Stupendous, Yoda proved himself to be the superior lightsaber combatant. Sidious realized this terrifying(for him) reality and fell back on his force powers. And even when summoning the full strength of his force powers, he only managed something of a stalemate. You can't even call it a proper, decisive stalemate. Yoda lost his lightsaber during the fight and after getting up from falling from such a height, though he was in pain, he realized it was pointless to continue engaging Sidious in combat because the clones were making their way into the chamber and because he felt Sidious succeeded in his overall plan to defeat the Jedi as a whole. Yoda was wise to retreat. 👌💯

He was certainly wary of Dooku, its probably part of why he tried to teach Dooku only the bare minimum about the dark side since it wouldn't do for his place holder apprentice to get too powerful and become a potential problem down the road. Plus Sidious respected Dooku's lightsaber skills in so far as he could respect any dualist given his general disdain for lightsaber dueling as a whole; which really is quite the compliment given the Sidious was also bloody good with lightsabers despite his general disdain for them.

@persuasivebarrier2419 bruh, that's common knowledge at this point. Look at Dooku's eyes, they were never yellow (except in clone wars for like one episode). The reason he left also wasn't to do with the Jedi not wanting to hunt down the sith. He was sick of the jedi being the Republic's guard dogs and felt like the jedi lost their way (he was right) and in legends, qui gons death was what caused him to finally snap and leave, in disney Canon he ended up doing something bad (not spoiling) then leaving before qui gon died

People are forgetting that Yoda ended up contributing to Palpatines ultimate defeat via Vader/Luke later on. He didn't kill him right then and there, but retreating let him help take over looking after Luke after Obi-Wan's death and eventually "won the war" so to speak. That very possibility is exactly why Palpatine had "kill all jedi" as such a high priority and why even after he took over he spent so much time dedicated towards hunting down any and all survivors.

Lucas says Yoda has the better of him, which is why Sidious decided to stop dueling, while using the senate seats.
It’s all stupid, because Yoda throws his lightning back, like it was simple for him, and Sidious has fear on his face, after the push.
Yoda not having any force ability to use, aside from force pushing, when in combat, is why Jedi like him, who would be equal to Sidious, usually lose.
I always mention how stupid it was that Yoda didn’t take a team to just use to force on Grievous, after we’re told and shown how many Jedi he’s killing. They act like he’s such a problem, and Dooku was the only other main leader, in the prequels.
George hadn’t written about inquisitors, and he had never read the old books, so Yoda really drops the ball. Then Mace waltzes in to meet the first Sith a Jedi has seen in how many years? One who was powerful enough to block them sensing him, and even supporting his positions, his place, until it was too late.
Why didn’t he bring a hundred Jedi? Arrogance, and to justify George’s writing shortcomings, someone else later writes about how Windu gets off on killing evil beings. So, he just couldn’t help himself, especially with the other guy, someone wrote as maybe near Mace, Dooku and Yoda level, with a Saber, and also has Mace’s fetish for slaying evil. Palpy just jumps right at him and kills him immediately, as they all watch. We see Yoda going so fast it’s hard to keep up, but Sidious looks like bullet time in comparison, yet he still takes them out without us even really seeing the strikes. Poorly choreographed, especially with what they didn’t use, being filmed. Someone wrote why that scene looked like that later too.
Palpatine did his “your scared stuff” force attack, of course.
So, if you don’t think Yoda was at least equaling him; I’d wager you buy the idea Sidious was letting Mace win? Even though stupid Mace could’ve ended it right there, the ultimate evil, that he often has trouble not slaying half as evil as being, but not at that point, so he’s bringing him in. Who cares that he just killed four council members? 😆
*I’m sorry, i totally misread your comment. 😩 I read it as you think he beat Yoda…

@@CorbCorbinpalpy lost the lightsaber battle, but he won in terms of force power/stamina. Using the force requires a lot of energy. Which is why the sith use rage as fuel. Rage increases their adrenaline, which gives them the will necessary to continually use the force. Yoda was alive for a long time, but followed the Jedi way of not allowing emotions to influence him. So while he was as strong as palpatine force wise, he would not give into his emotions to gain power, unlike palpatine. Thus he could not sustain the fight for a prolonged period. Also, palpatine did not move nearly as much as Yoda did during the lightsaber duel. And those movements all require usage of the force.

You also have to understand too that after their duel sidious also gained a huge fear of ever facing dooku in light saber combat, he feared him and his blade work and said in novels and comics, both legends and cannon that dooku was superior to him with the blade, but that sidious himself was leagues ahead in the force and that is where he will keep dooku at bay. Plaguies also said dooku even though he is older would beat sidious but not himself as plaguies despite completely hating the lightsaber, was a prodigy, a ultra master with it. He only knew how to use it because his own master believed firmly that light saber combat needed to be perfected too since the Jedi rely on the saber. Plaguies defeated the guy who his own master trained to counter everything plaguies knew, to counter all his combat and force abilities down to the T, but yet for plaguies to easily beat his own master and then playfully wipe the floor with the second guy his master trained to kill plaguies shows his skill. Plaguies hated the saber and believed the force is where the south’s true power lies, which sidious got that mentality too. If plaguies could, he’d completely make the use of the blade among the sith illegal more or less but he knew his adversaries relied on them so he taught sidious all he knew. Sidious dared not to even raise his sword to his master, he said it himself in legends and cannon novels. He knew his master would squash him with the sword and at that time the force too, so he killed him in his sleep. If plaguies said dooku would beat sidious and sidious knew it as well, it shows how good dooku was. In the novel the fight was explained more thoroughly but dooku stalemated yoda, neither gaining the upper hand, but dooku had to leave as he felt reinforcements arriving to help, so he had no choice but to leave. And if that doesn’t tell you he’s good, George Lucas has him above sidious on his list of best duelist in Star Wars History, with Vader standing number 1. After their duel, sidious gained respect and fear for both of them

