I went from a Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact (4-5 years old) to the Pixel 7. I loved my small phone, but the Pixel 7 is simply amazing. Works fluently, camera is sooo awesome for its price range.

Looking at your battery graph and stats alone.. over the course of 3 days consists of many different app usages and the phone is still at 45% battery with 5hrs 46mins of screen on time..?? That is absurdly amazing battery mate.
Cant understand some ppl complaining about battery life. My pixel 7 pro gets 11 hours sot , using it heavily
I take it you did not see the 1 day and 12 hrs of idle time on his stats? The phone has obviously been on the charger hence his comment.
@@malidan1196 No, look at the battery graph at 3:52 dude... It clearly shows you the drainage over a "3 day" period (Friday, Saturday, Sun) and no it hasn't been charged, read it properly mate

Graph does not show any sign of the phone being charged at any point over the 3 days and the idle time you're seeing is contributed from being on standby, sure hes a human being and sleeps each night right?
I started using last week and really love it. Pixel is my favorite now and dont think anything will change that

just switched from a apple 14 pro max and its been the best thing i have done in a while, im a apple fan boy however this switch has been amazing with no regrets so far at all. and yes the pixel takes a better picture over the iphone, sorry apple fans but its true.
Might move from iphone 13 mini to pixel 8 or 9 looking forward to what google brings out in the future 👀

How's your experience in the last few days? Planning to switch from iPhone 11 pro max to Pixel 7. I think one thing I'll surely miss is the apple maps.

Im not in to Vid Games Only Photography & Web So far the P7 is pretty Amazing phone. Also the last update (Jan5) correct some minor issues on my P7 Other that Im really Happy for choosing P7 Than P Pro. Great review!

Thanks for the nice overview, which is very similar to my experience. Coming from a Samsung 9 I did have to get used to the Google environment and somehow noted that my photos were gone on my camera after things got synched with the cloud, still have to find out why (I now turned synching off). Battery life is actually better than expected but when taking photos it does eat battery. Sometimes I have the feeling that the AI overcorrects photos a bit, and I would like to see an option to choose the amount of AI for the photos, also to see what the 'raw' result would look like. And indeed the low charging speed is not optimal but on the other hand, it is ok for the night. And, I still use Nova as I do prefer their options for setting things up. Overall, I am really more than satisfied with this camera, very happy untill now.

I bought my p7 the day after it launched. Nova launcher for most of that time. I love it, definitely my favorite phone since my 3a XL. Hyped to see what the 3rd generation of Google SOC phones does with the P8, hope.they get rid of the curved glass tho. That shit sucks, main reason I haven't gotten then p7 pro
Yeah, it really is interesting what will happen with the 3rd gen, especially now, when Samsung switch to Snapdragon for the S-series; Could be that they will work with Google only about further high-end SoC development.

How about the heating challenges, because I have my 6A and it gets really hot and sometimes have to close off all apps or turn off data and allow to cool down before usage, does the pixel 7 have same challenge?
It also gets warm, especially now during the summer time.

This is top of the line and basically same as the plus model except for the screen size.
It's priced a little high to be called mid range. I think of Moto as budget to midrange. The 7a is mid-range.

I don't think I'd say it's one of the most hyped ever, that definitely would go to the last year's model in my opinion. Feels like this year's model is going more under the radar. I'd put money that they're probably selling less of this line. Especially given how quickly they discounted them
No these are bestsellers. Basically there isn't much choice left. You either get the Samsung or Moto or pixel. Unless you defect to iPhone your choices are limited in the Android world. That's why these pixels sell well.

Depends what region you live in really, in the US market yeah we are a bit more limited with device choice. If you go to the European market though you've got OPPO, Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, etc. It's really just the US that kills their own cellular market with their absurd regulations.

Thanks for this review. I'm thinking about buying xiaomi mi 11 ultra for 600 bucks or the Google pixel 7 pro. Since you have the xiaomi and the pixel, which one do you think I should buy ?
Mi 11 Ultra is remarkable - especially when it comes to pure image quality out of the camera. But - Pixel 7 with less capable hardware has superior image processing and takes slightly better photos. I also like the video quality better. In terms of performance they will be almost the same.
That was a really comprehensive review. Well done! Personally, I have been using the pixel 7P for about 2 months now and I'm really loving the phone. Like you mentioned, the smart features and the pixel experience is what really sets this phone apart. As someone who's used both Samsung and iPhone before, this is a really fresh experience for me and I'm really loving it!

