NHTSA New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) Side Moving Deformable Barrier Impact: Crash test dummies representing an average-sized adult male and a small-sized adult female are placed in the driver and rear passenger seats (driver's side), respectively, and are secured with seat belts. The side crash rating represents an intersection-type collision by having a 3,015 pound (1367kg) barrier moving at 38.5 mph (62km/h) into a standing vehicle. The moving barrier is covered with material that is crushable to replicate the front of a vehicle. 1 star is the lowest rating; 5 stars is the highest. More stars equal safer cars.
    Overall Rating: 5-Star
    Overall Front Star Rating: 4-Star
    Front Driver Side: 5-Star
    Front Passenger Side: 4-Star
    Overall Side Star Rating: 5-Star
Combined Side Barrier and Pole Ratings (Front Seat): 5-Star
Combined Side Barrier and Pole Ratings (Rear Seat): 4-Star
    Side Barrier Rating: 5-Star
    Side Barrier (Driver): 5-Star
    Side Barrier (Rear Passenger): 4-Star
    Rollover Star Rating: 5-Star
The rollover rating measures the risk of rollover in a single-vehicle, loss-of-control scenario.

Frontal impact, no fire. Side impact, no fire. What is Tesla doing wrong?

Did you even compare this crash test to a Tesla model 3 before you made your assumption. The Bolt driver and passenger door on this test seem to almost give way now compare that to thr Model 3 also look at the way the driver head hit the side pillar. TESLA MODEL 3 gets 5-star in all category.