@@wabbbbaaaaaafeeettt9160 George Lucas himself has dooku above yoda, sidious and windu on his list of best duelist in Star war and Disney kept his list as it was easier then making a new one and it made most sense. Sidious in the novel stated himself that dooku was greater than anyone with the sword and that dooku was better than him but sidious was better with the force and dooku knew that. Dooku would walk sidious in light saber combat as in the ATC novel which is legends and cannon since both Lucas and Disney say it’s the best interpretation states that yoda said dooku would have won if their fight continued and that he only ran after both him and yoda sensed padme and clones coming in. If yoda acknowledged dooku would win and yoda even said after their duel that no Jedi should face dooku in solo combat if they can, if not try your best not to die as dooku would “best any Jedi in the order in solo combat”. Yoda beat sidious in the dueling, and dooku was besting yoda and at one point in the novel, playing with him. And yoda uses the force heavily during combat, dooku doesn’t because he’s prideful of his prowess with the blade. If he used the force, no one could beat him id say. If dooku was beating yoda who bested sidious with the blade, then dooku would best sidious hands down, and both sidious and plaguies said dooku would best sidious. Plaguies was better than sidious with the blade, he was astoundingly good despite hating the damn things 😂 plaguies’ master tenbrous prioritizes dueling, why do you think sidious killed his master in his sleep. Sidious knew to touch blades would be suicide, during light saber training he feared his master would kill him for the fun of it. He also feared to touch his master with the force so he killed him in his sleep. If plaguies who himself killed Jedi masters with ease at a young age and then hid their remains from the Jedi said dooku would best sidious, then dooku would. He said a big reason dooku would is because dooku was not held tightly by the code, which is where qui gon learned his rule breaking style from 😂 dooku was not afraid to kill someone. If he perceived you as an enemy, he will go for the kill instead of disarming like other Jedi would

@ahmadag1820 Recruitment and age requirement training policy didn't cause the Jedi Order to fall. Anakin was able to be trained, after all. Two centuries of stagnation and near-indifference towards the potential of the Sith had more of a hand than that. Yoda's choices, arrogance, and age made it to where other Masters, even on the High Council, weren't inclined to disagree with him. That's part of why Qui Gon turned down a Council position and part of why Mace Windu was chosen for one over Dooku. It had all become politics, and Yoda not only allowed it to happen but encouraged it. Yoda believed that he couldn't fall and that he was right. It didn't help that he was surrounded by other Jedi Masters constantly praising him, but his failure as a Jedi resonated through the generations of Jedi he taught. Look into what Yoda saw when he went into the Cave of Evil somewhat early into his exile on Dagobah. Couple that with when he fought his own darkside self, and you'll see that he came to understand the magnitude of his failure and how it shaped the fall of the Jedi Order.

He had very little practise compared to the jedi nor reason to use it. incredibly gifted in the force, cunning and knowledgable. sure. even great at a specific, rare lightsaber form but mastery in all forms of the blade never made sense. It also makes sense that he loses to Yoda and Anakin who were gifted warriors who also saw a lot of combat. Yoda not that much but definetly way more than Sidious who had other stuff to do.

I still failed to understand why my perspective is so much different from what I commonly hear from the Star Wars community in CZcams when commenting about the battle at the senate between Yoda and Palpatine. From what I saw Yoda not only defeated Sidious in the light saber duel but with the force as well. Yoda not only rejected and made Palpatine fly away with the senate seats thrown by Sidious who had the advantage of gravity and spinning (obviously because he was running from Yoda trying to put distance between them) but catch and pushed back the amazing force lighting punch from Sidious. Did that last parts played wrong against Yoda due to his size and poor standing? did Yoda decided not to keep fighting because he finally understood that instead of searching for peace he was drawn to war and violence? That I guess is up to each individual's conclusion. But to me, as for the fight alone, I really don't see a single time in which Yoda was over powered by Sidious.

I disagree that Dukoo's style was designed for demoralization, I do not believe that he would be so foolish as to do something like that. It is most likely that his style, is instead designed to leave no possibility of a lucky hit ending his career. There are a good many stories of great swordsmen, being defeated by less skilled opponents because they were reckless with a blade, and did things no true swordsman would do. Such as taking a chance of being stabbed straight in the chest, in order to hit your enemy. Dukoo of course knows about this, and does everything he can in a fight to make it impossible for anyone but him to win.

I don’t really believe that Palpatine was superior in the Force, at least not in terms of achieving a higher level of mastery in any specific skill. From where I stand, he had two things that Yoda didn’t have: the first was offensive Force attacks, which the Jedi can’t have, because the use of Force lightning requires hate. Yoda had Force-based telekinesis and tutaminis, but Force pushing doesn’t really end a fight, and tutaminis is a defensive technique. So, the only real offense the Jedi have is the lightsaber. That’s why, even when Yoda one-upped Palpatine by spinning a senate pod, he only did it to close the distance. As soon as he was back in front of Palpatine, he whipped his lightsaber back out.
The other advantage Palpatine had was time. He wasn’t able to kill Yoda, but he didn’t have to. All he had to do was survive until reinforcements arrived.
