Marc Spector - Hey John and Crew! Yesterday during Rob’s mailbag, he mentioned that you went to see Everything Everywhere All At Once in theaters. I SAW THIS MOVIE!!! AND THIS COULD BE THE FIRST NON-COMIC BOOK MOVIE I WILL SEE 2X IN THEATRES. OMFG THIS IS THE FIRST 10/10 MOVIE IVE SEEN IN YEARS. WTF!!!!
I’m sorry ab that man
It sadly isn’t playing anywhere near me, but I’m glad you liked it. Maybe I’ll go see it when it releases in my local cinema
Saw it in LA. Indeed an all-timer movie, can’t wait to see it over and over again. My god. It has it all. Amazing movie.
@@HarCoolReviews see it in IMAX if u can! Find the biggest audience too! Everyone was cheering, gasping, laughing in my theater.
@@sayjaibao01188 I’ll try to!
I cried for 20 minutes after the movie and I hadn't even come close to processing it all. Incredible
same, same
I saw it two nights ago. The next day at work I started crying just thinking about the movie. The themes of generational trauma were all too familiar for me.
This film moved me to my fucking soul. It is, to me, the best piece of art I have ever experienced. I wept internally, yet didn't shed a tear. I don't have the words to properly articulate what this film meant to me.
You did a pretty bang up job with the wept internally line.
It was originally written for Jackie Chan and thank the gods they rewrote it for Michelle Yeoh. I went with a friend not expecting much and we left flabbergasted, crying and overjoyed. What a masterpiece.
Not since “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” have I seen a movie so original, deep, ridiculous, scary, lovely & hilarious. It’s my movie of the decade thus far: Everything Everywhere All At Once - Michelle Yeoh is an international treasure; the ubiquitous James Hong killing it and Ke Huy Quan & Stephanie Hsu are both gems. The Daniels are an insane directing duo.
I liked the "visual tribute" to Chinese director Wong Kar Wai's "In the Mood For Love".
Key Huy Quan did not quit. He was forced out of the business due to lack of opportunities for Asian actors.
If you told me I would watch a movie that would make me cry watching two rocks on a cliff, I'd be very skeptical... My god that last 10 minutes made me sob like a baby. What a wonderfully weird and compelling film.
I saw Everything Everyone All At Once 4 times in theaters, that’s how much I enjoyed the film. Original written movies like this is what keeps cinema alive.
The academy needs to recognize this movie. I would be surprise if they dont win original screenplay, film editing and costume. Would be awesome if they win best picture!
I think this and Babylon might be top 2 for the best picture winner
Omg EEAAO just got nominated for 11 times
Came back to see your comment. It was recognised, well deserved.
Couldn’t be more happy with the results! Never did imagine the movie would win best actress and supporting actor. Bonus with Jamie Lee win!
Just watched it without knowing much about it. I was fkn losing it… I didn’t realize I was watching a fkn masterpiece until everything was literally all up in my face. What a fkn experience. Top 10 movies for sure
Right it's amazing
You cannot just watch this movie once. I’ve seen it 4 times and after the fourth time I can’t really express the feeling it leaves me. The movie in and of itself almost represents life with all of its distractions. What’s this? What’s that? Who’s that? What’s going on? Just as we do in life. But in searching for meaning behind it all, you realize that there may not be an overall meaning behind it all, but that each moment is as important and meaningful as every other moment. I realized the most important time in all of existence is RIGHT NOW. That’s all that matters. Nothing more, nothing less.
Agree, you catched more after you watched it again and again!!! Love this moive more too!!
the movie just hits you in place , where you did not even think you could be hit, such a cinematic masterpiece tbh, on par with parasite or even better
38 days. 25 Million. ONLY 5 special effects members! DIDN'T FEEL TO LONG TO ME AT ALL I LOVED EVERY SECOND! EVERY SECOND! I WANTED MORE! THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING FAV EVER! FAV EVER! KungFU Hustle, Batman 89, Kill Bill and This movie. All those movies made me feel what I felt in this movie. Batman 89 of course is my childhood but damn This movie is amazing!
