Viewer Question:
Byron Ghabour - Hey John. Thank you for the fantastic ConemaCon Coverage. It was easily the best out of any company big or small. Anyway, I was surprised to see The Bad Guys won the weekend box office, but did you see that EEAAO continues to climb and made MORE money on it’s sixth weekend than it did in it’s opening weekend. Have you ever seen anything like that before? How does something like this happen?

Everyone please see this movie! See it again if you already have.
They are playing it in more IMAX screens now. They didn't gave the IMAX option when the movie dropped a month ago. I wish John and his crew took into account all these extraneous factors!
@@nikitamohanan2124 it’s just imax there’s nothing else
I'll agree. This is film for moms an extravaganza on Mother's Day 👍👍 I'll advise check out!
Me in Europe: “I can watch it in like two to three weeks. Maybe.”
@@edriesgardezi2563 Ya right now they switched from the regular 2D screenings to only IMAX now. I watched it twice already in the regular format but glad to know they recovered their costs and are making profits. Hopefully this can survive in theaters against Doctor Strange multiverse of madness which is getting shockingly mixed reviews because of the horror elements and violence in it. So I guess that makes EEATO the best reviewed and rated film of 2022 this year STILL which is cool and so deserved.
Everything Everywhere All At Once releases on May 13th in India , can’t wait to see in theatres here, so pumped and hyped.
Thanks for letting me know bruh!!! I wasn't even gonna google it cuz I thought there's no way it was gonna release in India
Everything Everywhere is a phenomenal movie. It’s refreshing to watch a movie that isn’t a remake,a superhero movie or a sequel.
EEAAO (Everything Everywhere All At Once) is really a good movie. I was happy to be part of it by purchasing a ticket and watching it on my local theatre.
So glad movies like this are succeeding. Original film needs to survive!
I'm not sure if everyone else spotted that Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh) was already in a multiverse of sorts when the movie started because she is constantly switching from Mandarin (with Waymond), Cantonese (Gong Gong) and English (Joy), much of the time mid-sentence. I mentioned this to the friend I dragged in to see it and she had no idea. I've seen it 3 times and I might go a 4th.
I just saw this movie today and I love it, definitely we’ll watch it again
Man I can’t wait for everything to drop in uk, been avoiding spoiler reviews now for ages been busting to see it since seeing the trailer 8 months ago
Watched it again with my brother and friend. The theater was more packed this weekend then it was opening weekend.
Everything everywhere at once was an awesome movie very enjoyable and different
Movie of the year!
Hey John Sonic 2 Set The Record For The Highest Grossing Video Game Movie Of All Time Domestically .
I fucking love this movie, and I didn't expect to love it this much. Michelle should be nominated and the girl who played the daughter, too. And btw, we watched it Sunday and the theater was almost full despite the movie has been out for so long.
Word of mouth, for sure, and it helps that it’s a fantastic movie
John and the crew seem to have totally missed that A24 gave this movie was a very limited, like 50 screen, release when he saw it months ago. Then they added like another 100 after a month and it's only been a true national release for the past couple weeks. I only know bc I researched it back when he first started talking about how good it is, and I couldn't find it anywhere near me.
Ok now they get it, but early on he was stunned the movie wasn't doing better, and in was yelling at my screen, "because we can't all go see it yet"
This reminds me of when L.A. Confidential hit the cinemas. Word of mouth did the same, if not something similar, for that film as well.
I remember that movie. My 11th grade English teacher was really buzzing about it, so me and a couple of my classmates went out to go see it that weekend. I doubt any of us teens would have paid to see it if not for our teacher, a cool Irish American guy. Word of mouth works.
@@deltablueprint3186 Yep, that film stayed in the cinemas an incredibly long time due to word of mouth alone.
I'm happy, the movie deserves every bit of success it gets
Love the new studio John!
