#HonestTrailers - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I'll never get over my mom's ultimate mom reaction to this movie: "I didn't understand any of it, but it had that sweet scene with the rocks."
actually one of my favorite scenes. it was weirdly so wholesome and peaceful!
That was the scene that took the movie to another level. I was having a great time, blowing my mind, laughing and getting caught up in the little dramatic moments... And then I'm like, "Why do I feel like crying over inanimate rocks?" Cos it takes a hell of a good director to make me want to cry over a rock.
i'm surprised they didn't mention that the emotional core and sweetest moment was literally two rocks talking over a cliff
@@beeaggro2593 Because the sweetest moment was actually Waymond talking about "This is how I fight."
Okay, fine, pretty much any moment in the third act would qualify.
I. cried. at. fucking. rocks. 😭
Still can't believe we had a movie with the phrase "Multiverse of Madness" in the title the past year and this one was more apt for that name.
More like the Multiverse of different art New Yorks, am I right!?
This year? I know time has felt like its standing still since covid, but those were both last year.
@@samvsmedia8680 Yea i kind of meant like in the last 12 months. Anyways i have updated the comment.
yeah this movie is so multiversal the plot happens in one building
You are the 20 millionth person to point that out.
I love this movie. Stephanie Hsu should have won the Oscar. Her performance is just amazing. "Sucked into a baaaagel" - delivered with vulnerability and sincerity.
have you seen her audition? they ask her to sing the line and she does it like that and they put it in the movie. one of the best auditions i've ever seen
@@simonjenkin out of curiosity, where's the tape from? I mean I'll probably find it in 30 seconds on CZcams, but was it in the Blu-ray? Maybe in the making of? I haven't watched it yet. (The making of, not the Blu-ray.)
@@renobutters i'm' not enturely sure! might be off the blu ray, may have just been posted by one of the daniels. it went vieal a few months ago, and they explained that they used that audition to help further craft the character. it's only a two or three minute clip
@@renobutters the directors tweeted it to brag about how awesome it was
she made me creeped out by bagels. It was that good
Thank you so much for mentioning Stephanie's AMAZING performance. Stephanie was in more of the movie and really played such a complex role so well and effortless. Like that audition tape!?!? Phenomenal
That was insane. The fact that it was an audition... the character (characters?) was so fully realized.
"In another life, I would really have liked seeing an EEAAO Honest Trailer with you." Yes, this is instantly my favourite comment.
I read this in Katy Perry's voice
It was kind of an easy one for me to make lol
The Morbius one he read at the end got the biggest laugh of the video from me
I-E-I-E-I-O

Everything everywhere sucked
Yes, I have no doubt that this was a "she's been due" win for Curtis. Hopefully in a few decades the Academy can snub some other amazing performance to make it up to Stephanie Hsu.
Yeah she's been due but that totally screwed Angela Basset
@@mirkecWii also Angela Basset, yes. Who is probably also due and has fewer chances ahead of her than Hsu. But it would've been more reasonable if they'd given it to Hsu instead of Curtis because it would still be an EEAAO win but for a phenomenal performance instead of an EEAAO win and a recognizable actor with a merely good performance.
I was secretly hoping they would give the Oscar to *both* JLC and Stephanie Hsu. Both of them were amazing.
Really wish we could get out of "they are due" attitude in modern society. Does the academy want an Oscar to represent amazing achievement in the year it was awarded for, or do they want it to be a participation/seniority trophy? It can't be both.
Stephanie Hsu and her character was the weakest part of the movie. I was surprised she even got nominated.
It is actually made pretty clear that Evelyn is a bad person. This is mainly due to her farther. She only becomes a better person when she engages with Waymond's worldview.
... due to her father*
“Shut up, rocks!”
YOU DID NOT! It’s one of the best scenes in the movie 😂
**Language.**
_Seriously?_
*How Dare they!*
(Okay, I laughed at it, not gonna lie)
Thank you for giving Stephanie Hsu her flowers in this video. JLC did very good work in the movie, but she didn't hold a candle to the brilliant and complex performance that Hsu turned in. Fingers crossed she's nominated again soon!
