    His biggest attributes wwere his stamina,he could run around the field for as long as he wants,he was a real presence in the locker room,he had a desire to win like nobody else,his performance against Juventus in the semi final of 1998-99 champions league is one of the best in the history of the competition.there is no way united would have won the champions league that season without him

    Best captain United ever had and one of the most complete central midfielders of all time. Younger fans who didn't get to see him in his prime assume that his best qualities were his aggressive leadership skills and defensive contribution. But he could create, attack, defend, score, he had it all and was able to run games by himself.
    Manchester United have had many top quality midfielders since he left. But they've never really been able to replace what Roy Keane brought, and I'm not sure they ever will.
    Thank you for this amazing video, we don't have enough of Roy Keane on CZcams!

    • @JeeshanChoudhury
      @JeeshanChoudhury Před 4 lety +42

      @Harris Zaindi Keane not a great passer of the ball? He was an expert at on-the-ground forward through balls which could unlock defences in an instant for his team-mates, and he also played as the most advanced central midfielder when he first signed for the club, so your talk about "defensive box-to-box" and Gattuso are showcasing your own ignorance. He would usually play ahead of Ince and later Nicky Butt, and even when Scholes arrived he was still a fantastic attacking presence in his best years.
      You've listed a bunch of names of "more complete" midfielders including Edgar Davids. Davids himself called Roy Keane and Paul Scholes the best opponents he played against. Keane was definitely better than Davids and arguably Seedorf as well.
      It's quite obvious you don't know much about Roy Keane. He had a superb first touch, passing range and ability on the ball, so to call him technically limited is ridiculous.

    Literally everyone in England back then knew Keane was the best player. You would see it in analysis of games on TV, it was almost always Keane's performances that were analysed in detail, most of the praise in United's great performances went to Keane. People talk about his physical game. Nope, it was his intelligence and determination that made him the most effective player of his generation. It just makes me laugh seeing comments about how Keane was underrated or how they skipped his performance level in favour of Beckham, Giggs, Van Nistelrooy etc. I have to think the people making those comments are either very young, or didn't watch premier league games back then.
    Keane's passing and prompting was the engine that drove what was the best attacking team in Europe for several seasons, and he also at the same time managed to be the most important defensive player. That is the definition of a world class player. Scholes, Xavi, Iniesta, they all learned from Keane (and Guardiola). There hasn't been a player to compare to him since then. I'd class Xavi, Iniesta and maybe Pirlo as ahead of Keane in all time midfield ranking, but none of them bring the same completeness to their game. Gerrard? No. Modric? Good shout but still no.

      @cgarnet01 Před 3 lety +1

    He had it all but it was his intense sense to win and consistently do it.
    Aggression in the tackle which made opposition fear him and teammates respect and follow him anywhere but can u name anyone that he seriously injured nope, watch the way he tackles. Yes he may have miss timed some but by god did he stop the opposition getting into any type rhythm
    Then
    He play with both feet
    Score crucial goals
    Great passer, hardly gave the ball away
    Did the simple things right week in week out for nearly 15years
    Engine up and down the pitch
    With all the training, food science and healthy lifestyle you don’t see that these days
    Let’s not forget he was just a captain
    He was a pure leader and everyone followed
    U gave guys these days and all they worried about is how they look with armband on them
    I’m not saying he was the greatest but he was the best at what he did and for years
    Definitely the greatest leader
    Not one player or coach would dispute they
    Literally everyone would pick Keane to be their captain

    He was United's best midfielder in those glory years he was there. He played against the best players the world had ever seen. Massively underrated. Scholes was more of a goalscoring midfielder back then, and was not always the first choice. He only became the Scholes we came to know in the later years, dictating the game with his vision and passing abilities. But Keane was the complete midfielder who can do everything. Irreplaceable. Pogba needs to watch these videos of Keane and learn how to be a proper midfielder.

    The most important player in Man Utd’s most successful period. Would of been captain of any team in the world in his prime. Much more then a hardman like vinny Jones etc and real insulting to put him in that bracket. Would of got more goals and got forward more if it was needed but that ‘wasn’t his job’ that was the attackers jobs. But when he fluent it was needed he got forward but with his all action play he couldn’t be a box to box player for ever. Legend and greatest captain ever.

    He plays like a guy who played a TON of small-sided growing up. So clean in tight spaces and his moves are all choppy one-touch dribbles. He's gonna dribble a few and score on a no-look pass. It's so fun to watch. This style is dying because the kids are all playing club exclusively.

    Field regarding if we have 8 backs his level of understanding defense leveled him up uppon others.I think he was similar to Ronald Kuman in his style of play.