Since you have a lot of experience with the Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra, do you prefer the >camera< of the Pixel?
yes. Actually Pixel 7 is the first phone in a very long time that I actually use for recording some footage. Works fine with mcpro24fps and its only drawback in terms of how I use a phone is the lack of 24FPS in 4K in the camera app.
In terms of hardware - perhaps the Mi 11 Ultra camera is better. The telephoto with OIS is brilliant too. But ... Pixel's OIS, photo processing and video quality are superior.
@@TechMishka I totally respect your opinion, but the Video of the Pixel is not better then the Xiaomis. Im kinda nerdy on video and did extenisive tests. As soon as you go indoors the Pixels video falls apart. Every part of the image which isnt perfectly lit up, gets unusable noisy. The other thing which I didnt like about the Pixel is that they implement a 50mp sensor but do not let you shoot 50mp. Even the iPhone, which usally is the most restricted device, can shoot 48mp. And it also does not have a pro mode and the Ultrawide is just average.
The Pixel in Video is still years behind the iPhone and somewhat behind the 2yo Xiaomi.
I'm currently running pixel 6a and so far I have no complaints I'm glad that Google has finally nailed it. Great video as always

Yes. There is only space for one sim in the tray.

i have the pixel 7 and i really love this smartphone. However, the really negative thing about this device is the unlock system . Unlocking it with the fingerprint is really a disaster and unlocking with the face only works when there is light.
I don't use face unlock often, but the fingerprint is just fine. And I actually have a condition which sometimes makes my fingerprints almost gone. Try adding your fingers twice - once in normal conditions and once - after you have a shower and your skin is softer.
I have the 7 pro, i think I might return it and but the 7. This phone is massive and I like the lemongrass color

What did you use to check the charging speed?
The Pixel 7 cable + a 100-watt GAN charger.
To put the facts on charging, it is really fast if we use the 30w charger along with the cable provided in the box it's lightning fast what I have discovered so far as the battery runs for more than 2 days after a full charge..Only issue I noticed as the volume button wrongly positioned and the weight of the Pixel 7 Pro..I would have been better off going with 7 as I am not used to carry relatively bulkier phone. To further add, from 18% to 75% within half an HR shud be impressive I guess
in a world of 0-100% in 9min.

Great video, good real life review. Had the pixel 6 and was disapointed by the worst fingerprint reader on the market. Now with a less powerfull Moto Edge 30 but and does the job ok, should will give Google last chance with the 7?
I had the 7, returned it solely due to the crappy fingerprint reader. If that is important stay away from P7.

I have a Pixel 3 since 2019 and the phone runs great still. The battery is old and dying faster than ever, takes forever to charge and the screen is cracked but the software is as smooth as the day I got it!
The speedy software is the major reason so many people enjoy the Pixel line.

Used Xiaomi since 2018 after a few models I wanted to try something else and I bought the pixel 7 pro! IAM so happy with it. Even my girlfriend is thinking of buying the pixel 7!

I'd say so in the some other videos but I don't mind paying say an extra $100 for a 3x telephoto lens. It's gonna be the best value smartphones hands down, couple with the bigger battery from the 6.

Is Pixel 7 worth getting for someone who needs a new phone (currently using Pixel 3. over 4 years old) and like a good camera system but doesn't require high quality images or video for social media or vlogging? In Australia, found one at AUD$499 (USD$323). Seems like a good price. I like the size of the pixel 7 but wondering if the more expensive Pixel 7 Pro is worth it to have the extra telephoto lens?

It's not ground breaker with battery. I used xiaomi 11T 67w and needed charger 2/3 times a day. 1 hour is no big deal for excellent camera and android stock experience and longer battery health

I'm using pixel 6a. The 60hz display is not annoying tbh. It's smooth. The camera is also really good. My only problem is that I got the Japan variant that means I can't turn off the shutter sound and 5G is not supported in my country
It is down to google to decide where they enable 5G coverage. I don't have 5G here either...
I have a 7 and I love it. What I do NOT love is that the back is glass. For some f-ed up reason, the smartphone people consider glass backs as "premium", it is so shite. I would love to have a phone for which I won't have to use a case, something that does not slip out of my hands. I wanted to go for a 6A, but then I wanted the new chip.
I share exactly the same opinion. Glass back is not my thing either.
Need advice, just bought s23 and after 24 hours I already have it online for sale, didn't realise I would dislike it so much, or Android I should say. I'm confused as to why? I mean against the iphone 14 this should be a better screen and 120 Hz but I still hate it. Why? And if I buy pixel will I also hate it? Is it Android or Samsung ui that makes me dislike it ? Pls help. I may have to get iphone 14, not the pro as it's too heavy. Just the normal one , or oppo?
Hahaha, I've had the same feeling as you do. Hardware is awesome, the overall feeling - not so. I mostly disliked the software.
Pixel will have worse display, much worse speakers, worse battery life, tad slower performance, better camera and a lot better software. I am happy to use it again. And will post the S23 review in the coming days.

