The heart of the matter is that Dooku had already mastered the basic, intermediate and some of the advanced skills of the Dark Side on his own, so the remainder is Sith knowledge no Sith Master is willing to share. It is the very knowledge that the apprentice hungers for. Moreover, Dooku was a very different apprentice, not only was he second only to Yoda in terms of Force knowledge in the Light, but was already an advanced Dark Side student. For 50 years, from the time he became a Knight, to meeting Sidious, he had learned from the Sith Holocrons in the Temple, and then after he left the Order he truly immersed himself in Sith Holocrons and texts, gathered from every corner of the Galaxy. He mastered Dark Side disciplines, like Force Lightning, and Force Subjugation and mind-ripping techniques before working with the Sith. I forget which book, but when Dooku first became Sidious' apprentice, Palpatine was surprised how much Dooku already knew. So, long-story short, Sidious had to be VERY careful with Dooku as a rival who already knew too much, and who Sidious was sharing too much power with already. Giving Dooku the remainder of the Dark Side knowledge would undoubtedly have resulted in Dooku openly challenging Sidious. Sidious was already aware of Dooku's prowess against Yoda and understood well that the modest gap between Sidious and Dooku in power, and that arming someone with already Grand Master level of Jedi knowledge with the advanced Sith knowledge is tantamount to committing suicide.

I think Sidious realized that if he taught Dooku too much, there was a very real risk not just of his power increasing beyond control but also of Dooku being shocked out of his delusions. Dooku believed, among other things, that when he and Sidious took over the galaxy Dooku would be allowed to create a new Jedi Order that blended the teachings of dark and light, but a true understanding of the nature and history of the Dark Side would've shattered this and many of Dooku's other twisted-but-lingering ideals. Dooku was, at his heart, a reformer -- at least, that's how he saw himself. However, the hierarchy of power demanded by the Dark Side would've cast down so much of what he wanted to accomplish. Had Dooku known, it's likely he would've turned on Sidious... and been powerful enough to succeed, potentially.

Yea, and it was obvious he treated Anakin MUCH differently than Dooku. In Legends it was made clear that Sidious only used Dooku to spit on, spank, choke, burn with light bulbs/cigarettes, etc.. and humiliate while getting banged out on the filthy tile floor of his executive bathroom. Whereas, a towel was always laid on the floor for Anakin and although never being allowed to "pitch" and smash out Sidious either, Anakin was rewarded with the rank/name of 'Dark General Powerbottom' and didn't have to just lay there and take Sidious' hammering. The rank of 'Dark General Powerbottom' afforded Anakin the freedom to thrust his young prison pussy back into any of Sidious' crazed strokes, unlike Dooku who had to just lay there and take it. Anakin was rarely spit on, spanked or burned, but he almost always requested to be choked and when Sidious inevitably lost his erection (usually numerous times) while still crushing that force sensitive ass, he never blamed Anakin or beat and/or verbally and physically abused him in embarrassing ways the way he did Dooku..... its pretty obvious Sidious saw Anakin as an apprentice and Dooku as just a hole for relieving stress and rage.... never to be given too much.... except, you know...... abuse, humiliation and vicious sexual jackhammering

Whats crazy is the fact Dooku and Sidious were nearly equals with each other in terms of power, knowledge, wisdom, and experience but nevertheless was never meant to be permanent apprentice which i find still mind baffling cuz unlike Vader or Maul Dooku was wiser, older, experienced, skilled and unique and was far more disciplined and focused than either Vader and Maul, what separates Dooku from the other apprentices is that he never joined the Sith for the sake of personal vendettas or trying to save loved ones but for a cause and establishment

    • @krel3358

Thats because at his core Sidious is a bad sith Lord because he is filled with lust and greed to the point that he killed his own master too soon just because he had an opportunity to do so and then never outshone his own master so he ensured that no one would outshine him. His only real wisdom is in placing boxes of illusions around people so that they could never see what he was actually doing. I mean for all intents and purposes Sidious is just a master thief who is exceptionally good at administrating and controlling his stolen knowledge. In this sense Palpatine could never defeat someone who was as skilled or as powerful as himself because he heavily relied on hamstringing people through various tricks in order to give himself an advantage rather than just out right being more skilled or proficient, hes like a bully who only picks fights with people he knows are smaller than he is. Its why he genuinely panics when confronted by Yoda because he knows he has a chance of losing.

