentario que no puede faltar en un vídeo sobre Guanajuato 😂
4:52 Lier! This is just a Forza Horizon 5 event!
Cool video but I don’t like how you assume that Mexico is suppose to be an ugly country and you’re suddenly shocked that it’s not the trashy place that you were told it was
Who else is here because of Forza Horizon 5?
Maybe get some coaching on pronunciation. "GWAN-a-whatto" is really painful to the Mexican ear. Much like "GWAD-a-la-harra", or GWAUCK-a-mole-ee". Ouchie!
