- I've always liked this digital duck. It's cute and unique. Overall a great design. However, since it's walled off behind the ridiculous game corner pricing I've never used it in generation one. Today we find out if I can beat all of Pokemon yellow with this little ducky!
Thanks so much for watching. Like, comment, subscribe and ring the bell for more.

Porygon's back sprite is staring into my soul.
@Lawrence Deshawn maybe you should trust your girlfriend or just not be with her
@@SantaFeSuperChief1 the other guy deleted his comment so this is equally the most intriguing and random comment possible under the original comment
@@od3910 lmao it was some spam comment about being able to hack into your girlfriend's Facebook account to spy on her
It is both hilarious and terrifying.

Scotts thoughts: This pokemon is the most expensive thing in the game.
Bicycle: You forgot about me.
I did forget the Bicycle! If only there was a Porygon voucher... :(
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Sadly there is but one way to obtain a Porygon without beating the elite four 50-60 times or spending days at the slots. Or use a gameshark, and that way is to use the trainer fly glitch I always use this glitch myself to catch a mew whenever I get a case of nostalgia and want to play Pokemon gen 1. :) And Ohh gawd Mew is the queen of Pokemon.
@@kevindudson2344 I did see a shortcut to get Porygon in a 386 challenge. What they did was buy enough coins to get up to 9500 coins, then bet 1 coin to get 9499 coins, then go back and buy 500 coins to get 9999 coins. I was blown away at how simple that strat was.
@@kevindudson2344 use the missingno glitch to duplicate nuggets, bada bing bada boom
There's a fun glitch where if you ask for the Bike without the Voucher, your text will scroll *super fast* until you use an item or open the menu. Used in the speedrun
Wow I have never seen porygons back sprite. Good run
Considering no one has used it before, I think most people would agree. Lol
I've thought that on most of Scott's runs. Huh, guess I didn't play enough gen 1 as a kid...
I was convinced I'd used Porygon in gen 1 but I've never seen that sprite. Must have only used it in Stadium.
It really just does look like a duck from behind.
1. His back sprite 🤣
2. His cry
3. *Ducky*
Such a weird pokemon. Poor guy took the fall for pikachu causing all those seizures.
Elaborate
@@guessowii
one of the early episodes of Pokemon featuring Porygon had a scene where Pikachu's electric move animation caused seizures to many viewers
but even though it was Pikachu's animation that caused it, Porygon was the Pokemon banned from appearing on TV
@@lotus630 You mean "Electric Soldier Porygon (How its english name would be.)
Also funfact: The next episode: Pikachu's goodbye was made if the pokemon brand would not have recovered after that incident
Scott: I've always really liked technology.
Me: Are you that NPC outside Prof. Oak's lab? :)
Porygon would be pretty good with Psychic, Thunderbolt, Tri Attack and Recover as its moveset
Just a heads up. In Gen 1, Tri attack does only damage, and has no side effects. You don't get the status chances until gen 2. A lot of people miss those sorts of details, so I don't know if that influences you move choices or not.
It's a hard choice between Ice Beam or Thunderbolt. I'd chose Thunderbolt mainly because I find Lorilei and Lance's Gyrados more of a problem then Lance's Dragon Pokemon. Ice Beam is also pretty good against Agatha but its not that much better than Psychic. I feel Psychic, Recover and Tri Attack are musts.
@@Alienldr Tri-Attack didn’t have any effects? Huh. Learn something new every day. I never used it in Gen 1 anyway, but that’s cool trivia.
I still think using Tri Attack is worth it just for STAB. Probably not for the whole run though.
@@zeaferjones1404 BoltBeam is an amazing combination though. Those two moves cover each other's resists amazingly (Ice hits Grass super effectively and Electric hits Flying super effectively for example). So off the top of my head there's no single type in the game that resists the combination. Porygon is slow so it needs Recover and for the fourth move either Tri Attack for STAB or Psychic for even more nigh unresisted coverage and super effective damage against Fighting and Poison types
this video made me realize that i have literally never seen porygon's gen 1 back sprite
You are not alone!
We must make the first digital animal a duck.
I grinded for MONTHS saving up and playing the slot machines and finally got a porygon in yellow. was so happy when I traded it over to silver version and evolved it.