This was a great phone to use I honestly say I couldn't stop putting my hands on it but at the end I had to go back to the S22U the Pixel 7 & Pro displays are dim for my liking which ultimately killed my battery life.
I have them both and I like the ultra 22 better also.jate the navigation bar back can't be changed and pixel takes twice as long to charge over the ultra however I still take my hauwei mate 20x over both

I have a 7 pro and I think the quality is on par with the s22u and iphone 4pro max. They all have their own goods and bads. I think video on the pixel is not great and not terrible. S22u has better telephoto, but the regular pics come short of the other two. The iphone is a star at portrait and video, but regular shots are just more accurate on the pixels

I got the 6a to get me into the pixel phones and must say I love it best purchase I've ever made I was going to get the 7 but thought no will go with the 7 so I can see what the pixel experience is like,so now I will be staying with pixel and the fact they have their own chip is great I can see the pixel overtaking Samsung in the future.

I think the problem has been sporadically reported . Don't know if this going to involve with most new Pixels. I have the P7 so far no issues!!
@@harrylen1688 What I found interesting is that dxomark rated its display extremely high, but even they made it very clear there's a huge color shift.

@@liv0003 Its ok , it has a less powerful chipset , according to owners and reviewers , the speakers are not as good as other flagship devices , the screen brightness is apparently not as bright as some other devices on the market , apparently it can get quite hot very easily , other companys have better software support .

The 6A seems to have a better camera, I'm not into technology. I do watch a lot CZcams videos and take photoshoots of my cars and videos, so a good quality camera with clear images is important plus good audio for music.

Yeah i agree. the photos look great on the phone but i find that when you view on a bigger display they dont look as good. thats what i noticed with the pixel 6 anyway. now i have the s22 ultra and yes it takes more time getting the right shot but i find when you get it right it is alot better and still looks great on bigger display.

I have the 7 Pro now for 3 weeks. It's an amazing phone
I've had it for 5 weeks and find it very underwhelming, the phone get warm and drops frames like crazy when you game. The Tensor is not a flagship level SOC by a good margin.
It's just ok. Not great not terrible. No major improvement from 6.
Samsung used this platform for two generations of the Ultra series. It is good enough
I am about to switch to a Pixel 7, and admittedly one thing I'm dreading about switching is charging/battery. Coming from OnePlus the charge times and battery life is insane, and I don't know why the major brands like Google, Samsung etc haven't implemented faster charging speeds.
I'm the sames dude I had a one plus and switched to pixel 7 pro literally today, gonna see how much slower at charging it is.

Curved screen is only with the Pro. The camera bump is pretty cool IMO.
I have the Pixel 7 Pro and what sucks is that the Bluetooth just doesn't work in my car. Completely broken. Lots of people report the same issue on Reddit. Seems like the latest January update broke Bluetooth compatibility with older cars (mine is 2013)

I have same problem. It won't connect to my card machine. It's been a nightmare since the update. Also noticed a few times the touch screen decides not to work. I hope this gets fixed soon.

I just ordered the 7 and I'm nervous.. have Never used anything but Galaxy phones..but I wanted a change and am so tired of all the bloat ware that comes with Galaxy. Thanks for the excellent review..now I can't wait for my 7 to arrive!

I am the proud owner of a Pixel 7 and it's far from over hyped, specially in Europe where Samsung dominates the market. The one thing that amazed me about this phone other than the amazong cameras, is how intuitive it is to use. Everything is streamlined with so many fun design elements, like when you scroll down the quick settings, the rounded corner matches the one from the screen. It's quirky and cute. Then we have the recorder app, live translation without having to use the internet, live caption... The list goes on and on. Love it!! Lets not forget material you which is amazing as well.

Good to hear. I've been happy with my current pixel 3 but time to upgrade. I like the size of the pixel 7 but thinking is the telephoto lens worth it on the larger pixel 7 Pro. How is the camera on the Pixel 7? Was thinking is the Pro worth the expense for the telephoto lens?

I'm a gadget addict and I used to change my phone 6 times a year and yes I always go back to Pixel phones, been in 3xl, 3a xl, 4xl, 5 and I've jumped into 7 now. So far this is the great phone I have compared to Samsung and other units out there
Pixels are something different. Which makes them sought after.

I have the pixel 7 an it charges fast as hell but I have been using Google phones for 5 years now so I have nothing to compares it too. But I get a full rapid charge in about 45 min

Lately I'm thinking of getting a new smartphone, I settled on pixel 7 in terms of quality / price, and I'm wondering if this phone will serve me at least 2 3 years as a normal high-speed phone with high long-term performance more like iPhones. Or in a year it will start to fail like some kind of xiaomi?
You may want to wait a month or two until Pixel 8 goes official.

