As badass as Kelleren was, it also breaks my heart realizing he was there as the Dean of the Jedi Temple. Going back to see most of your students dead is heart wrenching, and Ahmed's facial expressions of fierce determination highlights his live acting ability. This whole thing sends chills down me and this is the Star Wars I'm here for! Fighting against all odds against oppression, even if just for a chance that you can save someone who might in turn save everyone else.
You can see that he knew that he could only save Grogu at that point

I ofc didn't recognize him during the scene, looked familiar, but couldn't quite put a name to the face. Then I saw his name in the credits and my mind was blown. It just elevated the scene to a whole different level knowing it was Ahmed. Nobody was more deserving of getting the role of saving Grogu. Simply the perfect choice.
You guys are doing Disney's work for them. How about asking for something like this in real cannon instead of cosigning it in your head cannon? There's no reason why all the money in the world can't write you a better story than this.
@@CZcamssSucksDick I don't disagree with you, but this is pretty common for Star Wars even before Lucas sold to Disney. I def have adjusted expectations when it comes to Star Wars storytelling. I love the universe and am pretty hungry for decent live action content at this point. However for this episode I would say that the acting and writing in this episode was much better than anything we've witnessed in a long time. I truly believe that just with his facial expressions, Ahmed Best was able to tell that story from my original comment, and it isn't just in my head cannon. All the clues and implications are there and laid down cleverly. This episode was a cut above a hell of a lot of live action SW stuff

After hearing about Ahmed’s heartbreaking story about the time he almost took his own life, after the massive backlash over JarJar (and I’m sure other things), it’s amazing to see him back in the franchise in such a big way.
i agree, although unlike most fans, i loved jar jar binks, he was kinda annoying but i felt he was an awesome character.
I just love that the Disney mgmt team remembered this man and went out of their way to give him a soul healing role that lets him shine on an entire new level
Filoni and Fav would hate being called Disney Mgmt team. This was all them. Disney lack the Star Wars knowledge to come up with something this deep

The reason he picked up the second lightsaber was because the other form he preferred was Jar'Kai, which emphasizes using two sabers.
Yes, although traditionally in Jar’Kai they use a shorter saber in one hand. But that doesn’t matter too much here 😂

I'm glad Mr Best didn't let the negativity get to him. Glad to see he's pushed through and made even more star wars history.
Based on established lore, I would say his list of friends includes: Quinlan Vos, Jocasta Nu, Jar Jar Binks, Queen Apailana, and maybe even Bail Organa. Pretty soon, Riyo Chuchi may very well end up being an ally to both The Clone Army and The Jedi; so, for all We know, she may eventually connect with Master Kelleran, as well.

Yeah, I've been thinking Quinlan, since thanks to Obi-Wan's show we know he was still alive for at least years after Order 66 helping smuggle people out of Imperial reach to safety, would love to see him turn up!

I actually met Amed best back in 2000 in a toy show in Florida. He actually signed an autograph for me. At that time he told me he played a number of the jedi council members in E1. He was in like 4 different costumes. He listed on my pic all of his roles as well as he was also in the 5th element.
I’m glad to see Ahmed back. Good to see him playing a mega strong Jedi who has mastered all forms of lightsaber duelling. Sounds like Keloran Beck is a clone wars era version of Kao Cen Darach.

It's so cool to see Ahmed Best back. I really hope to see JarJar in live action again, while JarJar on his own can be obnoxious, I think he is funny when with another character, particularly when said character is more serious like the clones or Mace Windu.

As of right now, Senator Jar Jar Binks is the secret mastermind of the Jedi Underground Railroad, and nothing will change that.
I don't think this was Padme's personal ship because she took hers to Mustafar to confront Anakin with Obi Wan, and we see Kelleren take grogu off Coruscant and go into hyperspace after leaving, so it's unlikely this was Padme's ship just given the sequence of events. If Jar Jar had a personal ship, it could've been his, as we know he was still on Coruscant after the events of Order 66 and the events on Mustafar. Or it could've been another ship in Padme's detail assuming she had more than one ship available to her.
not just that, this ship doesnt even look remotely the same except for the shiny exterior.

It could be the decoy ship that always travels with Padme.
It makes sense why Grogo is so important to the Jedi, he potentially had decades to learn before order 66 and potentially centuries before he was ready to take his trails. That would give the Jedi order a long time to teach him... everything they knew. And his species seem to live a very very long time that many centuries for him to gain more knowledge and wisdom and pass it one to others. even though morphological he is so young he is probably the most knowledge individual regarding the Jedi order left.

I think you missed a very "obvious" possibility. Filoni has a track record of drawing from the old extended universe, as well as giving us red herrings. I think there's a high likelihood his friends are Padme's body doubles/handmaidens that we have also seen featured in the Darth Vader comics.
Their not part of the legends canon their part of the new Disney canon

Ahmed Best hasn’t done anything that he needs to seek “redemption” for. Star Wars fans who hated him for the character he played need this redemption.
When the prequels came out I was literally like 3 or 4 and they immediately became my favorite movies as a kid I liked them more than the originals and jar jar was always my favorite character and I didn’t understand why everyone hated him when I started getting older it actually made me sad seeing one of my favorite characters as a kid being so hated lol
Rewatch phantom menace as an adult and tell me you still have the same opinion.

