I'm an interior designer, moved back from Melbourne. I can help u with the interior partition, windows, doors positioning. Interior partition is less rated in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. I'll make a lot of differences in ur home.
We have already finished the walls. I definitely wanted input from an interior designer though! We’re going for a modern style home.

unlike in the US the walls are not made of wood which can be hazardous if there is fire. But good for insulating/heating in a bitter cold climate. Addis is not too cold so blocks are fine. When I was in Ethiopia most houses didn't have AC or fan. We just crack a window if it's hot. But the heat is bearable and those blocks have some cooling effect. So your castle is coming along fine. Rainy season is coming making the roads inaccessible. Dirt roads become muddy. That's the downside. BTW it's #Sheger not Shagar.
Yes, I definitely have found that cement blocks keep the home cool which is great when it’s hot. Yes, rainy season is on the way!

So far we’ve spent between 5-6 million birr. We’ve finished all the way to the block walls.

Great and congratulations, building a home is not easy! What's the size of the plot, and how much of it are you using for your home? Also, how much has the project cost you up to now?
It’s not easy at all! Our plot size is 200 sq meters and the main house sits on about 140 sq meters. So far we have spent just over 5 million birr.

I also have a similar project planned, scheduled to commence within the next few months on a plot of land of about similar size. It involves constructing a 3-story building with a deck on top. Please do so. Most contractors miss that part and the end product steals the beauty.
Lucky me- I contracted a diaspora engineer/ contractor and he executed it amicably( The walls in every floor are leveled as if they were made out of pre- fabricated material or boards as the homes in states).
We have an excellent and highly involved engineer. He is actually the engineer for one of the major hotels in Addis. We’re confident he’s got it covered, but thanks for the advice 🥰.

To build? Approximately 9-10 million birr from start to finish not including the cost of land. This is just a “ball park” estimation. To buy, 25-30 million birr on average.