From the future, as someone who just saw this movie two days ago and has already seen Doctor Strange 2: you're absolutely right about the comparison. This movie does multiverse *way* better than Doctor Strange did, and though both films had heart at their core, "Everything" does a much better job of making that heart matter. This is an off-the-wall work of art that shouldn't work at all on paper, but works wonderfully on screen somehow. If you like family dramas, butt plugs, philosophy, hot-dog fingers, loving motivation, or raccoons, you should definitely see this.
Shortround didn't quit acting, Hollywood snubbed him so he went to film school and went behind the camera...until he saw Crazy Rich Asians.
If Michelle and Quan doesn't win Oscars I will be PISSED and will know forever Hollywood is rigged bullshit. THIS IS MY favorite movie of all time and I am a movie guy. I am a MOVIE GUY of 35 years. ITS. THE BEST. MOVIE. EVER. I CRIED laughed cheered cried again. AMAZING. MOVIE.
He Asian actor from Indiana Jones didn’t quit acting because he wanted to. He wasn’t given any roles because the was Asian and no movies around that time would really give Asian actors roles.
Ke Huy Quan already deserves an Oscar nom for best supporting actor. He was fucking incredible
His monologue made me BURST into tears. So goddamn amazing
"When Michelle Yeoh is in something, I pay attention." Truer words have not been spoken. I LOVE HER and she was SPECTACULAR!
I just walked out of the movie a few seconds ago, and I’m completely speechless. About to buy another ticket now so I can see it again.
Edit: Yeah, that was worth seeing twice back to back.
SAME, I'm definitely watching this movie again, saw it about a few hours ago
Same. It was an experience I’ll never forget
This movie is probably the closest thing to a DMT trip , and also...Raccacoonie...
It was chaotic, heartfelt, and hilarious. And every single person in my screening loved it. We laughed, we cried, and we had a great time together. It was one of my favorite movies of the year, and one of my all time favorite theater experiences.
Ke Yun quit acting because there wasn't any opportunities for him to act in Hollywood because he was Asian. He breaks it down in Jimmy Kinmel interview. He also decided to got back into after watching Crazy Rish Asians
I just watched this movie and it is immediately in my top 3 all time. It’s such an unspeakingly beautiful creation and I’ve never felt so many emotions in one movie
Who’s here after it won 7 academy awards
Just saw the movie. And my god, it was such an amazing masterpiece. The whole cast shines and the story is drama, funny, action packed, and heartwarming. I love it.
@Biden Cringe good point
@Biden Cringe There is a reason most of it made no sense to you. It would be rude of me to tell you. Considering your thoughts about the movie you wouldn't understand my answer.
Movie of the year, easily- in all universes
Had me crying jars of tears
One of my favorite scenes is when the mom and daughter are having a quiet conversation on top of a mountain.
That scene rocked.
@@pablocontrerassanchez8111 I think the Daniels were stoned when they wrote it.
I saw EEAAO on Wednesday and I'm STILL processing the magnificence I beheld. It's such a fantastic movie... It touches ALL the bases in such poignant and excellent ways. As soon as the credits ended, I wanted to watch it again. I'd be shocked if this film isn't up for Oscar awards for multiple categories. I disagree with John on it being too long. It's perfect as is.
This film deserves to be seen by millions of people.
Oscars have lost some of their credibility and everyone has to campaign to even have a shot at being nominated. Many of these smaller gems can't afford to campaign aggressively or don't have the means or enough funds to do so without the backing of an influential producer or director.
movie you look back on like holy shit that was just amazing
Damn you are very easily impressed.
@@firstnamelastname7473 Dude seriously??? many of us who loved this film didn't like most of last year's Oscar nominated films as well as House of gucci (or house of random accents), the last duel and the french dispatch. this movie is far better executed.
@@nikitamohanan2124 house of gucci was a masterpiece compared to this lmao
This man’s enthusiasm is infectious. And I don’t blame him. This movie was a fucking slaper.
This movie was incredible! Gave every single feeling you can get from a great film. A film I can rewatch over and over again and not get tired of
one of the best movies ive seen in the last 10 years - if you dont see it: consider yourself deprived.
Definitely deserves to be shown in more theaters. It's so good.
