One of the most compelling pieces of evidence I saw for Jar Jar being originally planned as a villain in disguise was a tiny thing on the movie website back before the theatrical release of The Phantom Menace. It had a few little teasers in it like most movie websites of the time (this was way back in 1999, mind), one of which was a list of the main characters with brief descriptions. The one for Jar Jar described him as a "menace" to Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. This by itself isn't particularly suspicious, because at face value the klutzy Jar Jar IS a menace, just of the plucky comic mischief kind. What made it suspicious is when someone noticed, a while after the movie had come out and the Jar Jar backlash was continuing unabated, that his description on the website was quietly edited to remove the reference to that word, "menace", without changing much else. A suspiciously specific thing to go out of the way to do, unless the original wording was meant as an allusion to the movie's title (which, in retrospect, doesn't make a whole lot of sense in current context of the prequel trilogy) that no longer applied.

Lucas got scared to keep Darth jarjar as part of the plot because of the negative backlash after episode 1 released. They said he was too goofy and annoying. Maybe they were right but that was the whole point, to make him extremely unassuming. Yoda doesn't appear powerful but he appears to us as the most respected jedi and the one every other jedi looks to for guidance, and he is indeed very talented in combat despite his size. I believe Lucas wanted a twist in the second film of the prequel trilogy to compare to the twist in second film of the original trilogy. I really honestly believe Dooku took Jar Jar's place and it was him revealed as the Phantom Menace that would have imprisoned Obi-Wan on Geonosis and tried to execute Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme and eventually fought Yoda. A twist in a prequel isn't easy to pull off but this may have been it. Notice now that there is no twist in any of the prequels. Everything else "rhymes"....so that's a big thing to not have a prequel equivalent..

Nah couldn't be so Mace goes to help the defence of the planet. They have an entire empire plus the whole of the jedi order on the planet at that time but he has to go help. Even better the investigator says "I need to look into this more" and he still leaves them there. It is astounding how many things show up when you really watch him. From his mockery of the Jedi and their order to the many, many convenient accidents that he has. His influence is everywhere!! Even the most gifted jedi need to train to hone their powers. Simply yelling go ani go is really not enough especially for someone not versed in utilizing the force. You could argue that at that moment he releases "his power" but in reality he was rooting for him the whole time. It is atypical for a jedi good or bad to use their powers via words. In fact.... Ive read a ton of star wars books, watched the movies and played a lot of their games and never heard or read of a power being released with words. Emotion maybe.... but as I was saying, he was rooting for him the whole time. His emotion was always trying to be on his side long before he yells that. But it's typically a gesture that is met with intense focus that allows the use of the force. Even the dark of side of the force is tremendous focus. It is a release through anger.... but it is still focusing on said anger to release the power. Jar jar is excited/nervous in that moment. Neither emotion are known for being very large conductors of force activity.

Have you ever heard of a "force scream"? It is a power used by the Sith to distract/scare their opponents at the start of a battle. Most commonly used by Emperor Palpatine at the beginning of his fight with Mace Windu and the Jedi.
My theory is that Jar Jar used an advanced type of force scream, which gave Anakin a boost to his powers and Jedi senses before he truly awakened them, thus causing Anakin to win the podrace, and for Darth Jar Jar to continue his master plan.
Also, "Jar jar is excited/nervous in that moment." Untrue, he was only acting that way to maintain the trust of those around him. Jar Jar is always calm when acting out his plans.

You forgot some key scenes from the phantom menace.
    1. When Padme’s royal guard (I forget his name) is telling Qui Gon and Obi Wan that Padme wishes to leave the ship and come with them to the city Jar Jar in the background of the scene is moving his lips in exact synchronization with the guard which later in the movie Darth Maul finds them and chases them through the sand dunes. In other words he convinced QG and OW using Padme’s guard to let Padme into the city in order for Darth Maul to ambush them.
    2. When Anikan is on Padme’s ship he says that he feels cold when he is on the ship which is a clear sign of the dark side because in Empire Strikes Back when Luke goes near the Dark side tree he feels extremely cold. Anikan essentially is feeling Jar Jars Dark Side energy even though he is trying to conceal from the Jedi but because Anikan is the Chosen one he could feel it.
    3. (Submarine Scene) when Obi Wan and Qui Gon asked him how he was kicked out of Gungan society and Obi Wan said “you were kicked out for being clumsy” Jar Jar then response with “something like that” and is sus AF.
    4. When Jar Jar, Qui Gon, and Obi Wan get into the gungan city the reaction of terror that the Gungans have when they see Jar Jar is very interesting.
Lastly People often mistake Darth Maul of being the Phantom Menace because he is on the main part of the cover of the disc but in reality it’s Jar Jar. He has been the Phantom Menace the whole time with subtle hints in the movie that he is definitely not as he seems.

