Love these videos btw - thanks
I love seeing the oddball stuff, Brad. And the SPORTs also
Thanks! I love the oddball stuff too.
The 1990 Beckett Bo Jackson Cover is just awesome, really sweet! I also think the graded Victor Wembanyama SI is worth the $454- the person plunked down, really nice!
love the bo jackson cover thanks brad ps i have an inside sports heather locklear swimsuit cover i hope to eventually get graded
Nice my Bo Newsstand edition made your list
Sweet!
Subscription videos need to happen to keep this hobby alive for years to come - nothing wrong with a label - it’s still soooooo valuable
As someone who put together a huge SI collection together back in the early 2000's, 99% newsstand, my prediction is you are right about subscription issues, but it'll take a few years for all the newsstand issues to dry up. I'd say look no further than the subscription Mantle in this video that went for $460 ungraded as proof. My advice to all young collectors right now would be, grab all the nice subscription issues now and hold on to them. Learn how to remove labels cleanly. And start grabbing SPORT issues right now too... just my humble opinion.
@@gcxred4kat9 I grabbed that '56 Mantle and label is already neatly removed. Should grade 7.0 or better
@@fortuna500cgc I've got that 1st issue '36 SI you've got pictured. I assume you have one? I've got the 1st and 2nd and 6 others from '36. Took me awhile to find out how long that first iteration of SI ran for, but Phil Regli, an SI expert, recently told me he's pretty sure it ran till '39.
Could you comment on Wilt Chamberlain SI covers. I read on some sight that his first cover was in 1958. If so, I Can’t even find a picture of the cover. You know more than anybody about covers, how many, value, etc. Thanks for any information
Wilt's first SI cover was in 1961. You can see all of his SI covers here: www.sportsillustratedissues.com/search?q=Wilt+Chamberlain
His first mainstream cover of any kind was 1957 when he was on the cover of Sport magazine.
Thanks for watching!
Trisss Speaker not Triz.
Good to know, thanks! I'll be sure to pronounce that properly from now on.
You seem upset.
@davidmitchell6873 Not at all. I didn't know it was pronounced like that and sincerely appreciate you letting me know. Sometimes when there's an older athlete with a unique name, I'll try to find another video with their name in it to confirm the pronunciation before I speak it in my video. But I always had just assumed his name was pronounced "trizz".
Ok cool. I really enjoy your channel. I started collecting Sports Illustrated back in the 90s. I have a nice baseball and NFL collection but I don't get them graded.