And I thought Dr. Strange multiverse of madness is Good
But EEATO is Way More Madness, it's Crazy, Magnificent, Stunning, Colorful and Amazing
Movie.
john sold me this movie. i watched it. and i wish this movie never ended. i fell in love with everything this movie had to offer. its so fucking perfect.
10/10 for me. Run, don’t walk, and go see it with a crowd on a big screen
Multiverse masterpiece. Must be Oscar winner. It’s lovely.
Oh yeah a contender this year
From what i can gather, people either love or hate the movie. Personally I loved it but my grandmother and aunts could not understand the movie and hated it XD. I personally liked the movie because it was a bizarre comedy, existential horror, multiversal chaos all centring on the theme of family. (not to mention the vfx and sfx were made by a team of 5!!) People either love or hate the chaos, it has a theme of accepting of sexuality and change while not being preachy about it at all. I enjoy how it tied so many bizarre themes in something genuinely enjoyable. (My top 5 movies of all time)
this movie made Vin Diseal proud lol. But yeah10/10 film honestly
Just watched a 9PM showing of the movie . Theatre was packed. This movie was phenomenal
Honestly, it's one of the most incredible films I ever seen in my entire life. I didn't want it to end.
FACT
Immediately a top 10 movie of all time for me immediately after I watched.... Then by the next day, it moved to top 5.... It's now been a few weeks since seeing it, it's now top 2, only being contested by Synecdoche, New York...and I might even enjoy it more than that... Good God, this is everything I've wanted in a movie. Perfection fr. Seen twice in theaters, planning on seeing it a third time before it leaves theaters. This deserves a watch on a big screen. This deserves being watched period. AHHHHHHHH
Yea it was above average
@@ThePinsa42 lmfaooo
If brilliance equated to cultural impact, this would be matrix-esk if not a bit better more impactful.
As soon as the IRS interview started when she displayed her awards behind her, I knew this was going to be a very strange movie. For those that remember that scene you know that it is foreshadow for things to come. You just can't imagine how the plot was going to include that mentioned scene later in the movie.
This movie literally is everything, everywhere all at once
This is the best movie I saw this year.
And I cannoy fathom the mere idea that I will see a better film in 2022.
Please go see it, people. Support great cinema - otherwise, studios will just make more _Morbius_ !
The best movie I’ve seen in SO LONG. Iconic, stunning, groundbreaking, emotional, stimulating
Pretty amazing that the VFX was only done by 5 people.
Right?!?!
The less you know about this movie before seeing it, the better. This film should absolutely be mandatory viewing
A MASTERPIECE! This year best picture!
This movie is a 10/10 and I think down the road it’ll show up on a lot of “best movies of all time” lists. What a wild, unique, artistic masterpiece
This movie damn near made me cry more than once
Couldn't agree more. A true work of art, and a masterpiece at that. Classic stories and relatable themes, mythology, philosophy, absurdity, stunning emotional evocations, endless homages to pop culture and other works of art, incredible acting, directing, visual effects, editing, and on and on. It checks every box. It's mind blowing that they could achieve even a few of these things as successfully as this film did, on an indie budget no less. Easily one of the best films I've ever seen, and I'm a tough critic when it comes to movies. If you haven't seen it, go see it.
I just watched it in belgium, what a pleasant surprise. I went to the movies with my brothers, everyone laughted out loud.
a unique experience. That's why going to the cinema is important.
I saw this movie 3 times in 4 days. Please go watch it as soon as you can.
What I love so much about this movie are all the symbolisms. I love how they tried to incorporate physics , philosophical, meta-physical, psychology theories and even add family issues. Like… Wow…
Swiss army man and now this.... 2 of the most unique movies ever
Saw it tonight and was not disappointed! I was cheering, laughing, and even crying by the end! What a gloriously inventive piece of cinematic chaos this was!!
Hands down one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my life. Incredibly exciting, touching, inspiring, hilarious…I’ll never forget it
I think this movies speaks volume. As an Asian Guy! It really shows the struggles and generational yearning understanding from your Old Generation parents. I totally understood the dark bagel idea; representing dark thoughts, anxiety, suicide. I could really relate to Joy, with her being a lesbian and dealing with Asian expectations! But I could also see Evelyn's character; with that generational trauma and how that carries over to her own family. The movie was perfect, and it was pretty WILD! LOL.
