      @@ShopRamblings their thin rip jig is excellent. That was the 1st thing I bought. IT has both imperial and metric scales. You just need to determine the zero point for your saw. Then add that to your desired strip width. The roller bearing only rolls one way,

    Great review that just popped up. I like your ‘no nonsense’ style and obvious familiarity with the functions and clear demonstration of their use. Many of the tools shown are on Amazon here in the UK, but not the sharpening guide - deep frustration - I’ve got a box of chisels desperately in need of attention !! I’m going to have to do some deeper research into availability in Europe. Thanks again.

    The honing guide for bench chisels and plane irons is pretty much identical to the Wood River/ Woodcraft model. I would not want the 2 guide wheels on either side because one in the center would make it easier to put a small amount of camber on the edges of your plane irons. These tools do look well made.

    Nice video. The tools do look good. I have never heard of this brand before CZcams popped your video into my feed. So I googled the name but Google Chrome didn't recognise it and tried to spell-correct my search. The only two results were your CZcams video and an Amazon listing for the blade sharpener (over a hundred dollars AU with shipping and tax). I suppose if China can build space stations, gen 5 fighter jets, 400km high speed rail, etc. they can probably build good quality tools if they want to. Well, they say competition is a good thing. The wireless microphone your are using works fine, but you need to move it to the left or right. When your breath hits the mic, it causes noise and can be a bit annoying. You are correct. Measurements are metric and imperial. Imperial are used in the US, Liberia, and Myanmar.
      The main two types of bearings are linear and rotary. I have several drill guides, almost all just have a bushing that can wear over time. I though it showed the though put into the tool be using a bearing instead of just a bushing.
      What are you asking, about if it will work in Europe? The tool or the link? I didn't put prices in the video as they seem to be changing. It is a new company. Since I have been watching them they have been listing coupons on almost every tool. I would hate to say this is $30, then when you go to the link it is $40.

  • @theofarmmanager267
    @theofarmmanager267 Před 6 měsíci

    Very interesting. Of course, the real test will come after a good bit of use. Then you get the final picture but, if it feels solid, looks well ,add, then you are probably more than half way there.
    I’ve been woodworking for over 45 years and, going back a few years, I bought a ruler (or square, I can’t remember) from Veiko through Banggood. For the price, I had to try it but I wasn’t expecting much. I was wrong. Using all the tests and comparing to my Woodpecker equivalent, the Veiko piece was as equally accurate (as far as I could see; this is woodworking not rocket manufacture). We then bought another piece and then another and then another. Nothing has disappointed. It is just very, very good quality.
    The next question could be “how do they get that quality so much less expensive than some brands.” Or perhaps “why are other brands so expensive?”.
    The real question, I think, is the second one. I would suggest that we have been paying premium prices for prices that do not justify those prices in terms of cost plus profit. I would suggest that bean counters and marketeers have calculated how much can we get away with charging for this? Of course, all that is backed up by lots of advertising, marketing, free tools to YT people - all of which, we as consumers, pay for.
    It would be interesting to understand the manufacturer behind GoingMake and Veiko. Could they be the same? I don’t know. It seems that if you want something in a day or so, you go through Amazon. If you are not that desperate, try Veiko.
    By the way, I have no commercial link to Banggood or Veiko. I’ve never received a free tool or even a discounted tool. However, we are always open to free tools; but the providers would have to accept an honest opinion - that will put a lot off.

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings  Před 6 měsíci +2

      I also have 2 Veiko. The 16" and 30". When I shot the video, I compared the Goingmake to the Veiko. The Veiko has two rows of holes. It says it goes to 32nds, but there are only 16 holes per inch. The GoingMake has 4 rows and 32 holes per inch. The GoingMake also has a shoulder thatsirs on top of the wood, making it more stable. The Veiko is a great tool. I have used mine for years. The GoingMake is a step above.
      I found this in every tool I received. They all had something more than the average tool. They may may be a few dollars more than some of the similar Chinese tool but are in the same price range. Are they worth $4 more than the Veiko, definitely. Is Woodpeckers worth 4x as much, not in my opinion.

      I have only been paid for one video. I used the money I was paid to buy expensive materials to make some cutting boards for a video. Then gave
      them away to people who commented. If I pay for a tool and it is unexpectedly bad or the company doesn't stand behind it, I may put out a video on it. I try to put out mostly positive videos. If a company send me a tool for free and it is not good I may not do a video on it. If I do a video , every word is what I think. I do not write scripts or pre-plan what I am going to say. I may mis speak sometimes but that is just because I am making up what I am going to say as I go. My brother in law was visiting and helped me film this video. Every tool they sent me, I already had. I don't need two of the same tools so I kept the one I liked the best and gave my Brother in Law the other one. Out of the 6 tools I kept all 6 of the GoingMake tools. As I said, everyone of them had something unique or better then every tool I had purchased. Sorry if I sound like an infomercial but I get excited when I find a good deal on quality tools.

      They don't sell directly. They only sell through other platforms like Amazon.

    He wonders why not all tools aren't black and white. Try picking up a black metal tool that has been setting out in the sun but in shop conditions, it's perfect.

      Luckily, when I need Precision Tools, I am working inside.

    Good looking tools but a really strange company name. They need the services of an American marketing specialist to come up with something better (which wouldn't take much!). I actually ordered the square yesterday from Temu before I saw this video.

      I think they're running out of names so they're just throwing words together now.

      It may be. I do not know for sure. I thought all the packages said made in China but could be wrong.

    First tool! You did not verify if it was in any way accurate.

      I did. It just got cut in editing. Sorry about that. We filmed for about 6 hours. A lot gets cut, turningsthat into a 10-minute video.

    Not sure how you can call them quality tools when you didn't check to see if their measurements were accurate.

      I spent several hours testing these tools. I actually used a micrometer to check accuracy. I lot gets cut when you condense 6 hours into 10 minutes. Sorry, next time I will try tomake sure to include that.

    Just the usual stuff …..their range of products, who owns it, which country are they based in, what’s their mission statement…….

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings  Před 4 měsíci

      All that is good to know when donating and volunteering. When I need a tool, I want to make sure it is a quality tool and I can afford it.

      I would love to have all American made tools. However, many are not made in the US and the ones that are, I can't afford.

      There are not many things you can buy that don't have parts made in China anymore.

    Any tool review that does not address the price is a waste of my time.

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Right now, it is getting close to Black Friday. This is also a new company. If I say it costs $30. Then in 3 months the price goes up to $35. People will then say I am trying to scam them. That is why almost all reviews don't say prices. Most videos that have prices are deal or sale videos that aren't expected to be watched are a week or so.
      Sorry to have wasted your time.