Totally agree. I watched The prequels last year at the age of 51 and absolutely loved The Phantom Menace and Jar Jar Binks.

Perhaps Grogu's affinity for eating frogs and frog eggs came from a time where he was living hidden among the gungans. An underwater city would seem like an excellent place to attempt escaping Order 66.

I remember liking Jar Jar when the movies came out…I was prob 9 years old of course but I got a soft spot for that character. Even had a Jar Jar stuffed animal at one point. Was very excited to see this.

I thought the “ultimate” fate of Jar Jar was given in the Aftermath novels, where he basically loses his mind with grief and becomes something of a street performer/drifter.
His use of Jar'Kai was very efficient. He did not use any flashy moves until that sequence where he twirled both sabers to block the blaster bolts.
it was laziness, not a creative choice. All of the action was camera work. Theres literally 3 cuts in the 2 seconds from when the shot leaves their blasters, he deflects it, and it kills them. He literally just spins the sabers twice and the camera flips 180 to the clones falling over. Come on. Lame. The top down shot they give us showing him and the clones all in one shot couldve showcased his abilities so much better but they took the lazy route and made your imagination do the work for them.

I don't think Padme is the one helping. At this point, she doesn't know that Anakin has slaughtered the younglings yet and all she has seen is the temple on fire. There wouldn't be enough time for her to find out about Order 66 and send a team to help rescue survivors

Loved Jar Jar as a kid, and i respect him alot in TCW, he was legendary, Would love to see Jar Jar again, and i am so happy that Ahmed Best got to play keleran beq again, he was awesome in jedi temple challange, im glad they expanded on his character!

This is the thing folks of my generation, who were kids when the original films came out (well, last two for me), needed to get over themselves about. I thought Jar Jar was annoying, but he wasn't there for me. He was there for kids like you. Obi-Wan and Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon were the parts that were for me.
I feel like some people treat or view Grogu as just a prop. He is own character who has just as much rich background as Din. There's so much more story to tell!

That whole sequence was the most star wars feeling footage ive seen in a while, its whats missing from star wars right now, jedi's, lightsabers, clone troopers, the force. I hope we get this back soon, mando is fun in a way, but its not why I love star wars.

What if his character he played as in Attack of the Clones that we see in the bar was in fact actually Jedi Knight Kelleran on a deep cover mission for the Jedi that he couldn’t reveal himself to Anakin nor Obi-Wan after they ran inside, but Anakin’s slight gesture towards him was a sort of way of telling him that we got this and to not blow your cover.
I think Jar Jar is the friend. Padme was too busy having sorrow over Anakin turning. (She sensed his turn, but didn't want to believe it).
Now all we need is Darth Jar Jar.
Best outcome would still be if Jar Jar was really Plagueis and he was unknowingly delivering Grogu to the Sith

maybe he was not a by stander, maybe he was under cover in ep 2, and the jedi temple is super super big,, there was over 10k jedi, and the kid might been kept hidden and safer than most, being so rare, so possible for many not to meet him

It amazes me that the survivors had so little faith in the Grand Master Yoda.
I always loved jar jar and most don't know his original og sith lord storyline that was changed beforehand. Not to mention in the comics jar jar wielded a lightsaber and took down numerous enemies like a boss then once obi showed up he fumbled showing jar is reliable where it counts or when it's primary. A true goofy soldier.
I would love a big twist. Imagine, Master Beck gets Grogu to Jar Jar, just for the big reveal that he's Palpatine's secret apprentice
Carl Weathers, High Magistrate Greef Karga, did an amazing job directing this episode
1. Jar Jar and Padme are unaware of Order 66 as it is happening, so while they would certainly help when asked, they didn't "send help"
2. I don't think the goal was to save Grogu, but rather save as many as they could and Grogu got "lucky" (the will of the force/plot armor)
3. I love that we got a lesser known Jedi as Grogu's rescuer.
StarWars is already just the story of the Skywalker family and their 6 friends, the universe is huge place, lets spread out a bit.
That was my favorite part of season one of The Mandalorian, that we got a bunch of new characters with no relation to the Skywalker & Friends Club.
4. Can we please get more yellow sabers in canon on screen?
Sentinels would be in the best position to survive O66, so going forward as we get into post O66 stories we should see more yellows.

He wasn’t just saving grogu. He told one of the guys at the ship that there was no one else grogu just happen to be the only one that survived

I believe Ahmed Best is in Episode 1 where he portrays Mace Windu as a background character in the scene where Palpatine spreaks to young anakin and says: We will watch your career with great interest. Or perhaps he could be playing master Kelleran Beq who knows.

Jar-Jar Binks has become a truly good character. His lore is already incredible. Ahmed Best did an amazing job imo, and seeing him return as a Jedi gave me goosebumps, I was like "yo it's Ahmed, it's not Darth Binks it's Master Jar-Jar dammit"

I believe that Jar Jar should be developed into a grey character. Someone who was tied up with Palpatine... but it might be too impactful
In StarWars Aftermath Empire's end Jar Jar was working in an Orphanage. So the fact that he could be helping hide Jedi Younglings isn't that much of a stretch.
It never made sense why these toxic fans targeted him in the first place. But we likely know why. It's great to see him be embraced by the fans now and getting to star as a new character. Props to Filoni, Favreau (and even Kathleen Kennedy) for bringing him back.