This is one of the best films ever made for this type of film. It’s at a level where it’s not too far into overly smart and doesn’t dumb the hard to swallow parts down. Seriously. You need to see this if you have t. Just go into it with an open mind.
I think mindset is everything. Some people just go in with the mindset not to enjoy it and then they don't, they ruin their own immersion. Heck, you could even enjoy Morbius if one had the mindset to. That doesn't mean even then that it will be good for everybody but trying to understand what the Daniels wanted to do will make the audience to enjoy it much more.
It was the everything bagel I didn't know I needed.
Saw it yesterday and was overjoyed. A visually stunning, amazingly choreographed, recklessly funny, and oddly touching masterpiece.
I saw this movie not to long ago. I saw it at home sadly it didn't come out in my area. And it was absolutely incredible 👏. Everyone in movie was incredible! Plus this is my first ever A24 movie, and I loved every moment! What a comeback for Short round and also Michelle Yoeh!
I saw the movie last night. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! Mark my words, this movie WILL be on the list for Best Picture!
Are you going to complain if it's not? Your opinion of the movie isn't validated just cause other people like it. Enjoy it for yourself.
@@aefgagaefgag493 Quality is quality. If it's not nominated or actually wins Best Picture that would simply be wrong. Then again the best movie of last year didn't get any love either. Pig is a masterpiece.
@@darkoale3299 lol agree with Pig. It was great. But disagree with the general sentiment.
Glad so many people are back here after the Oscars. Like John, this isn't even my fave film of the year. I'd have to subjectively say that's The Batman or even a great horror flick like Black Phone or Barbarian. But I get it, EEAO is the most impressive feat of cinema I've seen in MANY years. It's unquestionably the most original and creative thing to come out of Hollywood in quite some time, and it manages to blend modern fantastical concepts with classic human stories and familiar emotional beats. It truly lives up to its name and deserved all the accolades it got. Bravo.
This is my favorite movie of the year so far.
This movie is everything. Seriously. You want it? This movie has it.
Better than Doctor Strange 2
So much so that that’s a borderline offensive comparison
@@nobodyburgen4594 it's definitely not even comparable, but hard not too when they were released 2 weeks apart and both were about the multiverse
Best Way I can describe this film; Donnie Darko meets It Follows meets Doctor Strange meets the Matrix meets a Bruce Lee film, all seen through a Lynchian-esque lense.
It also has several similarities to rick and morty (themes of dysfunctional family, depression, nihilism as well as the weird adult humour).
+ eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.
without a doubt, it is the best movie i have seen in years
Epic movie. It’s one of those memorable movie experiences like, titanic 300 avatar inception matrix. It’s really super epic.
This movie is a masterpiece. Give it a chance. It’s a celebration of the medium that is film. This is my movies are the ultimate art form.
@Biden Cringe Beyond ass. I still have no idea what the point of it was? Self acceptance?
My gf and i absolutely loved this movie. just saw it last night, us and the entire theater were loving every minute of it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
One word “Raccoon-coony” iykyk..
I went to the theaters with 3 options... Morbius, Ambulance and Everything, Everywhere. I DO NOT REGRET choosing to watch this film! It reminded me of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and I couldn't be more happy!
Oh god as someone who watched morbius already, I can't imagine choosing anything besides everything, everywhere, all at once.
Just watched it, its a masterpiece, it should win Best Picture
There was only one other movie that made me question my entire reality walking out the theater after watching it, Everything Everywhere and Interstellar 🚀 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Amazing that someone else loves this movie and Interstellar. I would say those 2 films especially are just out of this world and kindles a certain facet of the human spirit.
This is cinema
@@Eserr7856 I literally sat in that movie toward the end of the movie saying to myself, this is cinema.
@@FortunaFavored lol forsure, the imagination and cinematography was incredible
I just watched it at AMC Cinema on 42nd st in Times Square in PRIME! Unfortunately, the seats didn't rumble.. Maybe the film didn't take advantage of it.... Other then that, the movie is easily has to win something at the Oscars next year!
