Since people seem confused by it, every video going forward will have multiple thumbnails. Thumbnails have a huge impact on how a video performs, so having multiple options to choose and learn from is better practice. A thumbnail changing does not mean it’s bad, it just means we’re testing another option. Also it’s a way of supporting some of the talented artists within the community - if you like any of the work you see, the artists will be linked in the description of each video.
And if you want to support this channel and the 15+ people who work on it, Subscribing is a great way to help!
the one with wolfey riding miraidon on the last video was so cool tbh
Standard CZcamsr practice. So there must be a reason. Unless you’re Charlie. Who literally ships the pre-generated thumbnail. 😂 his videos are talking though not this high effort. So can’t afford bad metrics when you upload less frequently
I for one welcome our thumbnail over-lords
That’s based actually thank you!
Tera-normal Incineroar
You beat me to it by 2 minutes, well played.
Tera normal normal
Damn i wanted to say that
touché
You fast 🗿
For anyone interested, it takes a record 374 seconds for incineroar to appear in a video about the best normal type pokemon
A NEW WORLD RECORD! 391 seconds for Wolfe to mention Incineroar… haha
In the last video, it appeared as soon as 9 seconds into the video!
Give me the time stamp.

Smeargle is by far my most hated Pokémon, not just because of how broken it was. But because of what it did to darkrai :(
Justice for Darkrai :(
Your mom is my most hated Pokémon.
Yeah, nerfing Dark Void was 100% unnecessary if they were preventing Smeargle from learning it anyways
@@eRic-hr3ylit’s preparation for if there ever was a mythical legal format
@@michaelkarim57 I highly doubt they’d ever do that, they’d have to nerf multiple other mythicals even if they wanted to do that lol (in terms of how darkrai is)
dragonite is my favourite normal type! great extreme speed stab
I agree such a good damge dealer
Imo most consistently relevant in competitive probably even if not busted like Mega Kan or funnily BS like Smeargle lol
Ursaluna & Farigiraffe is still recent but is rising to become its contender though ig
Linda crazy it didn't show up at least as honorable mention
@@ccgarciab it's been good only this gen that's why
Nah Rayquaza's better 🗿
There are two types of OG's. OG's who look back and smile thinking about Snorlax's absolute domination of GSC Singles, and those who still have nightmares from facing it.
Thats my bestest chonky boi.
Snorlax gets #1 in my heart because it was so strong in gens 1 and 2. Curselax especially dominated in gen 2
It unfortunate how far lax fell. Its at least still okay in the doubles format but in singles thanks too gen 9's insane powercreep in actively recomended to not use it. Image telling someone who hasnt played pokemon since gen 2 that Azumaril is significantly better than snorlax 😢
@@justindekoning9988 I stoped playing after gen 3.5 (Bassically the pokemon gold and silver remakes. I could see power creep writing on the wall and bailed.
Plurals don't use apostrophes
8:27 rare moment where Wolfe forgets about his usual extra schtick and calls Tornadus as a normal person would
It made me roll my eyes into my skull a few vids ago when he said he doesn't do engagement bait. When I learned what that word meant my immediate reaction was "Oh, like Wolf Glick!"
I'm not exactly sure what the deep WolfeyVGC channel lore is, but the mispronunciation of names comes off less like engagement bait and more like those people who live in an American English speaking region who insist they "naturally" say things like "aluminium" the British English way
@@sampletext7127 I don't know about everyone, but some of these weird ways to say words just dead ass happen. Like I get heat sometimes because I say "Scenario" a way that's apparently British, but people started calling this out when I was as young as 6th grade (I'm 27). That specific word my whole family says it that way. I have no idea why. We all grew up in Utah, my Mom grew up in Nebraska/California, my grandparents immigrated here from Germany when they were kids and mostly grew up in Nebraska. Sometimes shit just happens lol. Shout out to us saying "Wash" like "Worsh" and "Melee" as "Meelee" as well!
@@plutigvid fair enough
@@HeckYep Mostly those are more like community in-jokes, like calling them wideos. It's an obvious joke that no one needs to argue about. When it comes to pokemon names though, there are a lot of pokemon that have no consensus on pronunciation (and even official media conflicting with itself on it) and so even if you try to pronounce everything right you'll have people running to the comments to complain. The solution is to just obviously say things wrong constantly and make it a joke.
The editor/editor team is awesome here. Maybe the best I’ve ever seen in the broader video essay genre, let alone the Pokémon sphere
Completely agree, the amount of sound effects alone in this vid is astonishing, and the tiny half seconds animations are awesome. Great job
they should get a bigger share of the revenue because they are putting in most of the work
Incineroar was first shown at 6:47 in the video about the best normal type pokemon
Just 6 min? Good for him to not say it in the first minute
surprised it took that long for him to show up
Honestly, lets congratulate Wolf for not internally screaming AND/OR crying while mentioning him
Honestly that's a huge achievement
That's a new personal best!
Not excpecting the normal type so early in the "best of a type", you must do normal's weakness next, there is no 'fighting' it

I love what Gamefreak did with some of the normal Type Pokemon like Ditto, Eevee or Smeargle. They made "normal" Pokemon have some of the most unique/non-standard strategies
I think that's a lot of what makes normal types. a lot of them have some fun gimmick or unique thing about them
But it makes sense, being versatile to an extreme isn't "normal" but what else would it be? Not an elemental category. Maybe stellar, but that didn't exist.