Sausage fingers crossed
She is so good in Mrs Maisel. I hope they bring her back.
I absolutely adored Stephanie Hsu! She made the movie for me!
Hot dog fingers crossed!
Hot dog fingers crossed that she has better luck than Peter O'Toole.
The movie that won Every Oscar for Every Nomination All At Once
Wtf?😂 I thought top gun maverick won best sound design.
It won all the above the line Oscars
@@goodsaint_001 Well, half the film you couldn't see any of the actors talking, ha ha
And I'm still trying to figure out how/why
@@Westsailor because it was that good
Fun fact from the directors’ commentary: the smile by Hsu at 5:14 was genuine and after they called cut. They slowed it down and left it in.
There is a Directors commentary?!
the smile is everything
This movie is proof that you can have an action-filled, zany, crazy movie and STILL be considered sophisticated.
That laundry and taxes line is the most romantic thing I've ever heard.
It’s crazy how effective simplicity is when done right. Like there’s countless romantic movies out there with a big one liner or big moment where a character professes their love to another character, but that line seriously displays true love right there.
The montage right after that line showing Waymond at the laundromat was *chefs kiss*
At least for me, I always desired doing ordinary things with my crushes, and in the universe which Waymond says this he's not with Evelyn.
Evelyn to Waymond after the first jump: "I saw my life without you. It was beautiful." Yikes!
Best/worst thing to contemplate after a difficult breakup 🥲
The "shut up, rocks!" moment had me nearly spit water out of my nose
But, why...?
@@zanfear Because I was drinking water and that was a funny moment in the video that caught me off guard
Racacoonie one of the best running gags I've seen in a while
Really?
"darkest timeline where she is an NFT" had me crackling. thats genius!!!
1:35 "Her character Evelyn is super mean".
No, she represents every Asian mother, everywhere, all at once. Which is accurate to my Chinese mother.
You just brought new meaning for the title lol 🤯
Yeah the cultural disconnect in this Honest Trailer is kinda painful. The premise is literally built on generational trauma
The two statements aren't contradictory? Most (East) Asian mothers are mean. Particularly too their daughters. And feel bad about it afterwards but never admit it. That's accurate to my mother, grandmothers, and aunts.
Basically, mean doesn't necessarily mean bad.
I've been a big fan of Michelle Yeoh since her Supercop days. She totally killed it not just with her kung-fu, but also with some of the best mother-daughter dialogue ever written. And I was so happy to see EEAAO win all of the Oscars.
She should have gotten a nomination for Crouching Tiger years ago. She was the standout star in that film.
The Oscar belonged to Cate Blanchett, she just didn’t win because she already had two Oscar’s and her movie wasn’t a favorite
@@mish375 She was really great in that movie, yes! 👏👍
This is the first movie my girlfriend and I saw on our first date. We fell in love with the line "In another life, I would have liked just doing laundry and taxes with you". After that we kept discussing about our alternate selves in different lives, till we fell for each other. This is one added reason why I thank this movies existence. We are each other's "Waymond", a term that we use to refer to being a source of enlightenment amidst the chaos. She also said this movie is me, complicated, weird, but truly beautiful.
The lucky few multiverse versions of us have our own Waymond in our lives.
If you two ever get married, I hope you have an EEAAO-themed wedding with fancy everything bagels, a karaoke station, a photo booth with digital backgrounds to create alternate versions of yourself, and googly eyes everywhere.
@@_abracadabra Awesome suggestion!!
Stephanie Hsu needed an award for this performance. She was just way too good not to win best supporting actress
She got the Independent Spirit Award for Breakout Performance, which is apt, given that her role in EE was her first official role in a Hollywood full-length feature film (she shot her part for Shang-Chi after EE wrapped even though Shang-Chi was released first). Given how green she is, and her age, it's unlikely the Academy would just award someone without some decent amount of screen credit to their name. However, this movie will give her so many opportunities going forward that she will most likely return to compete again in subsequent years, maybe even for Best Actress who knows :-).