Yes. I sent off for a replacement but Amazon was faster to the call for a replacement than Google's own support.

@@KenSamaGomenasaiIt would actually be better, if it was full glass, or full anything. Some people reported that the glass shattered around the backside lens. The glass being inside a metal piece alongside temperature could certaily be the case why the glass broke for them. But tbh, I still bought the 7, because I still love the whole package.

And if you turn the phone off, it uses between 0 and 0% battery overnight. Why would anyone put their phone in airplane mode overnight?

I like to keep the uptime as high as possible, so that I can see if the OS gets slower over time.
Pixel 7pro is the most disappointed I've been with a front facing camera in a while. Don't get me wrong, it is amazing when conditions are proper, but get it to medium light conditions and it gets as grainy as a Logitech webcam from 2008

Great video, however I don't agree with everything you said.. I think the Pixel is way overhyped.
Filming with this phone is not good at all compaired to other phones that I use. Not as stable, the quality of videos overall looks and feels almost as bad as a 2017 Essential Ph-1. It's just bad.
I've used the Pixel 7 as my 2nd device for a couple of months, but I've now had enough and I've decided to dump it.
The screen quality is also way behind in multiple areas.
And off course the sound quality, fingerprint sensor aso are just trash.

@@TechMishka I hate to admit this, but up until recently it's been a phone that I really dislike..the iPhone 13 PM.
However there's a phone that I've been using for almost a week now that's the absolute number one..the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The stability when moving while filming, the mikcrophones, image/film quality aso.
This is my number one.
I had the 7 pro for a month and tried so hard to really like it. It's worst problem is bugs, silly ones like the zoom feature disappeared for a few days, no matter what I tried it was just gone so pinch to zoom was the only way I could increase it. The killer for me was missed calls that weren't showing at all!
Lots of things to really like about it for the price point but it had to go back. Luckily I'm on 02 switch up so I was able to leave it back. The other thing to watch for is damage to the camera bar, it's basic polished aluminium that you can easily damage with a Sharp tap of your finger nail.
Plus points, great screen camera and sound. Maybe in the future I'll come back for a second look.

@Tech4All maybe I got a bad one though when I left it back the sales person said they'd had a few back with the same issues. Even raise to wake hardly worked! Such a shame cos I really liked it!
The faster the charging, the more is trashes your battery. The Pixel 7 isn't "slow" but other phones are ok trashing their batteries for speed.
no one expects 2 day battery life in 2023. Even the battery king 14 Pro Max can't get 2 days.
The camera is excellent. Considering it goes up against phones that are twice its price and comes out on top most of the time.
It's just a fantastic phone. then throw in the bonus of its price, and it is a flagship killer. Don't look at specs, they don't matter. what matters is how the phone performs in real life usage, and it is excellent. handles everything I throw at it without issue. I actually went from an S22 to the regular pixel 7 and I thinks its better than the S22.
fast charging does not destroy your battery. heat does, and modern phones have software and hardware protection against batteries heating up...
Charging is fine. Battery is ok. But you need to get iPhone to experience true power. Check the specs and benchmarks. That being said this pixel ain't bad. But kinda overhyped. Nothing special.
You can get well into the second day on 14 pro max , it’s pretty good , and there are times I see 2 days depending on use , i never worry about having to charge it for a single days use .
Well... I have used Oneplus phones ever since they introduced their quick charging. Didn't notice any degradation over time
...

The included launcher locks and you have to factory reset the box.
therefore the box needs an update. Has anyone come out and how do you install it?

@@TechMishka As you probably know, it is often not the factory itself that sells it, but many shops that only sell it. Also often the order is sent to a warehouse and the seller often knows nothing about the product he is selling.

Both of your statements are kind of strange...
1. Camera quality is insane in low light
2. The photos are being recorded in the DCIM folder on your phone - just as with every other Android smartphone. If you need another Gallery app to look at your photos - there are plenty of them - just check for Gallery apps in google Play store.

It feels warmer than devices with SD 8 Gen 1+/Gen 2, but I never had overheating issues.
The unforgivable omission in the 7 and 7 Pro is no 25/50 fps. I have a Google Pixel 6 and struggle with flickering lights all the time here in the UK. Why are Google Pixels set to NTSC with no PAL Region settings. Most of the world is PAL. If Apple can do it, why can't Google.
Send them a feature request! You can try some third party camera apps.
You don't need high specs to make it a good phone. I had iPhone, few Samsung galaxy and I never used full potential on daily basis. Technology these days allows manufacturers to make good and fast phone out of "decent" parts saving us a lot of money