"We should make a bigger bear" is the best idea pokemon has had in years. I love Ursaluna to the moon and back.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention that mega khangaskan’s seismic toss just dealt 100-200 damage to everything because seismic toss ignores the 75% damage falloff from parental bond.
That thing was a menace in every way.
Seismic Toss has never been legal on Mega Kangaskhan in VGC since it was only obtainable via a gen 3 tutor or gen 1 TM (from the Virtual Console releases) and in gen 6 and 7, only Pokémon natively obtained in the current gen were allowed.

@Warlord_Megatron thanks for the heads up. I liked their comment because I love the series but fuck bots
9:38 What a great comparison between the Formes! Bloodmoon Formy has to be my favourite formie but standard Ursaluna Formey is definitely up there
I appreciate the spelling diversity
either Ursaluna works for me
Hehe "formy" made me double take when he said that 😅
Tera Normal incineror's beyond the ranking🫡.
I have to say this. The editing on this one are so funny and crisp😭 thank you for your hard work
Before it starts I’m guessing smeargle at 1 0:31
i have to agree
Would it not be Arceus?
@@Bigpapa830competitive arceus isn’t allowed as it’s a mythic Pokémon
he did best gen 2 pokemon and another normal type gen 2 was above smeargle in the rankings, so it can't be smeargle
Definitely top 3 with Mega Kangaskan, at least top 5
Perfect timing! I've been binge watching your (slightly older) tournament videos for the past few hours while working on breeding IVs, natures, etc. on my collection of rare ball mons.
The narration is enough to keep me going for several hours without getting too bored with my somewhat monotone task. :)
Edit: Ursaluna (regular formee) technically has access to Belly Drum as an egg move... it's just not used *that* often.
34:31
"Hey mum! The funny Wolfe man talked about me in a video!"
Speaking of Eevee I do believe there was this one tournament that someone won by timer stalling while using Celebrate (normal, not Z-Celebrate) because it had a really long animation
What a strategy lmao, I believe I remember hearing someone whine about that a long time ago.

A lot of people make fun of Wolfey for his pronunciation of Pokémon names and while sometimes it makes sense, they’re normally pretty simple, at the end of the day they are fake words even if they’re made out of real ones so it’s not that big of a deal
I’m more interested in why he reads “form” in the British spelling “forme” and why he pronounces the e in it
Why have e if not meant to be pronounced?
@@GravityIsFallingThe same reason "why" doesn't have the Wh part pronounced... I don't know
@@GravityIsFalling Because English is by far the worst language in the world
Official Pokémon materials have used "forme" for quite a few alternate forms, such as Shaymin's Land Forme and Sky Forme (even though the word "forme" only has one definition and it's related to materials used for printing). These days, they've used "form" more, such as for Terapagos' Terastal Form and Stellar Form.

Yeah if we're going by the most busted then there's really no other answer. It's the mega with an ability that can make most pokemon straight up a menace!
It's in the thumbnail, so great detective work
If you played that gen then you knew it had to be 1.

0:20 Those words are always beautiful to hear, but the phrase at 0:23 is the icing on the cake. Magnificent
26:47
Small correction. Adaptability increases stab by 33%, not 50%
39:04 ursaluna DOES get access to belly drum, it's just that the flame orb facade build is much easier to play with.
Best normal pokemon is Ditto using Transform on Incineroar
“oh cool, a quick Wolf video while i eat!”
I adore your thumbnail's artstyle they are always so vibrant and gorgeous
Normal is by far my favorite type. It allows for the most diversity in terms of design. A simple rat? Sure! A digital duck? Why not! A titan colossus? Hell yeah!

Bro is gonna try and use mega Kangaskhan in gen 9
Porygon Z was a Pokémon I didn’t care much about until he made the leap into 3D, one of the very extreme few who seemed to prosper in 3D over sprite form. I was working one day (maintenance) and had some time to kill, XY was brand new and out for like a couple of months, I finally got my hands on a Porygon Z, I had to step away during a battle and when I returned as the camera was shifting between Pokemon, I saw him spazzing out. I immediately loved him since. Sword and Shield let us have him wander behind us and it was even better!
Female Indeedee was one of the few legit shinies I got from a den I stumbled across and because she’s such a great support pokemon, I had to use her more and more.
I’m so glad Farigiraf earned a spot on this list, I’ve been shilling them since the very beginning of SV. While everyone else was using Indeedee+Armarouge (ew) I was like “Nah, Farigiraf+Hariyama/Iron Hands is the way.” A properly built Farigiraf with a Mental Herb has no way of being stopped setting up Trick Room outside of Spore and it was especially great when Iron Hands became legal cause running Pinchurcin electric terrain solved that problem, actually winning a regional that series.
Clefairy and eevee staring down a competitive team is fucking hilarious.
Tera-Normal Incineroar
39:07 Wolfey, Ursaluna DOES get Belly Drum as an egg move. In order to get it, have a Belly Drum user (like Snorlax or Zangoose) Mirror Herb the move (in ScarVio) or have it breed with Ursa (in other gens). It applies to both normal and bloodmoon.

Kanga was always my favorite mega when I played sun and moon casually, because it was one of my gen 1 faves and I was excited to actually have a chance to use it, and I had a ton of fun ripping through the battle tree with it. It's deeply validating looking back and learning how absolutely cracked it was competitively.