I honestly don’t think I’ve seen the moves Sharpen or conversion before. Great job 👏
Pretty sure they are Porygon exclusives.
I was the loser kid when growing up so I always thought Porygon was my pokemon soul since the kids around me disliked that pokemon for its blocky look.
Thanks Scott! I really like Porygon, it was really fun! And it suprised me really beating all the trainers at a not so high level! Please, reemember displaying the time you spend with each Pokemon to beat the game so we can make a comparison! That would sure be curious! Thanks, bye, so long!
Porygon's a neat mon, I never got one as a kid tho. I'm pretty sure they locked him behind hours of slots because he's actually postgame 'content' (mindless grind/moneydump) for people finishing the pokedex, but even still I wanted to use him since I never did. So in my virtual console playthrough during quarantine I played the slots enough to buy one! With recover and bolt/blizz coverage its basically the poor man's Starmie, so still really good. Not surprised Ducky bodied the E4.
As a kid I remember Porygon always feeling even more special than the legendaries just because I couldn't get the luck I needed at the slots to get it!
"Poor man's Starmie"? The poor can't afford a Porygon in gen 1.
The frivolous rich man's starmie
i always find it cool that Porygon technically learns Conversion2 before Conversion1, even though it learns both at lv1
I'm not sure why but Porygon is just my favorite Gen 1 Normal Type. I think it's just that it's the idea of it is so neat. I wish you encountered Porygon in a better way then just finding it at the casino. It deserved it's own neat little way of encountering.
Should have been on cinnabar
The back sprite of porygon looks like a bird modeled for an 80s sci fi movie.
How do you not have millions of subscribers your content is amazing and I love your dedication to your channel, plus I enjoy this content.
I just started, I figure things will be slow at first. Even if the channel never gets big It's really fun making these videos. Glad you're enjoying watching them.
I am blown away that I didn’t notice sand attack was a normal type move
@Philip Tucker I was gonna say why not use conversion on the first Pokémon become flying and then sand attack wouldn’t work cause it’s ground. But now I know it’s normal. And yeah it’s OP in stadium as well.
lets collectively hate sand attack!
Porygon-Z is my favouite pokemon and deserves more love.
Porygon has always been interesting due to its highly unique moveset. Conversion was always such an interesting idea and Conversion 2 improved upon that in later generations. It was unfortunate to see Conversion abandoned so quickly into this run, but the power of Recover was necessary.
Porygon is really neat!
just beat this run on blue @ lvl 65! i used different moves though
Lorelei: psychic, recover, conversion, thunderbolt
bruno: teach ice beam for thunderbolt
agatha: draw your lottery ticket
lance: elixer & pray for garyados leer
rivial: teach thunder for ice beam, double edge for conversion
did the whole run with no stat boosting moves! also i gave rival bulba.
Nice job! There a big difference between Red and Yellow though. I want to make a video talking about them sometime soon!
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Thanks Scott, I am about to finish up Rhyhorn. It was quite the challenge and I encourage you to give it a run on yellow! Mimic, Agility, Horn Drill really showcases gen one's... gen oneness lol.
@@razzjets94 Are you doing these on video.
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon I just watched you're Seal playthrough and the overlay, Such Growth!
I used to grind through the E4 with Mewtwo to get enough cash just to buy this thing. THen still it takes almost an hour of pressing A to buy all the coins -_-
Yeah I did that when these games released on the vitual console. You need a good movie or something on while you mash A
Not going to lie, for so many years I thought Porygon was based on erasers like we used to have in schools. Never once did I ever think of it looking like a Duck. Honestly, that was a refreshing view and you know what, I completely see it now.
When i first got pokemon yellow. I spent time in the game corner just to buy this usless duck
Okayish stats, a boost move to badge boost with, and a pretty solid overall move pool with psychic, ice beam, recover, hyperbeam, and thunderbolt.
Prediction: After slogging through Brock, things get easier with the game becoming fairly easy from level 23 onward. For fun, I'll respond to this with whether or not I was right.
I am genuinely surprised to not see Psychic against Koga or Rival 5 or at all before elite 4. Weird to not see Ice Beam against Giovanni.
Seems like ya made it hard on yourself than necessary, but I think it worked out alright because it made sure you didn't go into the Elite 4 at too low of a level. Though, probably overdid on the badge boost feature usage. Could've just taught thunderbolt and crushed cloister and the should-be-dragon pokemon. Hyperbeam would've also been really effective.