@@daikaizouku1468 Hmmm do you remember that Anna Paquin won an Oscar at the age of 11? she was PRETTY green
Ye, she needed the to be awarded the Razzie. For the most amateuristic acting this year.
@@ooscardls Yeah, you're right. LOL, there goes my theory. Stephanie will get other chances though.
@@daikaizouku1468 The Academy actually loves to award upcoming actresses under 30 in that category. Lupita Nyong'o, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Hudson, Ariana DeBose, Alicia Vikander, Marisa Tomei, Mary Steenburgen, Geena Davis, Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Sandy Dennis, Patty Duke, Rita Moreno... They also love to honor older actresses for their whole body of work, and this year those two trains of thinking just collided.
Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh deserved their respective Oscars so much.
Jamie Lee, not so much
Preach, their performances were fantastic, and I'm delighted that they won. Shame that Stephanie Hsu didn't win for her role.
Exactly. Those two definitely did. It's a shame that Angela Bassett or Stephanie Hsu got screwed over. We love Jamie Lee Curtis, but she wasn't even the best supporting actress in her own movie.
Jamie Lee Curtis really didn't
Angela Bassett should've done the thing tho.
"The only thing I do know is that we have to be kind. Please, be kind. Especially when we don't know what's going on."
I remember hearing about this movie a few weeks before release, I've watched the trailer and I immediately had the feel that the world wasn't ready for this.
Turned out the world was ready enough, and enjoyed it.
It's a very well-made Camusian absurdism: the movie. The world has been ready for this movie for 80 years.
Yeah, this film would have been trashed a decade ago and will just become a cult classic decades later. Good thing absurdism is the norm now.
I never had that feeling but I understand why you had it. I never thought I was actually going to see the movie myself until my social worker (at the time) got us tickets to see it! 🤓
The alternate title 'Crazy Switched Asians' is so apt and hilarious 😂
You know who got snubbed at the Oscars, the stuntmen and women. C'mon Academy Awards, Stunts deserves it's own category!
Agreed. That stuff is hard and injuries are common
TIL stunts dont have their own category. wth!!! stuntworkers are the hardest workers! its one of the reasons why the john wick movies are so good - its made by and for stuntmen!
It's been brought up a few times over the years and it's been mentioned again by a couple of people involved with John Wick 4 (including Keanu). One thing they point out is the ambiguity of who stunt awards would actually go to: the performer(s), the coordinator, whoever conceived/mapped out the stunt (which may not be either of the previous), etc. That said, I definitely think it's worth hashing that out and giving stunt awards.
@@virgilhawkins5680 sounds like a team should all get one
It would go to the stunt coordinator, which would be deserved, but the stuntmen and women wouldn't get them. When Best Director is awarded, the first and second assistant directors don't get any awards. Same with Best Score - arguably the person who arranges themes and motifs for an entire orchestra doesn't get dick.
Is it just me, or does Ke Huy Quan still sound much like he did 35 years ago. Still love him, just an observation
I was thinking that too!
He still has same energy of Short Round even when he's 51 years old now. Look how happy he is when he meet Harrison Ford again when they won Best Picture and how he surprised Brendan Fraser when he gets interviewed. He's my spirit animal!
Docta Jones!!
I'd say for sure he's pretty high pitched for a 50 YO
worthy Oscar winner btw
I'm happy for Jamie Lee Curtis but Stephanie Hsu definitely should've gotten the Oscar. She really carried the emotional weight of the movie.
Nothing can top that swordfight at the end of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Michelle Yeoh, certified badass. I couldn't even hate her in Crazy Rich Asians
Agreed, the emotions and beautiful scenes in CTHD were nothing short of spectacular. But 20 years ago the world was a very different place for Asians to be put on a pedestal.
She was the best part of Crazy Rich Asians. The only thing I wanted after I saw it was a prequel movie about her character.