Dooku was already a Master before his turn and he trained himself, having his own access to Sith Lore even before his turn as well
There was little Sidious to train him, and of course Sidious was wary of Dooku especially after being able to take on Yoda in a saber duel, so it was wise to attempt to limit Dooku’s knowledge, even as Dooku fulfilled his potential at his own pace

Pretty much. The only thing left Sidious could teach him was the true A-Level stuff on Sith Alchemy and other esoterica. However, that knowledge is what the Sith Master is supposed to withhold because once he gives up that last trump card there is no reason for the Apprentice to not kill him. Dooku had already mastered the basic, intermediate and even advanced Dark Side stuff through his own learning of 60 years of studying the Sith holocrons and other texts. Added to that is Dooku's mastery of the Light Side, second only to Yoda, and there sits a very powerful and dangerous Force User. Honestly, he might have been the most balanced Force User of the era. No one but him had dual mastery.

Honestly, I think that Sidious feared Dooku. Dooku was able to come far in the Dark Side even without really being affected by it and remaining true to both his character and his ideals. He was essentially a Jedi who used the Dark Side. That he was able to do this while being just as skilled and powerful in the Dark as a Darth probably downright disturbed Palpatine. That power with that control is something to be feared. And that was when taught only a little. If taught properly, his mastery of the Force would probably have been so potent as to make Palpatine's strength in the Force irrelevant in they fought.

Probably for the same reason Sidious never sparred with Dooku: Sidious had to maintain the credibility of his being superior. Dooku was already too advanced in the Force as a Jedi, and in the Dark Side due to his own learning, for Sidious' liking. Dooku was already the superior swordsman. Giving him the remainder of the Sith knowledge would make Dooku far too dangerous. A being who is the master of both Light and Dark to the highest degree is an exceptionally dangerous person. As it is, Dooku was too much of a rival as it was. Sidious preferred Maul and Vader as apprentices because he knew they could never credibly overthrow him because there was too much of a knowledge deficit. Sidious tought Dooku basic dark side techiques. Some philosophy, teachings. Basics. It's'extremelly smart of Sidious to do this. He didn't reveal Dooku everything. He didn't want him to become more powerful. He feared Dooku. His power. Dooku was immensely powerful Jedi, and extremely smart. I think Labyrinth of Evil is canon. May the Force be with you too😊

Considering what we know about Sidious he doomed the Sith similar to Darth Krayt. If the Sith were to survive he needed to pass on what he knew to Vader. I wonder whose methodology held out the best in terms of the Sith when you compare them all. I see the value of the rule of two but if ever the master either dies or turns to the light the line fails. The Sith having numbers they result in fighting and become weaker due to masters withholding power and abilities being lost. This does make me want to play SWTOR.

Dooku always felt shoehorned into Attack of the Clones IMO. Also Dooku's motives never really aligned with his actions. Dooku left the Order because he felt that the Jedi should not be on call to the Growingly ever corrupted Senate and Republic. Dooku then aligns himself with the very person that injected the Corruption into Senate and Republic! The Character of Dooku was Masterfully portrayed by Christopher Lee but (in the films ) the Character always felt like a place holder (not for Vader).

Sidious also said that he kept Plagueis alive so that he could learn as much as he could and in the end he didn't achieve the same level of midichlorian manipulation.
Every sith must follow their own path and even if they have access to knowledge there is no guarantee they will learn.

Not to mention by any standards Dooku wasnt exactly in physical shape anymore in intensive training anyways. Not really needing it either being combat legendary already an having lil use for it. An this is glossing over the obvious that one only invests in something... or someone temporary only as much as needed. Not to mention if he was to succeed in the "Trojan " strategm Dooku NEVER originally intended to ne a dark High lord either way anyways ironically

It duzent surprise me in the slightest. Sidious played Dooku for a fool from the very beginning. With the loss of his first apprentice, Maul, and with the prize prospective pupil in Anakin Skywalker being too young at the time, Sidious needed a capable agent to serve as his "student" until the time was right. Dooku was indeed a Dark Lord of the Sith, but he was never meant to be the Dark Lord _and_ Master. He was only ever a placeholder and eventually a patsy to be the "fall guy" along with the rest of the Jedi Order once Sidious gave the order for the clones to execute Order 66
So he baited Dooku, giving him a taste of the true power of the Dark Side and then stoked the flames of passion and rage that spurred Dooku towards the goal of correcting the galaxy and the Force itself. It was enough, and Dooku fell for it all, hook, line and sinker. Twice he considered overthrowing his master with an apprentice of his own, but Ventress and Savage both turned out to be lost causes, and so Dooku tried instead to secure his place in Sidious's grand scheme, but his place had never been anything more than a pawn. A useful pawn, but a pawn nonetheless, and he didn't realize that until it was far too late, when Sidious, as Palpatine, gave Anakin the order to kill Dooku, and that moment of realization left Dooku so speechless and shaken that he couldn't utter so much as a single word before Anakin took his head