I wanted too see this movie, after all the positive reviews I've seen, but no cinema near me is showing the film and I have to wait until it goes to streaming. 😢
It is always good to see a great movie do well.
I like the blue lighting in the background. 👌
AMC had this on imax over the weekend and it looks to be playing at mine till Dr strange is out.. so I definitely would love to watch it a second time in that large format :D absolutely favorite film of the year hands down
Titanic made more $ on its 5th weekend then it did on its 1st weekend.
Rob's mic is quite a bit quieter than everyone else. New set is looking pretty good. just need to treat the room acoustically as I can hear quite a bit of it.
this will end up being the best multiverse movie this year. terrific movie
I want to see this movie, but the local theater doesn't have it and I'm too lazy to drive across town.
Saw this on Saturday afternoon to an almost sold out showing. Was surprised about that. The crowd had alot of fun and laughing at the weirdness of it all.
Finally was able to see it yesterday hands down one of the best movie I've seen in awhile
“Have you ever seen anything like that before?”
Scream.
John said The Bad Guys has made 40 mil worldwide so far. Actually it's made 44 mil domestic and 119 mil worldwide so far after 2nd weekend in release
I want to watch Everything everywhere all at once, but it is not showing here. I hope it will get picked up for distribution, but if it does not it will be streaming for me.
I remember in 'Intro to International Business' we had to do a sim over the course of a few weeks. The class mates I was competing with spent tons on advertising while I relied on a smaller amount and word of mouth - I was back in black well before them, then just straight off and running. Same thing with the pizza place I helped open. You even look at the drop offs week to week in films - those drop offs that are lower are people who may have hesitated hearing from people they actually know or trust - not the typical critics the movies flash on screen in their ads - that the film is good or enjoyable if not both. The mega-blockbusters - your Star Wars, MCU, DC, Etc, could likely spend less on advertising (I don't know that Deadpool spent a ton and look how well it did) then they do where they just carpet bomb everything with just straight up quality films and just enough ads to let people know 'hey, it's coming out' instead of 'I have seen this ad 30 times today alone please just come out so I can stop seeing it'. Because an ad is going to let people know it's coming for those already interested, and can generate interest from others or turn them on or off the film. But typically the ones on the fence - are waiting on someone they know to see it, or some online reviewer they typically agree with, or even someone like you when you guys do the just out of the theatre reactions.
There will always be debate among people how much word of mouth impacts things like this. Bottom line is that you need good word of mouth cause it can cancel out all the advertising in the world. To quote Jack Nicholson's Joker - "And now, folks, it's time for "Who do you trust!" Hubba, hubba, hubba! Money, money, money! Who do you trust?" The studio sponsored ad who's sole purpose is to get you to spend money to see that film? Or your friends, family or others who are going to tell you their honest opinion if it's good or not? Does everyone you know and every CZcamsr you watch saying it's bad mean you won't like it - no, but odds are if you weren't dead set on seeing it in a theatre, your waiting for it to be free on TV or Streaming. In this day of social media - one voice can reach a lot of people. Lets say for arguments sake the next non-existent Star Wars movie is an absolute unwatchable dumpster fire but there's a ton of hype because basically what the trailers show is the only remotely good things. This channel has 289,000 subscribers, which if a warning from you guys how bad it is turns everyone away from it, is more than 4.3 million dollars of lost revenue for that film if we assume the tickets are the same 15 dollars it costs for a ticket where I live. Sure drop in the bucket of some of the big openings, but what happens if another channel with that many switches that many people from will watch to won't? And another? And then one with double the subscribers, triple, 5 times as many? And this isn't ye olden times where it's gonna take weeks for the planet to hear it - the studio could go from massive expectations thinking it was good to watching barely a trickle of people go in to see it in a matter of hours, or anyone that didn't pre-buy a ticket and unable to refund it not showing up later for a massive week 2 drop off. I have my issues with Titanic, I didn't particular like Avatar, Endgame, and Infinity War - but they and all the other massive box office pull ins all have the same thing in common - they were good enough that people told others to go see it, or they went to see it again themselves, maybe with the people they told to go see it.