Watched it and it is amazing. One of the best movies i have seen in a long time
John perfectly describes this movie, it's super funny with some crazy multiverse connections, awesome action scenes, and has some good dramatic heart touching moments. I really enjoyed it! Great film
Not too long at all it flew by and it was the best film I’ve seen for a long long time. Absolute unbelievable film!!
This movie so does deserve to be aired in more theaters. I expected one thing and it gave me it and more I didn't even think I wanted or needed.
I finally got to see this film today. It made me weep . It's more than I even expected it to be. This is right in my top 100 films EASILY . Now it will affect people differently but it just GOT to me .

this is easily in my top 100,000 movies, easily!
SERIOUSLY!!! Go effin see this movie like right now. So so so so so incredible!!
This film is as fast paced as modern life. When it does slow down bring out the tissues. The bonkers parts of this film make you spit whatever you are drinking through your nose. And again when it slows down it leaves you sobbing. I have to disagree. It was the perfect length.
I'm with John on the fact that they probably could have cut 10 minutes out it. But aside from that, one of the greatest experiences I've ever had watching a movie

I'm not a movie person but I like to go see a movie every year on/around my birthday. I was scrolling through movies playing at my local theater and I almost settled on the comedy Lost City until the title and picture for Everything Everywhere All At Once popped up. I read further and it was sci-fi, which I like, and featured an Asian cast, which is refreshing representation! I pulled up a trailer and watched until the cracked screen and stopped to prevent spoilers. I watched it today and I loved it. I love that I could not predict things and that things were weird, unsettling yet hilarious, wholesome and had great action scenes! I did cry, and that's a plus. The acting was superb and humbling to see. My theater was pretty empty but I imagine it would be great to Experience and laugh with a bigger audience
I heard him mention "shortround" from one of my favorite movies back in the 80's when I was a kid which was Indiana Jones and the temple of doom, I LOVED that movie
I absolutely loved this movie! Bonkers is putting it lightly 🤣, but what an experience. The movie is funny as hell, touching as hell and actually pretty profound. there is so much meat on the bones you have enough for leftovers for at least week! the crazy part is that there were only 3 people in my theatre as I didn't know it was a limited release, but hopefully everyone gets a chance to see it in theatres when it gets a wider release. This movie is an absolute win from me.
This movie was amazing! I had no idea what to expect going in and every scene made me want to see what comes next. I definitely think this has to be one of the top 10 movies of the year. The way they integrated a heartfelt story in a wild premise was so well done. Props to the team that made this, I want to see it again. (just came out of the IMAX screening in Burbank too)
The total time frame of this movie is just right. No more, no less.
It took me a while, but I finally watched it tonight at the cinema. It is such a mad movie. And I say that in a good way. I agree with John, it is a bit longer than I'd like but it's still definitely worth a watch. The Racoon... Haha, that's all I'll say.
Its going to be difficult for doctor strange to match up with this movie. Good luck to them.
EEAAO has layers of layers of depth of screenwriting while using practical effects to push the intensity of the movie.
The script is so solid and is so consistent that it will not make you feel lost while your brain is processing several multilayered moments.
Its an independent film with a limited budget that has high tier actors (while including the return of Data[Ke Huy Quan]) to show off their skills.
Only 5 people had created all of the effects.
Definitely one of the best movies of the year.
Some people don't like subtitles because they can't understand Chinese language, it's like watching a foreign film.
@@vangchong3080 I enjoyed it. It reminded me of Spanglish. (Which is how I talk to my parents cause my Spanish sucks lol)
I comepletely respect people loving this movie. But I didn't love it. I thought the story was phenomenal, and the ending wrapped things up extremely well. That being said, the entire time I was just wondering why they are telling a story about a person who can't seem to accept themselves in such an elongated way. I didn't love the tone of the film either. But, glad that people love it.
I didn't really notice how long it was. I saw the length once in a while, but it didn't register that it was 2 hours.
I saw the trailer, out of nowhere it came up, and I was so hyped for it! Didn't know UT was limited release so now I have to look to see where the nearest theater in Boston is. So excited