    • @matthewmann8969
      @matthewmann8969 Před 6 měsíci +1

In Legends not Canon Maul was not meant to ever be more then a tool to Sidious either based on most statements even before the discovery of Dooku And Anakin Maul was meant to be a valuable attack dog although a more favored one compared to Asajj, Grievous, Durge, Quinlan, and others Sids had Dooku in mind even before Maul got defeated on Naboo to be at his side most likely demoting Maul to a lower rank and promoting Dooku to a higher rank after all in Legends according to Plagueis Dooku had a higher potential then Maul did as well as a similar background to his and a high IQ and was known to be a masterful duelist with the force and lightsaber combat being a close second to Yoda with the force and a close second to Yoda with a blade with Mace either being Dookus equal or slight inferior in TPM Era. Think about it Yoda saw greater potential in Dooku then he did in Mace which is one of the reasons Yoda took Dooku as his final student and not Mace while Anakin was despite his higher potential then Yodas own was too old when he went to the order. Also Plagueis saw Maul as only a skilled and powerful assassin while he saw Dooku who was still a Jedi at the time as a insurance apprentice if Sidious was either crippled badly, imprisoned in a high tech high profiled Jedi Prison, Or Killed outright so that shows that while Plagueis saw Sids as having more potential then Dooku as long as none of those things happened to Sids he saw Dooku as having more potency then Maul as long as Dooku did not either become handicapped hugely, imprisoned in a Jedi Holding High Radar Cell, Or Died. So Dookus midichlorian count was pretty high based off the words of Yoda, Plagueis, And even Sidious not saying Mauls wasn't but Dookus was on another level yeah.

Holding back information, skills and abilities is what all True Sith Masters do. That's part of being a Sith Master. So what are you talking about?
It's the Duty of a Sith Apprentice under The Rule Of 2 to learn just enough to be a Sith, then somehow kill their Master to become the Master and create their own New Abilities plus take on their own Apprentice.
On the other hand it's the Duty Of A Sith Master to hold their Apprentice back and only teach the Apprentice enough to be a True Sith, but never the New Abilities they came up with themselves because they won't be killed by their Apprentice. It's also their duty to upgrade to another Sith Apprentice if one come along more powerful then the one they have.
So Plagueis held abilities and information back from Sidious no different than Plagueis Master done to him.
The True Jedi Knights is the ones who teach their Padawans everything they know in hope they one day surpass them

The reality is that by the special editions the original star wars was too good and he needed to downgrade the movie a little bit to make empire strikes back look better. He did this by adding terrible scenes, ruining iconic ones and destroying the coloring. Before 1997 most people only proffered the original star wars and now its the other way around, and you have a trilogy now that peaks in the middle, which is better for the series as a whole.

It truly lets you know that Pelagius and Sidious were fearful of training certain Jedi. They had been working on Dooku for 10 or more years prior to Phantom Menace. Dooku was already growing weary with the Jedi and them being lap dogs of the Republic Senate and not serving the people in the galaxy. The fact is Dooku, Maul and Anakin were all easily manipulated by Pelagius and Sidious! They would never try to turn Yoda! He was to old, to powerful and not easily manipulated. The same goes for Windu. Windu would have been the logic choice! However, Windu was to powerful too and you couldn't manipulate Windu like they did Dooku, Maul and Anakin. Windu quickly after embracing the darkside, he would be able to be controlled by them. It would only a matter of time, Windu would be trying to kill Sidious!

Pretty much. Yoda and Windu were so steeped in Jedi dogma that it was basically impossible to turn them. Though if I had to choose who'd be easier to turn between Yoda and Windu, I think Windu, with some carefully plotted incentives, could have been turned, but its still pretty unlikely. Its kinda sunny that the one's who were most aware of the jedi order's worst flaws were the easiest to turn. Fanatical blind faith is its own weird kind of strength.