Now the qustion is how long until Netflix get their head out of the sand and look at the numbers and give their films theatrical releases.
Ya exactly I wanted to see The Gray Man and Knives out 2 in theaters and I think they both would have been massive hits with exclusive theatrical releases. Netflix spent 200 million on the Gray Man. A movie with 2 of Hollywood's hottest superstars Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans facing off against each other in a Russo brothers high octane action film has a guaranteed huge female audience at the very least. Don't understand why they are throwing away hundreds of millions of dollars but would much rather increase our subscription costs 🤨🙄
this kind of reminds me of the box office trajectory of the original My Big Fat Greek wedding. That also had a small opening but had a very steady box office over the coming weeks and even months
This move is amazing!
I wish I would have saw this movie in a good mindset I'm glad it's coming back in IMAX definitely going to see it again, because I went to go see this opening weekend on Sunday with a massive hangover and thought I was going to die 🤢🤢
Like the new studio John
Im pretty sure John Campea is the entire Marketing Team for this movie 😂
I have seen NO advertising from this movie, so John is the only reason I know about this
I watched it yesterday and told about 10 people that they need to go see it today
I think it had staggered release dates through out the country bc I was able to find a theater that had this movie until like 2 weeks ago
I personally liked The Northman better (my current favorite film of 2022) but I LOVE seeing Everything Everywhere All At Once get this kind of reception.
Comcast/Universal/Focus Features are going to look pretty stupid by putting The Northman on streaming after their idiotic "dump it on streaming if it underperforms after two weeks to prop up our struggling failing Peacock streaming service" when that film was made with a $90 million production budget.
so happy for Michelle
I’ll be completely honest I haven’t heard a single thing about the movie other than that it’s a multiverse based story, not heard anything good or anything bad either way about it, I haven’t exactly gone out of my way to look into it either though so that’s on me, but keeping in mind that I haven’t heard anything going either way aboutit, haven’t even bothered to watch any trailers ill admit, hearing that it’s doing so well in the box office with an actual increase so many weeks into release alone has made me feel a sense of urgency to get to my local cinema tomorrow evening and see it before it is no longer available on big screens, first time in forever where I’ll be going into a movie with no knowledge behind it or even having seen a trailer so looking forward to seeing what I’m in for
Curious to know how you felt about it, it's really a must see on the big screen, hope you have a good time.
It’s better to go into this movie knowing nothing. It is the craziest movie you will ever see and it’s amazing. I highly, HIGHLY suggest you go watch this movie
@@DARKgirafa local cinema has only been showing it once a day so haven’t had an opportunity still but booked in for tomorrow evening and made sure I steered clear of trailers or anything still, will update on my thoughts on it then, looking forward to it though just from the basic concept alone
Really bizarre as well my cinema is only releasing bookings a day in advance, no screenings are scheduled any further than a day from whatever day it is and a single booking the following day is added each day
@@Kylepmoore96 Hope you have a good time!
This film was awesome 👍
Been wanting to see this movie it looked interesting but it’s not showing. Hopefully it opens in all theaters or it comes out on DVD or streaming
My Big Fat Greek Wedding had a similar run
Well, sucks for me. It's not opening in my country.
Gorgeous scenario! Really nice! But the slow camera moving around makes me really nauseated... :(
nice
Saw it this weekend but really hated it
Topic Crisis what it is
I wish I liked it as much as everyone else. It's definitely creative and different. Dildos and hot dog fingers and some of the other dragged out scenes just isn't my thing anymore. I liked it though. Very happy for the whole team winning at the box office.
box office doesnt make a good movie
Word of mouth is why I know that the suicide squad film was a success and not a flop like you mislead the people to believe bub ?
john really supports Asian movies, because his wife?
because it’s a great movie?
Hr hated mortal combat
