The Lexx Exhaust Heat Wrap is made to insulate the exhaust on your motorcycle or ATV to help maintain temperature within the exhaust, on top of the added looks it will give your machine. Simply wrap the exhaust from the header to the desired location and secure it using Tusk Stainless Steel Ties. This will help with machine performance as well as maintain proper fuel burn. The Lexx Exhaust Heat Wrap will withstand constant heat up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Take a look as Charles shows how to wrap an ATV or motorcycle exhaust pipe using the Lexx Exhaust Heat Wrap.

Wrapping my KFX 400 Exhaust today. Hopefully the wrap will protect the lower radiator hose from burning again. Thanks for the video I didn't know you had to soak the wrap in water first 🤘🏻
Great info! Thank you!
Excellent work (: you can squirt a bottle of water onto the wrap to soak it. Keeps the color instead of soaking in a bucket.
great video. very helpful.
For anyone doing this on a smaller diameter pipe like a dirtbike exhaust definitely do the one inch wrap instead of the two.
Why is that?
@@wiplash518 Its easier to wrap around the bend in your header pipe.
Or you could cut the 2 inch in half longways.
Good job bro 👍
Good content 💯👍🏻
Damm good video, now I know what to do with my expansion chamber burning my inner thigh..
Thanks
Can you do an install on the Lexx silencer cause there are no videos and I’m having trouble
I will have to go and look at the Brand I have .. but they sell some kind of spray to use .. and so now I am not sure if they recommend using water or not.
Many useful tips here.. You sure don't want to have to figure all of that out with trial and error method.
Bought my 16 year old a wr250f with Enduro fuel tank and I'm worried about the fuel line close to the race exhaust. It has fmf power core 4 .
Anyone with a Yamaha yfz450 knows this is a must. Shit gets so hot and i ain't tryna burn my legs 🦵😅
My Honda trx450 is the same way!
When is the next give away
Jet hot coatings is the way to go. Dont halfass it boy's. Plus the wrap will rust your headers out wayyy faster. Facts and truth!
Jet hot coatings?
Do you have to replace the header gasket ?
Not necessarily, it depends on the condition of your gasket and if you can keep it in good shape taking the exhaust off. But it's a good idea to have an extra gasket on hand or just keep the exhaust on the machine if you're able to.
Is this like the Fiber Fix heat wrap? I have a roll that's 2 x 70 inches long.
That product looks to be more for fixing broken pipes than insulating them, but it still should work fine for this application and block more heat than not using anything at all.
It is recommended by many fiberglass manufactures to wear a protective mask while handling the material.
What grease did you use for the header gasket
That's just regular grease like Bel-Ray Waterproof Grease ( www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/bel-ray-water-proof-grease-p ) or Maxima Hi-Temp Waterproof Grease ( www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/maxima-hi-temp-waterproof-grease-p ). If it makes you more comfortable you can definitely use a hi-temp silicone but the grease was just used to hold the gasket in place when the header was put on, not necessarily for sealing.
I was told there is a danger of the header pipe on my KLR over heating and collapsing. Is there any truth to this?
I have never seen or heard of that problem!
gasoline burns at less than half the temperature that aluminum melts
@@rmatvmc I heard that you should NOT wrap titanium headers or it will just crumble to pieces.. only steel, it this true?
I need an answer as soon as possible so if anyone sees this please respond. What can I use I have to have it done by friday and dont have time for it to ship out? What else can i use?
You should be able to pick some up from your local auto parts store.
@@rmatvmc thank you so much
I have a question where can i get that exhaust pipe mine broke and i cant find any
What machine do you have?
I have a chinese hi bird atv but i spnt know what cx it its its around 150cc through 250cc
@@josevaldovinos8502how can someone possibly know what pipe you need when you refuse to say what machine you even have? Lol
Is it safe for pipes for rust?
It’s not water repellent, it’ll absorb water and cause some surface rusting. Maybe spray it with some high flash point penetrating oil to keep it from rusting?
@@ethanclark6859it only rusts if you park the bike with moisture in the wrap.
Do you put it on while it's still wet??
Yes, that is correct.
do a crf150r revew
Dont ever soak completely it removes the protective coating
I soaked it and everything .. there are now irritating glass fibers everywhere in my shop. i havent stopped being stuck with fiberglass needles for months.
The titanium wrap is definitely the way to go. On a dirtbike I also wrap stainless steel wire around the intire pipe at about 1/4” spacing. It helps resist abrasion from impacts or pressure washing.
I thought your not supposed to wrap the pipe all the way to the cylinder but your supposed to start about 5 inches back from the flange. The OGs told me it will melt pistons.
Lol no that’s all BS that just keeps getting repeated, if that were the case all the big race teams would never wrap the header or turbo manifolds.
Simple science and lots of proven performance
Do not soak the wrap! It rinses away some of the protective coating. This is per DEI.
no it doesn't, what happens when it rains then :D
@@danielkerr4100😂drizzles the rain and lose a 25$ roll of heat wrap
What name brand header pipe is that?
That is an FMF Power Bomb.
