- This $40 "Mini Driver" Will SHOCK YOU!
Mini drivers are all the rage and with this $40 "Mini Driver", you might not have to pay top dollar to get your hands on something a little more forgiving that your actual driver! Mini drivers are often seen as more forgiving than a traditional 460cc driver head, but do you lose too much distance and is this $40 "Mini Driver" a good alternative?

When the pro's like James do this kind of test I don't expect a lot of difference, can we see Foxy or someone like him hit both to see how the development has helped higher handicap golfers?
Mr. Robinson- Fun video! I played this club in 10.5 degrees for some time, and still don't know why I "moved on" from it. It always felt very solid and gave good mileage and control. I reckon that most golfers would still get good results from it.
I don't know if it's just me, but in the time I've golfed I feel like the older equipment feels more solid? Like it compresses the ball better giving you the distance from that and not relying on the club face to flex. And when hit hit right, just feels awesome and sounds sooo good.
Sacked for a microphone! Best of luck Bobby, it's been fun! 😂
I still use DCI starship drivers and the full set of DCI irons as well
I still have my old Titleist 975J from about 2001. It's got a head size of 312cc. No idea how I got down to single figures on it! It looks tiny now. Best feeling driver ever btw. Try one James.
My favorite driver ever.
Can't bring myself to throw it out @@BrandonGavin_EDC
As Tom Wishom said, Clubhead size has nothing to do with distance.
I found one of those old cobra drivers for $2 at thrift.
No joke after around the Titleist 975J drivers started to feel like shoeboxes to hit. Everyone is used to them now but those old clubs can be hit very well.
Just shows there are alternatives to the £500+ drivers for a great price😊
I was going through my old clubs and found my first driver from that timeframe. I decided on an experiment of trying to turn it into a mini driver by cutting shaft length to 43 and added some lead tape to bottom and back to improve center of gravity. I couldn’t hit it well back then so I’ll see if these modifications and an improved swing will help.
After watching numerous CZcams pros hit older drivers compared to current drivers, it seems pretty consistent that there has been about a yard per year gain over last twenty to thirty years.
Cobra needs to bring back their old logo. So much better than the current one.
I still considered 3 wood a mini … ain’t wasting money for a mini driver..
I played cobra my whole competitive career. That was put on hosel to stabilize the club head thru impact when in rough etc. my irons in college used that technology it didn’t last long lol. But damn this cobras were always great clubs.
My brother had the exact same driver over a decade ago and he absolutely killed it off the tee and DOD!
You should do a review for the long tom 2 wood, not that old and could be really good as a mini driver, 12* and 235cc, smaller than original one but bigger than any 3 wood.
Your videos use to pop up in my feed every morning and I’d watch while exercising. I haven’t been notified of one of your videos in weeks. I don’t know if it’s happening to others. If your viewer count down you should look into this.
Have you ever thought about doing a video of older Tour Only models vs today's models?
The old Tour Only models were much lower spin, than the OEM equivalent.
Maybe some old Adam's 9015/9016 heads/shafts. Or paint break TM heads etc...
I have a few if you'd like try them...🤷♂️
Edit:I still think Adam's old 9015 from address is still the best shaped, and looking driver of all❤ time....
It's funny how much the game has changed. Then again the pros back then were deadly with their 2nd shots from 30 yards further back. I guess if you can't drive the green, keeping it in the fairway is still key. Get a good angle in and make the shot
Thanks for shaving!
Now put a 45 inch shaft on Paradym mini driver and test
£40?!?! Pffft…I bought a 9deg and a 10deg Orlimar Trimetal drivers from the local Goodwill for $5 out the door. They’re fantastic, especially off the fairway.
And yes, you do have to swing just a liiiiiiitle differently than “normal”, but these old drivers can SING!
I believe when Tiger Woods first came on Tour he was using a Cobra Driver.
I got a par of these (driver and 3) on ebay fir $18. I still swap them in and out
I remember that driver back in the day
Well done James 😊
I believe that shark fin on the hotel helped with the balance of the head.
Oh...old clubs were so cool back in the day...Oversized, the 300cc driver 😆
Edit: I believe 97' the balls actually spun more when playing Balatas or Tour Professional 90/100
So, 20 yards shorter than the modern driver..
Who needs ball roll back?
Just make the pros use smaller heads with less tech..
Ive just solved golf....😶👌
balata balls--spun way more than they do now-ballooning if you put too much spin on it, left and right were way more than what you see today.
Balatas were so much fun to just whip back miss the old precepts as well
Keep Bobby
What is a driver going to look like 20 years from now?
James, know you would never sack Bobby. That'd be like turning a sweet puppy into the humane society for weeing on your coat. He's trainable, just give him time.
I would spend the extra 400 pounds on whisky and loose women