This honestly would have been the greatest twist to ever exist, its not even hard to believe with Jar Jar being a Gungan from Naboo which just happens to be where Palpatine served for decades as the senator. We know that all life can be born with the midichlorine count needed to be a force user but Gungans wouldnt have been tested at birth like the rest of the galaxy usually was. Palpatine could have found him when he was young and together they could have forged this entire scenario together to earn the queens trust and maneuver themselves into this climax where Palpatine steps up into the role of Supreme Chancellor after young naive Jar Jar convinces the Queen to elect Jar Jar as senator to replace Palpatine and thus opening the door for the vote of no confidence and the subsequent vote to grant Palpatine emergency powers that effectively declared him Emperor, both votes needed Jar Jar exactly where he was at the right moment. The jedi could have watched the senate be dissolved and order 66 come down and realize in their final moments that the Sith had outplayed the entire jedi order and brought the Republic and the entire jedi order to near extinction and there was nothing they could do about it, they had personally hand delivered the clone army into the hands of 2 sith lords and caused the downfall of everything.

The clumsy act is more common than you think, there are many characters who use this false persona of being a fool to hide their true nature or use it in battle to trick their opponent into underestimating them. A great example is Cid Kagenou in the Eminence in Shadow, he acts like a disinterested student and a total fool in battle, purposely getting smacked around by Princess Rose and pretends to be a very mediocre magi swordsman; in truth, he is so overwhelmingly powerful that he could effortlessly crush anyone and everyone from top tier swordsmen to ancient demons to world-ending monsters, his magic power alone could blow a major city off the face of the planet and his skills are honed to extraordinary levels. No one outside his organization ever puts it together that Cid and Shadow are the same person because Cid is so obviously lacking and Shadow is so absurdly powerful that the very idea that Cid could be Shadow never even comes to mind.
If Jar Jar actually were a sith lord, I think that would have been a really awesome twist as long as it were done right. But there is always some moment where the act is dropped and the true nature shows.

I'm pretty sure the Dark Side is about taking power from all emotion full stop. Usually that's anger and stuff, but Darth Vader supposedly gained power from that as well from getting stronger from being a depressed mofo. The bigsad killed his wife, but the bigsad gave him life. So Jar Jar getting stronger from other's irritation and anger of *him*, is completely logical to me.

I have my own sick twisted love for the prequels. And I think I have two versions of Jar Jar in my mind. Maybe even three. The character I loved as a child. The character I heard in a conspiracy theory was a Sith Lord. And then the ultimate fuck up. Last time I rewatched the prequels, I laughed at how it was so bad it's good, and then I realized holy crap... Jar Jar is the key to everything!!! He singlehandedly got Palpatine elected. It kind of gave his character a beginning and middle and end arc. "Mesa clumsy." NO SHIT!!! NO FUCKING SHIT! That's kind of brilliant writing. To set him up as clumsy, a coward, but he pulls through, becomes a bit of a hero out of his combination of bad and good luck. And then riding his good luck of having settled down as a senator, he gets the ultimate baddie elected. Fucking great I say!! Canon or not canon? All these three characters exist in my mind. And I fucking love the idea of him having been a Sith all along.

I'm just started watching star wars from the beginning (I followed what googled say if you type "star wars film" and this is the first movie) from the beginning until the first war he become a general, I felt something unsual about jar jar. either he's a friends or disguise enemy, turnout the theory that he's a sith lord is making me smiled and gigled turn out every video I saw about jar jar.
I'm not even watch the second episode yet, but jar jar really is an interesting characters like master yoda (I remember as a child watching yoda as clumsy monster thingy but turnout he's some god in the jedi, I'm just watching that and not entire film).
It's really interesting if somehow he's the mastermind of all this trilogy.