Please say "You Are Not Unlovable. There Is Always Something To Love. Even In A Stupid, Stupid Universe, Where We Have Hot Dogs For Fingers, We Get Very Good With Our Feet." In your epic voice!
Yesssssssssss!
yes!!
So glad this movie is getting recognition. I think it's weird that Stephanie Hsu didn't win best supporting actress though.
Yeah, she was amazing 😊
She was robbed
I think it's weird how Curtis won considering how the other four nominees were better.
We know why JLC won 🙄
literally! and if it wasn’t her it should’ve been angela basset
I would gladly watch Ke Huy Quan in anything! He was immediately my favorite character in this movie and is such a positive personality in every single interview
Librarian Daniel with a bit in his mouth with Michelle riding him like a bad little pony?!?!? I guess I missed that one. Hahaha! She is remarkable. I am thrilled for her, Jamie, Ke and of course Brendan. They are all gonna wheeze the juice big time and fully deserve it.

Not going to lie, I am kind of jealous.🤣🤣
Full disclosure: I’m hella jealous
There are straight women with a Michelle Yeoh dominatrix fetish
He really does proves that with "Big imaginative Brain" anything's possible
Yes. Jamie Lee received a lifetime achievement award for this movie. but 1. She was pretty great in it. and 2. life time “we’re sorry we never appreciated you” awards are an Oscars tradition.
Plus she thanked her old fans. That literally made me feel special for always loving her.
She deserves it.
personally, I do believe Hsu beat Curtis by a mile in acting in this one. But Curtis was great, not like she sucked. And I guess yeah, she got the Oscar for her career, not this one movie. I can overlook that, if Hsu will get her Oscar down the line. And honestly, what we saw, she should have it soon, and maybe for lead and not supporting roles.
@@catwiesel_81 100% man. But while I love Hsu (so much), shes young and gorgeous and very talented. She wont have to wait till shes 50 lol. What she did earn was a life time of fans who will watch whatever she makes for 20 years. And if in 20 years I saw her on the street… Id still say “I love you Joe Joe Chubakka” lol
Hopefully James Hong will get his award soon while he’s still alive. Would hate to hear that he passed, only for the Oscars to snub him once again by not even adding him to the memoriam.
@@roygbiv9038 I dont think he’ll win an Oscar. But hopefully they give him a Lifetime Achievement like they did to Jackie Chan.
I’m glad that EEAAO finally getting its well deserved Honest Trailer! ❤
Not gonna lie, when my wife and I finished watching this we were like wtf was that, it was awesome, but wtf. Also the laundry and taxes line had us both crying almost
"Tears to your googly eyes" if that doesn't describe this movie I don't know what does
This movie deserved all the awards. It's rare I walk out of a movie and think to myself "This is cinema...this is art at it's highest magnitude." I laughed, I cried, the action was top notch and the gut punch was real.

@@defdaz Agreed.
"art at it's highest magnitude" lmao, you obviously never seen art movie in your life... try something from Peter Greenway for example, or Andrei Tarkovskij, or just fucking Kubrick lol.
Honestly, I didn’t really enjoy the movie. But “ in another universe, I would have really enjoyed just doing laundry and taxes with you” did make me cry
I went into this expecting nothing, because I didn’t watch any trailers or never heard about it’s release date or hype around it… I watched it and Jesus, it was refreshing, funny and had a good love story telling between a family. I do this with other movies also… I never watch trailers or read anything into it.. stops you from spoiling yourself and you’ll enjoy it more… greatest movie I’ve seen this decade easily
I was just too invested in these characters by the beginning of the second act. By the end, I took a few minutes to enjoy how satisfying that story and conclusion was. Truly a masterpiece.
That's one of this movie's greatest strengths in my opinion. That opening section (up until Evelyn punches Dierdre) does an excellent job of introducing the characters, their stories, and their motives, and efficiently getting us so familiar with them that we can empathize with and recognize it all by the time everything goes crazy.
