  • We had a blast at the produce auction in Windsor, MO last week. If you have never been to one you should see if there are any in your area. It is well worth a drive. I had friends come over and help me shuck corn and peel peaches. It was a blast. I ended up with lots of canned food for the #everybitcountschallenge I am doing right now.
We also went back to Lilac lane and bought some jars and other items we needed. I priced some things I was looking into for a future trip. We also got some raw cow milk that was just as much fun to get as it is to have. I will make some butter and yogurt with this. I forgot to tell you it was only $4 a gallon! Yes...$4 a gallon!
Thanks so much for watching and I hope you have a blessed week. Follow me through the Every Bit Counts Challenge!

WOW interesting! The minute I saw the spoons I knew why - get into the jars and on top of that there is no stupid painted marking that wipes off and then you're not sure what measure you have -excellent product. I've made yogurt once from whole milk and it turned out great - overnight wrapped in a blanket. Will you freeze the cream portion? Having that much corn is a real blessing. But I got no tomatoes nor cukes this year so they are a blessing, also. Who would have thunk it? What a year but thank God for the great stuff I did get and what I learned. Need electric fence, need more mulch, need irrigation, need shade cloth. Lots of learning. How wonderful your shelves will look once you are done. Exciting for sure.

Oh my yes…so much learning for me too. I don’t think we ever stop learning as gardeners. I’m sorry about you not getting tomatoes or cucumbers hopefully next year will be a completely different story! I’m having to rearrange several closets to have enough storage for all of those jars but I’m excited about it! 😁

What a fun outing! I must say, however, that prices have gone up at the auction....as have everything🙄. You and Mark always have such great excursions. So glad you were able to go!

Yes Tina, it is crazy how prices have gone up! We had a great time though, I’m hoping to return in the fall to get some apples. I hope you are doing well!

@@OpenHandFarm If you want a tag along this Fall, just holler ❤️. BTW, Tipton,MO has some great bulk food stores, Morgan County Seeds, fabric stores, etc., along with a wonderful family-owned restaurant near Morgan County Seeds( really delish!) Additionally, at Top Stitch Sewing, you can get you sewing machine cleaned and serviced for $60...half of what shops in KC charge.

Just found you today. I have a bunch of family that live in and near Windsor, but haven't been able to go for a while. One cousin lived just north east of the auction, the Mast family(the greenhouse family) has a large group of relatives who live near me. The Lilac Lane store is a great place to get anything related to kerosene lamps, love it!!!

Debra, this is so cool! I went to the greenhouse after we left the milk farm. They had so many beautiful flowers! I am so glad you found us!!! Thank you for commenting and sharing a little about yourself!

One cousin worked for a man from Cole Camp. They used to go over about every couple of months to the discount grocery and a bulk store there, they usually had almost a pickup load.

It would really be nice to know the prices at the produce auction and how the price compares to store bought or farmers markets?

OK, he said to follow Google map to Kuntry Bulk Grocery. From there, go east another 1/4 mile or so to Amish School Road. Turn right and go to the end. You will see the houses and shop and keep going to the barn. Have fun!

@@OpenHandFarm Thanks so much, Penny! We used to get raw milk from a local Mennonite family, but their girls are dried up presently, with no milk until November 😭
