- I tried to pick and easier challenge this week so that I can keep up with making content but somehow I just couldn't resist doing a Psyduck run. So today we'll find out if this run is going to be a headache or not.

Yellow is usually way better because it is less likely to softlock a player through certain means

Amnesia Psyduck: Heresy
For future reference against Gyrados Ice beam > Surf (even with STAB)
Surf is not very effective while Ice beam is neutral- (the in game text might say otherwise but that’s one of gen 1’s bugs)
So surf is only hitting with 67.5 power vs ice beams 90.

A 'no tm' run could be actually challenging if you're looking to increase. The pidgey line gets mirror move, there could be some sweet strategy solves in that.
At least psyduck benefits from headaches cuz when he gets one he can use confusion🙃

Psyduck is one of the few water types that has trouble with fire types.
For future reference, Venomoth can be hit by dig/earthquake. It is bug/poison. Not flying.

I've noticed that you always avoid using ground type moves (earthquake,Dig) against venomouth, its poison bug type so it will hit and its defense is way less than its special.
Btw keep up the great videos.. I would like to see a Kingler only challenge since no has ever done it.

So something that I've never understood, you have a tendency to use ice beam against Onyx and Rhyhorn even though water moves are more effective. Icebeam is 2x effective because of their ground-typing while water moves would be 4x effective due to the rock and ground effectiveness, water and ice are also still special so no advantage there. While icebeam is 95 power which would make it edge out watergun, bubblebeam is 65 power so it'd be better, but here since Psyduck is a water type you're also getting STAB on water moves but not ice, so that means that while icebeam is basically a 95x2 special move, Watergun would be a 45x4x1.5 special move and Bubblebeam a 65x4x1.5 special move. I get that Giovanni is a joke either way, and ice beam is basically a must have regardless, but it just always struck me as odd how in a few challenges you go out of your way to avoid using bubblebeam on his rock/ground pokemon to use icebeam which would be weaker against them. Not that it matters too much when it's a one-hit either way and Erika early on and Lance late on make Icebeam a good addition to your moveset regardless.
Thanks for the tips. A lot of people have mentioned this to me already. I'll be using more bubblebeam vs Rock+Ground pokemon in the future.
Wait, Psyduck can learn body slam. That's way better than megapunch and and double edge. Sure, there's a 15 power gap, but no recoil pays for itself considering how many times double edge kills you. Moreover, it has a paralysis chance, which can help deal with a speed gap. I've seen that move carry many a run.

Psychic would help dealing extra damage to a few pokes in the Elite 4 like Gyarados. Not that it matters now that you beat the game but it could be helpful in future runs (you can get the TM for Psychic in Saffron City)

surf deals more dmg than confusion except if surf is resisted and confusion is super effective like against tentacool
Although against tencool you're probably still better off using a neutral physical move and it's surprising 100 base special

I know you think Venomoth is Grass/Flying ;) but it's actually Bug/Poison and its physical defense is significantly weaker than its special, so you should have been using Dig against it. Lol.

Probably should've used dig against Venomoth. Its Poison/Rock typing makes it weak to Ground. Most people forget the Rock typing, but Venomoth rocks, so it gets it.

Just wondering. Why not using Toxic on Lorelai Slowbro? Rets Toxic should be enough. And then change one for Blizzard which is more op in 1gen. And second why not use Seismic toss? I beat Lorelai in this way in gen 1 with Psyduck

Hate how you're always talking way ahead of where the video is and takes the surprise of each fight away when you say they went down to said move, yet we are 4 moves before that. Takes the excitement out. I know it's an old vid. He's done it forever and still does today. Love the vids and his personality but hate that part.
Pretty sure I don’t do that anymore… had this exact same comment in the past and I think about it while scripting now.

I've made a hundred comments on this guy's channel, all saying how good he is but sometimes they just need some feedback, from more than just the top comment. I wish he'd have noticed all my comments of praises but he gets plenty of that, it's just really reassuring when they respond NICELY to a comment that is not just praising and is more constructive criticism. It's because I'm uncomfortable with the word "derp," because it started I believe as a way to mock someone with neurological problems ("derp face") and has since been associated with the r-slur, and as an autistic person, usage of it makes me feel unsafe. If you'd consider maybe trying to phase it out of your vocabulary, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. :3