That's why great art like this always second, third, multiple watching 👍😊
Goddamit! You showed the “Laundry and Taxes” scene and it got me…yet again!
(Every frigging time, man!)
Evelyn to Waymond after the first jump: "I saw my life without you. It was beautiful." Yikes!
Watching this movie while high and having the same generation trauma Joy had made me cried like a baby starting from the moment Jobu talks about her creation the bagel. I love this movie so much!
Fun fact: "Everything Everywhere All at Once" is the most-awarded film of *all* time! It beat the record held by "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King". 🤓
im so glad this movie got recognized. when it first came out, i was there opening week and the theater was EMPTY. i was worried this movie would just fade and eventually become a cult classic. this movie is worth every award!
It's amazing because it was hardly marketed and it was almost entirely word of mouth marketed. Which bears out in my view because I saw it 6 times in cinemas and each time dragged a new friend to see it, and they brought THEIR friends along the next times.
@@ladyreverie7027 My friends had a rule. I was not allowed to praise EEAAO at parties anymore. Apparently, I overdid it :D most of them watched and loved the movie.
That is the power of Word Of Mouth.
These days, an empty theater is almost a prerequisite for best picture nomination. Most people most years have never even heard of the movie until it wins the Oscar. Then they watch it with high expectations and realize why no one had ever heard of it.
Yes, I thought EEAAO was a terrible film. Good acting, but horrible entertainment value.

@@DisgruntledDoomer lmao I agree. its usually what happens when they're "forced" to make a video on trendy movies currently in the public discourse rather than movies that would make for a funny honest trailer
Totally agree. This was the weakest Honest Trailer I’ve ever seen. E.g., the jibe about how the multiverse needed all this explaining fell pretty flat because (a) they really didn’t spend much time explaining it and (B) knowing the background contributed massively to the fun of the film. This isn’t a knock on the Honest Trailers people though, the format just works best for movies that are very self-serious and/or pander to a specific audience and current social atmosphere, which this movie has neither of!
EEAAO is back in the theaters and I'm real tempted to rewatch it on the big screen!

I do agree Stephanie Hsu did some more legwork in this movie than JLC. I think the theme of the Oscars was "comeback" and they really wanted to honor people who have worked hard and overcome challenges and "deserved" to finally be recognized. Ultimately, Stephanie Hsu has a big long career ahead of her and I'm sure plenty of directors are calling her up after that role. She'll get her chance (I hope)
Just saw a trailer for Joy Ride that she’s in. Pretty excited for that movie
Awards should be given based on the merit of a performance, not to fit some "theme" of the night.
Also what challenges has JLC faced and overcome? She seems to have had a pretty consistent career over the past 45 years.
@@kjhuang constipation and irregularity that's why she had to eat all that activia

No, Ke Huy Quan carried the movie. His supporting actor Oscar is the only win without any doubt or competition.
No one person carried this movie. Ke Huy Quan killed it, Michelle Yeoh killed it, Stephanie Hsu killed it, JLC killed it, the directors killed it, the screenplay was awesome, the visual effects and editing were amazing. There's a reason it won all the Oscars.

One of the best movies I saw in the last decade - and a well deserved Oscar winner in every category. One of those rare movies that can change a person's life.
Movies are art and entertainment, they can comfort and maybe even remind you of smth; yet pretty sure they can't change lives. Unless you're 12 and very impressionable. This movie offers no new lessons - ''small things matter'', compassion, empathy, all this has been always taught to us. Also, in real life ''power of love'' absolutely can not fix everything, it can't stop genocidal terrorists or war. So no, it's not ''life-changing'', no movie is, no matter how good it is.
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 that’s totally just your opinion/experience, and you’re entitled to it, but movies can absolutely change lives for other people. Requiem for a Dream changed countless lives, including my own. This movie certainly changed my perspective on life and pulled me out of a funk last year, so I may look back on it and say the same for it with time. Don’t invalidate the power of art.

Stephanie's character had much more to do and was more integral to the story and wholly deserved a win but no doubt JLC was also deserving.