Porygon's low Base Speed (40) is a blessing since it gets Agility, so you can abuse the Badge Boost Glitch without getting many crits that negate the BBG damage gains. Agility may boost Speed but your Crit chance won't go up as that goes off Base Speed.
Very true!
Just discovered your page today and I love your content please keep it coming
This was awesome!! Great video man! Found my 4th member for my eeveelution run! Lol
I like your stuff. Super informative, well researched and played; without the cringe most Pokémon YTers put out. Keep it up!
He never once told me that one of his horrible jokes is "hilarious!" *Glares at MDB*
I agree I like the little in game tips like "don't forget to get the 2 rare candies in pokemon mansion" you should do more of them perhaps even saying where they 3
Great content can't wait to see the next runs.
I like he takes pokemon many believe are not useful at all and proves they are.
I used his butterfree videos as counter arguments.
Keep up the good work.
From the link I posted on Facebook you got 125 page views! I hope your channel blows up my friend!
Thanks so much, I really appreciate the support
hey Scott, hope all is well. another great video!!!
I really enjoyed this video. As a suggestion for a future run, you might do Pokémon RB with a Wigglytuff. As a kid playing Pokémon MD I remember looking at it being the guild leader and thinking it was some sort of very powerful mon and, although it's not the case in RB, it'd be interesting to see how it does!
Edit: never mind, just saw the jugglypuff run haha
The next round pink ball that I'm doing a run with is Chansey, editting it up over the next few days.
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon that's gonna be interesting too! Hope you'll eventually do clefable as well. That one was the first Pokémon I brought to level 100 so it brings back lots of memories
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Chansey's gotta be rough until you get past Misty.
Oh I really like your move choices this game!.. you are gaming!
Keep consistent brother you’ll get there
That’s impressive!
Tri-Attack/ Psybeam seemed to get you through along with those support moves.
Here to get some intel for the challenge??
Excuse me, Tang-gella?
Amazing video quality brah. keep this up!
Tangella is going to be brutal haha.
I think he ment to call you out on putting the emphasis in the name Tangela on - gel- istead of on Tan- 😅
Scott: I hate Sand Attack!!!!
Me: takes notes on how to be a mega troll with sand attack and double team while holding bright powder
Please no.
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon sorry, but I have followed in the ways of the troll from Pimpnite.
P.S. don't ever accept a challenge request from him. He will troll the life out of you.
fun fact porygon is the only pokemon that evoles by trading twice.
I loved Porygon. Although it took FOREVER, I would try to buy it at the game corner. Something about that virtual little thing just resonated with me. Would have liked more level-up moves, but Gen 2 really brought an awesome updated an evolution to this wonderful little creature thingy.
Love your content keep it up!
I did a Solo Porygon in Red, and due to the Geodude's Curl, I had to gain 3 more levels before I got past him (and without the conversion so that I can keep STAB)
old one, so think your 3 followups probably made this run look quaint, but still want to put a boost on this one! As for Mr. Mime idea (no special moves mr. mime): I had originally thought that that would be doable via metapods to clear out confusion, then I remembered that after a certain level you would start one shotting them and would invalidate the challange -- it was a good concept, though.
Oh god that back sprite. How have I never seen that before?
Wow its been so long since I even saw that one.
I actually got it as a kid, because I thought it had to be a super powerful rare special ultra cool pokemon.
Well it took forever and I dumped it when I reached victory road ...
Ah the pain
Lovely Run. I think you could keep the introduction a bit shorter though
For future challenges I'll try to shave the intro down to half the time. You're right that 2:30 is probably way too long. (Also intro takes forever to edit so less to do would be nice!)
Interesting how venomoth was of the evasion type in this run. Always a surprise :D
Love your content!
Ok now I can't wait for an Sandslash run! :3
Your voice is just asmr.
thanks scott
"I HATE SAND ATTACK!!!"
lol....I sooooo feel ya brother 👊😂😂😂
Porygon looks so weird from behind!
