      @@princesslivingfree Blacks in America have endured the Tulsa bombings, red-lining, denied loans, "Justified" killings of unarmed Blacks, for-profit prisons, medical apartheid, and 400+ years of inhumane slavery. Africa [Ethiopia] isn't perfect, but it's good to know our brothers/sisters are considering the psychological aspect of their children's upbringing. I'd trade quality of life, freedom, health and mental wellness than declining racist America any day! Nothing but love directed your way✊

    I’m sorry this happened to you. Ethiopian people are very kind and honest. This past two year has been difficult for Ethiopians, America played a big role in the war that was going on, and in a way, Ethiopians lost respect for Americans. Just like the Palestinians get triggered when they find out a person is from America. But one thing is for sure Ethiopians love Black Americans/ Jamaicans. I am sorry you felt this way, my sister. Great one again Princess and family. I must say the negative experiences you've had with some individuals are inevitable in some counties in Africa. You probably know that here in South Africa, we have had serious incidences where African immigrants were made to feel unwelcome by black South Africans mainly. I know the issue is much more complex to discuss here. It is said Charles Darwin himself once noticed the same behavior in a herd of thousands of cattle in Uruguay. He noticed that animals have a way of separating into sub-groups of between fifty and a hundred and will always find and stick with their own after a storm. I am glad you found out that it is often a small number among many who tend to follow this way of life just like here in South Africa. I am also glad that you are mature enough to see through it all that in the end, if one cares to look, there is a lot that is good and right out there...

    It's essential to recognize that negative comments or attitudes from a few individuals do not reflect the sentiments of an entire population. In the context of Ethiopian-Italian war, the support and contributions Black Americans, played a significant role.
    During this historical period, many Black Americans felt a strong sense of solidarity with Ethiopians. They saw Ethiopia's struggle against Italian aggression as a fight for independence and self-determination, values that resonated deeply within the African American community.
    One pivotal event was the Battle of Adwa in 1896, where Ethiopian forces, under Emperor Menelik II, decisively defeated the Italian army. This victory was not only a momentous achievement for Ethiopia but also a source of inspiration for people of African descent globally. It demonstrated that Africans could successfully resist colonial ambitions and assert their independence.
    the collaboration between Ethiopians and Black Americans during the Ethiopian-Italian war was rooted in a shared commitment to freedom, independence, and the recognition of our common humanity. This historical solidarity serves as a powerful reminder that, regardless of race or nationality, we are all part of the same human family, capable of coming together in times of need.

    -The internet and social media can also be a mean and toxic place.😡 Anyhow, Baby girl, Its not prudent to be disturbed by comments by "anonymous people" that you dont know on the internet .You dont even know who they are, where they are or what there agenda is etc. There are billions of people on the internet and you should not take the comments to heart.
    - Black folk will get it together eventually and Im hopeful of the future. As an Ethiopian who grew up "Black American" in the US. You can bank on the 80/20 ratio for people. Some people just dont know how to act. Pay attention to the people that love you. I love you my Sista❤✊ and ignore the haters. See you in Addis if I could ever afford it. Good day.

    I feel you sis and sorry to hear you are hurt when you relocated to Ethiopia looking for a place to call home.
    I want tell you something. I would love you to make this your project to understand what is below the surface of what you exprience/ observe.
    I was puzzled myself for quite some time when I heard in some twitter spaces. African Americans and African diasoras on each others throat.
    What I came to learn is that Africans do not understand what blacks in the west went through and still going through. African Americans also don't have the realistic understanding of Africans and Africa either- you know the dark continent.
    Why? (Western) Media brainwash my sister. What we know of each other is what we learn through those narrow windows which is very good at brainwashing us.
    Africans see and hear all things bad about African Americans, starting from almost always taking on a bad acting in Hollywood movies to almost always accused of crimes (against each others) by western median.
    And African Americans only see & hear terrible wars and famine about Africa in western media, despite the fact that if you dig deeper, the west almost always has a stake in those wars and conflicts-startbwith colonial legacy.
    Anyway, I would love to connect & share my perspective. I could be wrong, but this is our must to do project to fight back the misinformation and misconception about the brothers and sisters. It would make agreat book, in my opinion.
    Africans in general and Ethiopians likewise, but probably worse because, as uncolonized country, we don't fully understand the pain slavery brought to our brothers and mother Africa; and to those descendants in the west and vise-versa.

    I don't know if you've heard this story before. Oprah Winfrey visited Ethiopia during the great famine in the 80's. Her mission was to see those who were affected and to donate aid. Back then, most Ethiopians didn't know she was a celebrity(no cable tv no internet). Her white body guards and aids were treated well while she was brushed aside until people found out she was a VIP. But after many years(around 2000 or so), the reception was different. She was welcomed like a queen. Yes, unfortunately that happens. Ethiopia fought Europeans in the colonial times yet in our recent history kinda worship them. That's neo colonialism. I tell you what, speak a fluent local language(especially Amharic). blend in. You'll see the difference. Those white worshipers . . . we call them 'banda' (uncle tom). The loyals of the Italian occupiers back in the day (in the '30s), nobody didn't want to even dine with them. They were social outcasts. Even those mixed children of Italian and Ethiopian parents were treated badly. African-Americans and black people of the Caribbeans see Ethiopia a symbol of independence since it's the only nation which defeated Europeans at the battle of Adwa. Many other African countries copied the green yellow red flag from Ethiopia to commemorate that. But sadly we've less respect for them. Many Ethiopians identify themselves as Habesha instead of African. . . But even among Ethiopians, one tribe discriminates another. . . so it's not only you. You're a very beautiful and smart person and those who are discriminating you are stupid people.

    • @princesslivingfree
      @princesslivingfree  Před 2 měsíci +1

      What I have come to realize is, colonization affected us ALL as black people. Even though Ethiopia was never formally colonized, the mental- or neocolonization as you call it was detrimental. That is why we as a people hate ourselves and “worship” those with white skin. We must over come this evil that was done to us.

    • @addpuppets9326
      @addpuppets9326 Před 2 měsíci

      @@princesslivingfree The sad part is, when they come to our country we treat them with respect. Almost like a royal family. but if we travel to America, the reception is quite the opposite. (What's the opposite of a royal family? . . . anyways . . . ) Especially if English is your second language. It's not even good enough if you don't speak English with American accent. But I can't say all American people are like that. There are so many good people from all backgrounds. I gotta be honest with you. I met those kinda people who make you sick to the stomach . . . only very few bold ones thou. Many don't show it. . . because they're afraid of the legal consequence especially in the work environment.

    I’m African American, and I love Ethiopia, have been there many times. Though I’ve encountered racism from Ethiopians, it’s very rare. And I end up finding out that the rare Ethiopians that I encountered who were racist, aren’t even liked by many other Ethiopians. That just means that those racist individuals had issues all the way around, so much so that their own people distance themselves from them. This taught me that it is a mistake to generalize and assume that because of this individual Ethiopian’s racism, that all Ethiopians are racists. And nothing could be further from the truth.