Badge boost activates on the players Pokemon if the enemy uses a stat changing move (leer, growl, ect.) against it. Not only if the player uses a stat move on their own Pokemon
yeah you tend to run out of PP when spamming the damage move, the thing about setting up, it lasts the entire fight, if you raise your specials, or any kind of stat, it will last until the last Pokémon the opponent has, its good to set up for the entire fight, not just attack until you run of pp
That cost is absolutely why I never used one in gen I. I only ever got one in gen IV, and like you evolved it because Porygon is not great on it's own in that gen.
You could have gotten Ice Beam BEFORE Erika but aside from that, good video.
Yep. I was listening wondering why it would be difficult with ice beam.
Porygon, gotta catch em One
Stopping on this 2yr old video to say I hope you’re having a good day
That mr mime challenge gave me a idea if you ever do gen 3 : pokemon emerald with only a mildly suicidal skitty ( or in simple terms a assist only run but you always have a chance to use explosion or self destruct ) yes you have to have both
Thumbs up for the cybertruck
;)
That back sprite tho
First time I got a porygon in yellow when I was a kid I named it DoiAMao that's portuguese for HurtMyHand because that's what happens when you stay buying coins for so long at the game corner.
That’s so funny. Fitting nickname.
Nice run and good video but porygons back sprite looks so derpy.
Tell me about it
Mr. Mime no special could use Struggle until it learns doubleslap.
Man porygon is my fav Pokémon and I like technology but I envy people because I wish I was a kid back then because Pokémon, Mario, Zelda are some of my fav games and I wish I could have been there for the release of games like those and stuff like the internet, NES, SNES, and N64 but I was not that lucky.
I love watching shitty pokemon solo runs. I'm surprised this guy doesn't have more subscribers.
Your pronunciation of Tangela made my skin crawl.
Since I never used it in game and its episode never made it here, I didn't understand what Porygon's deal was as a kid. I thought it was a Gemstone themed mon.
Ive never seen Porygons back sprite before in this game.
Conversion was basically reflect type 14 years before gen 5.
That back sprite is creepy AF
Should have used conversion on spearow to keep stab tackle and you’d be immune to sand attack
Sand attack is normal type in gen 1
O Scott the reason mega punch didn't do as much is because the first fight you were crit
Doesn't sharpen affect the badge boost glitch?
I love how he says tangela 😂
Future quacks
Porygon's pretty powerful its below average stats doesn't really matter much because of how great its move pool is.
DUCKY is best bro
Digital Duck Saga
Holy crap, you actually lost to Bruno on this one! Only once tho, without having to level up or change strategy, so that's still a bad mark against Bruno.
Shhhhhhhhh. My ego can't take it.
You could try Golem with only Special moves
You sound a sleep 😂😂 great video btw
one thing that i bet we are wondering is.... which fossil did you take?!
Lord Helix of course. Thanks for commenting for the algorithm.
honestly, when i hear "No Major Glitches" i automatically assume that the Badge Boost glitch is gonna be allowed...i mean, unless you can actually 'control' the AI-trainers' pokemon...otherwise, all those Sand-Attacks or Leers will buff you just as well as Harden or Agility...
I love porygon, my favorite since RBY
You’ll be so happy this weekend Erico!
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon I’ve been waiting for that one ❤️
Is there a reason you didn't use Agility instead of sharpen for the 2-stage increase and easier setups for badge boost?
Hey Scott, you uploaded a second porygon video a couple days ago, but then privated it. Was there something wrong with it?
Can I beat a gen 1 game with a bulky normal type that learns thunderbolt and ice beam and recover and tri attack??? OMG stay tuned!
Still entertaining to watch though
I guess it was more “can I beat a Gen 1 game while not using BoltBeam”?
Digital Denis
TriHard attack
How are you changing the starters for Yellow? I want to do these challenges for shits and giggles but I can only find codes that work for Red and Blue. Are you doing it another way?
Program is in description
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Thank you!
Me.Psychic in Saffron for Psychic TM???
wouldn't psybeam as a special move be more effective against cloyster?
Who else had no idea porygon was in gen 1?
I always wanted to use one, but dear lord was that impossible to afford
Porygon is a Pokemon universe status symbol.
Doesn't Porygon have access to Amnesia? Anyway i think in some Gyms using Conversion could save you a lot of trouble, like Sabrina, Lt Surge, Blaine.
It does not get Amnesia
So we getting a run with Porygon 2 for Crystal? Then Porygon Z for Platinum?
